New daily drama Smile, Dong-hae premieres this week

Smile, Dong-hae is KBS’s new daily drama starring Ji Chang-wook (Sons of Sol Pharmacy) in his first starring role. Here are a whole slew of stills from the show, which premieres this week.
Ji plays a Dong-hae, a Korean-American short-track speed skater who is selected to be on the U.S. national team. This means that Ji has been busy training under a former national speed skater in order to lend those scenes as much realism as possible, spending four to five hours daily at the ice rink.
Dong-hae goes to Korea to find his girlfriend (Park Jung-ah), but after arriving in Korea, he is “betrayed” by her and then embarks on a new romance with Three Brothers‘s Oh Ji-eun. He also seeks out the father he never knew, and in the process he develops relationships with other people and forms a different kind of family.
Also starring are Clazziquai’s Alex (Pasta), singer-actor Lee Jang-woo (Three Brothers), and After School’s Joo-yeon. Smile, Dong-hae follows Fine Windy Day and airs its first episode Monday, October 4. It is a daily drama. (Too bad; it looks cute and I enjoy some of the actors, but I don’t do dailies. Too… many… episodes.)

Funny because I thought it was Wu Chun (not a fan, but still know of him). On second look, it could be a cross between Lee Min Ho and Wu Chun. XD

I am so looking forward to watching this drama because I think it has young and promising actors and actresses.
I have seen both Ji Chang Wook and Oh Ji Eun in their respective dramas and apart from being so attractive, I think they have great potential to become even better in their craft.

storyline should've been an episodal - 16 to 20 eps. i'm afraid of dailies too because they tend to really disappoint, frustrate, anger...
but i'd prolly do watch the first thirty eps or so, then stop but continue following it by reading summaries here and there, then watch the last five episodes. heh. this is gonna be a long process for me then.
i like Ji Changwook so i'm hoping things will go smoothly for him. he was a hoot in Sols Pharmacy.

I think Ji Chang-wook and Park Jung-ah make a cuter couple on the pics than Ji Chang-wook with Oh Ji-eun...
Furthermore Park Jung-ah is more beautiful :p

i'm sorry but i think bongi is more cuter than that saewa charac who i hate most in this drama! bongi looks younger compared to her & bongi in real life is about 30? but she looks good with ji chang wook! anyway beauty is in the eye of the beholder so they say!

Ji Changwook<3 he is so cute, but the idea of daily dramas itself wears me out ): hahah.
not to mention, the age gap between him & PJA (6 years) really bugs me. PJA's already 29 so it's like seeing a grown woman and a teenager together. so weird ._.

I thought it was Minho too! Ji Changwook kinda looks like Jungki (MC of MuBank/Sungkyunkwan Scandal) & Dongho (UKiss), too, don't you think? I'm glad that he's got a starring role. He wasn't that proinent in Sons of Sol's Pharmacy House. I miss that show and Daepung!

ah man that sucks. I was really excited about this drama and then i found out it has 100+ eps!! ugh i think i'll try to watch the first or 2 to see how it is...who knows maybe i'll be able to follow it through...hah fat chance anyway...but i will watch the first episode cuz i want to the see the main actor...well...act haha

Wow 100+ ep! It seems like an interesting drama, but whenever I see a drama with over 20-30 ep, It's too long for me and I won't get to the romance anytime soon. hehe, I'm impatient when it comes to these types of dramas.

Dramabeans, please cover this Kdrama! I've been awaiting Park Jung Ah to finally start in her own Kdrama anyway. I'm definitely intrigued and Alex, wow, so glad he's in this, too.
As for the lead actor, never heard of him but he's good looking! :D

i'm quite late with my input here but i just started watching this drama a few wks ago & likewise i'm not into long dramas but if it's good & i like JCW v much since sons of sol pharmacy, i'll break my rules for this! :) he does resemble LMH, they cld pass as brothers & i think the age too is same or close? i don't like that actress being paired to him, she's quite old & nasty in this drama! greedy, wicked, no conscience at all & i think of all the villains/ness i've seen, i hate this charac. or actress the most! when she's on screen, i looked away that's how worst it is for me coz i can't stand her looks at all, her eyes are just scary when she wants to demonstrate her madness! I'm enjoying the scenes with Ji chang & O eun? they're sweet couple! i'm now on epis 82 & sigh sigh almost there wahhh i nvr thot i'd finish this in a short time! i luv you Ji chang wook, more than i liked LMH! sorry LMH fans no offense!
