Han Ji-hye cast in The Duo
by javabeans
MBC’s highly anticipated drama The Duo — which has now confirmed Chun Jung-myung for the lead — has cast its leading lady in Han Ji-hye.
The drama tells the story of two boys born on the same day — one noble, one slave — whose fates are switched. On paper, that sounds similar to the poor-boy-swapped-with-rich-boy premise of East of Eden, which happens to be Han’s last drama, although we can surmise (hope) that this drama will probably take a different approach to the story, not least because it’s a sageuk.
Han plays the daughter of an upright village schoolteacher, who grows up educated and clever. She’ll get caught in a love triangle (of course) between the two leads, one of whom is played by Chun Jung-myung, the other of whom has not yet been cast. I like the cast so far… I think the third lead will tip me over into full excitement mode if he’s good, or drop me back down to earth if he’s not.
Since appearing in Eden, Han has spent some time away from her acting by pursuing a shoe designing endeavor, publishing an essay book, and getting married. This’ll be her first project since her September wedding.
Han Ji-hye has given verbal agreement to appear in The Duo (contract pending), which’ll be her first traditional sageuk series but not her first time in a period project; she acted in the stylized Lee Jun-ik film Like the Moon Escaping From Clouds, which was released earlier this year.

She looks so grown up and sophisticated in that picture! A far cry from Sweet 18 (which I enjoyed). This sounds like an interesting drama with this cast aboard.

yay for han ji hye! it'll be interesting to see what sort of sparks will fly between her and chun jung myung (drools).
and jb, did you mean han ji hye rather than han hye jin in that last paragraph? han hye jin wasn't in the lee jun ik film, but she was in jumong, which i think is a traditional sageuk...

Sarah, I kind of know who is the 2nd male lead since Han Ji Hye is already selected. His name was 'floating' around DC with Han Ji Hye at the same time but I'll only reveal who he is when there is official news about it

I hope this pushes through. I have been waiting for a long time to see her in a drama again. Though I'm a bit weary since the plot is so similar to her last project. Other than her acting that drama, I did not like anything else.

I am intrigued. I really do hope they get someone good for the second lead. I don't know about Yoo Ah In, I kind of want to see him in something other than a saeguk... I know he's done other regular dramas before but none of them really interest me.

Yeah and that would mean that he'll be 2nd lead again. I need to see him happy for once since he'd always played tortured (to different degres) characters who never ever gets a girl

Han Ji Hye always strikes me as very cold. I don't mean this as an indictment of her acting, which can be uneven but she's always giving it her all. She gives off a very cool vibe onscreen, and I was hoping PIE could have a very earthy leading lady for this saguek.
Han Ga In used to give me the same impression, but she turned it all around with her performance in Bad Guy. I'm hopeful these two will have chemistry, and the rest is history. I'm quite easy to please when it comes to my dream come true, i.e. PIE in a sageuk. About time!

This woman's face was made for smiling. She's always looked so incredibly fresh and alive to me. It's hard to recognize her from this shot. (No dimples!!!) Be that as it may, if Ms. Han is there, i shall follow as well...

that's right, but it's (The Pianist) such FTV (Television-Film) that only has ine episode.
before I know this,I thought the (first ones,I read about this drama) news just misspell w/ Han Hye-jin (she was rumoured,as the female lead ones right??)
