Runaway to end with a special broadcast
by javabeans
Although an extension for Runaway Plan B has been nixed, the finale will be pushed back a week thanks to a recent pre-emption; last week’s scheduled episode of Episode 18 was postponed because of the Asia Games. That means 18 and 19 air this week, and the finale broadcasts on Wednesday, December 8.
Since most premieres usually fall on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays (depending on the show), KBS is choosing to hold back its new drama President until the following week. They’ll fill the post-finale slot (Thursday, December 9) with a special broadcast of Runaway instead, which will give us the usual look at behind-the-scenes clips, NGs, and other unaired footage. (A couple media outlets report that the producers are still negotiating, while a few others announce it as a matter of fact.)
In any case, I expect there’ll be lots of Rain goofiness in the special — at least, there’d better be! Preferably with Lee Jung-jin. Mmm, Lee Jung-jin.
Meanwhile, injured actress Yoon Sohn-ha has announced that she will be returning to the show following what seemed like a pretty bad car accident. Her evil-bitch-with-a-stone-cold-heart character, Mi-jin, was written out of the drama in order to let Yoon heal; [MINOR SPOILER?] she’s improved enough to appear in the drama’s last two episodes, and will appear in a wheelchair. I suppose that fits in with the storyline, since her character was shot in a previous episode.
The delay is probably welcome news for the crew of President since, as you may know, the drama was angling to avoid directly conflicting with Daemul, as the two are both Wednesday-Thursday dramas about Korean presidents. They’ll still overlap, but for one week less than originally planned.
The drama stars Choi Su-jong and his wife Ha Hee-ra as president and first lady; despite both actors’ long careers, this is actually the first time they’ll be acting together in 17 years of marriage. I wonder if that rapport will give them extra chemistry, as high-profile spouses playing high-profile spouses. (Not that they need it, with all the acting talent.)
President’s new premiere date is December 15.

Oh yes, he's a manboy all right.
I always will feel a little sad for him not having his mother alive to see how successful he has become. T , T

True. He's come a long way, indeed. And however over-rated he is, he's still my first Korean love. He was the reason I am now addicted to everything Korean, haha.
And I will be forever a Bi-Kyo shipper, hehe.

More Lee Jung-jin!!!! As you mentioned in your podcast, he was the only reason I kept watching the show. He STILL is, but I now enjoy the other characters/story lines as well.

Lee Jung Jin & Daniel Hanney kept Runaway alife.
Lee Na-Young boring as ever.
Rain over-exaggerated faking cute & funny it's too kiddy not manly enuf, isnt he over-rated as actor? Maybe he's strength as dancing king of kpop.

Daniel Henney? Really? I've not seen a single episode due to being busy... Okay, more like lack of interest. But if Henney upped the ante (you know, is better now?) I'm so in just to see that. XD

No.
Sometimes I wonder if I watch a different show than some people.
Daniel Henny is almost as horrible and dull and boring and stiff as ever. He's improved a bit but he mostly shows no emotion at all; there's this scene when he's stabbed that I had to forward - acting was too bad to watch. I'm glad he hasn't been so much in the latter episodes.
Rain has been AWESOME as goofy Ji Woon, and he's been fun to watch when he was being just adorkable. But behind the childish act you know there's more behind and he's also been able to express that after episode 8 =/ And it's been also AWESOME to watch.
That being said, I completely adore Runaway - it's been a great watch and from episode 8 onwards it got super good.

Daniel Henney was pretty bad in the first half but he's gotten a little better in the second half. The problem is, he's acting in english which doesnt seem to fit very well when everyone else is speaking korean!

Rain definitely went OTT in his acting. Remember how he wriggled his tongue - when he got on the tram in China (I think) when he was trying to escape from Lee Jungjin (in the earlier episodes)?? I love him and still think he's a manboy but that was so PAINFUL to watch ... I cringed but perhaps not as much as when I hear him speak English (nightmare!!) @@ .
He was lucky to become famous in Asia in 2005 - when Hallyu Kpop was still in its infancy. With today's boybands + youtube + broadband(instant drama downloads), he wouldn't stand a fighting chance in the recent years. And oh, yea, he has to thank Full House as well (JYPE doesn't count in his success equation). That's why he's the A-lister in Korea today. :)

i am only an amateur drama watcher, but i think rain is a good actor!
i think daniel henney also got better. i think his character allowed him to show a different side of acting.
runaway is an awesome drama! although there were chasing scenes that lasted more than 10 minutes. but i liked the emotional things. can't wait for the next episodes!

I will surely miss this drama, it was fun, I actually enjoyed Bi and the others. I am curious to see his next project. But he is due to enlist, right? I suppose he still has time for at least one more project.
