I grow to like her over the years. lolz it's mostly because i find her personality outside quite sincere and nice. At least she seems that way.

Not everyone will do well in both. She's still one of the most famous actress out there.

The thing about Kim Tae Hee is that she needs a big named/top star and goodlooking actor as her partner inorder to do well in her projects. Once she doesn't have them, it'll be a disaster cause she's not that good of an actress. Lucky for her that she's gorgeous!

Saying that she is one of the most famous actresses of her generation might be right, but she is more known as a CF star.

I recall that she has always been criticized for her poor acting. Her past dramas have done well, but I think that the fact that her co-stars are always huge stars like Lee Byung Hun, Kim Rae Won and Kwon Sang Woo/Choi Ji Woo count for a lot.

On a completely different note, (and I know that it's off-topic) but I'm really excited about Yoon Eun Hye's return to the big screen. I have noted that this site doesn't report about YEH's news anymore, whether about the Eric-Jo Hyun Jae possibility for Love Song or about her new movie while other site like AllKpop (which doesn't really focus on dramas and movies) have reported it.

Kim Tae Hee's popularity in dramas has mostly been by association.She had a legitimate Hallyu hit with Love Story in Harvard, but instead of building on that success and establishing A-list credibility, she jumped straight and only into film. I've always said that Kim Tae Hee would have been MUCH farther along as an actress had she stuck to rom-com dramas for a good 3-4 years, building her fanbase and learning her chops.

Most post-2000 Korean actresses who are actually big movie stars really established themselves as movie actresses before their TV success came. Kim Sun Ah, Lee Yo Won, Jeon Do Yeon, Ha Ji Won, Kim Eun Joo (RIP), Moon Geun Young, Son Yeh Jin, Jang Jing Young (RIP), etc.

Anyways, I wish her luck for My Princess, which I honestly completely forgot about until you reminded...

it's sad, in a way, cause it seems people dont want to spend time and money to see her movies but can actually spare some time to watch her dramas. like most of the comments, it's also because of association with more superior actors. also, like javabeans said, you grow with her character in her dramas, hence her projects almost always perform well.

i'm not impressed of her as an actor [yet] but i do like her, and somehow wants her projects to succeed. it's a bit weird.

No, as for dramas, her acting also not that good.

i think it's because in the dramas, there are more well-known big named actors who are in it (i.e. lee byung heon, choi ji woo, kwon sang woo) and therefore, more people watch the dramas she's in.

I havent watched her last drama (IRIS), many people said her acting can't be compared with another actor. Might be in her new drama she will outshined another actor.

It's great that you know you're a bad actress and try hard... but if it's not meant to be, there's no use in forcing it. She really hasn't improved over the years, which makes me believe that she's really not into the art of acting.

I couldn't see her in Iris...thank God..a great actor like Lee Byung Hun was in it..and the story line was great...but can this pretty chick carry her own in a movie? hmmm..hmmm..

How an actor could be good for drama but not for movie? Acting is acting. Movie just works as catalizator, as you should prove yourself quick. And drama has so much more time, characters and plot, so 1 poor acting could be overlooked.

@ 24 totally agree about Iris, she dragged the drama down. The "north agent" girl outshined her totally! She should have been the main girl instead.

I like her too because of her real personality. She is not like those who will sell her body to gain fame like a lot of actresses do. Her acting is mediocre. I see that she tries hard in IRIS. I felt more of her emotion than in Love Story in Harvard. I hope her princess will song seung hun will be a hit.

Maybe it's as simple as she just can't act. Just because she has big eyes doesn't mean you should put her in front of a camera.

I think pairing up with big stars will help her movie/series but whether it will be successful will also depend on her acting. Her 06 movie, Restless, she paired up with Jung Woo Sung (correct me if I am wrong with the names). He is a big star but that movie didn't turn out to be all that well one reason may be because of her acting. Her acting improved a bit in IRIS and it definitely helped in fueling the success of the drama besides working with Lee byung hun. She is not one of the best actresses but definitely not the worst either. I have seen actresses who are worst than her by a lot. They just recite scripts in front of the camera and their acting is completely wooden. At least in my opinion her acting isn't wooden and she doesn't make herself look like she is just reciting the script in front of the camera.

Honestly, I think she is not a good actress. Pretty, sure but she is not that talented.

I also think that if Lee Jun Ki had still been in it, it would have been a success. lol

Kim So Yeon didn't get recognition for her great work; instead, Kim Tae Hee got the encouragement to keep fighting to improve her acting!

Let's face it...Not every beautiful face who acts in dramas and films is an actress. Kim Tae Hee will continue to be given numerous opportunities to act in CFs, dramas and films, but she is NOT an actress because she lacks the Innate Talent.

She's attractive. However as I was reading the comments I realize that everything I have seen her in, my interest was drawn by the other actors. She is like the pretty bowl of flowers that is in the scene.
But it appears she a measure of respect in the film community and they are willing to keep hiring her.

i like her , but i am not sad for this ,is because i prefer watch dramas than movies ,because movies are very short ,and i enjoy something longer ,so this is my personal preference but i am more excited about dramas (but i am in the middle ,in the other way i don't like veryyyy long stuff either ,i prefer the usually shorter dramas of about 15 to 30 episodes)

KTH was a real pain to watch in Iris.

It was even worth when she was given an excellence award over supporting cast KSY.

With her new drama coming up, I can only think both she and SSH really need to buck up their acting as it's leads.

Lee Min Jung is the IT GIRL today. With the success of Cyrano Agency, we'll see more of her in the future! Hopefully she'll choose her projects well.

never really thought her acting was good, she's alright. but i prepare song hye gyo, but just like kim tae hee, song hye gyo has also been weak in the film industry...but she will be in a big budget chinese film soon so i guess she has more of an advantage against kim tae hee.

While I admit that in the variety shows & interviews she comes across as very sincere and nice, that doesn't mean I want to see her in dramas. I've said it before and I'll say it again - just because she's a pretty face, doesn't mean she can act! Why can't this be understood by the casting/PD's?!?! She ruined Iris! The reason why it was as big of a hit was NOT because of her, but DESPITE of her.

CF's are in no comparison to dramas and movies - anyone can be tolerable in 30second intervals and more so when they don't have to speak. I agree with others who said that she should have been in dramas much longer - especially as a supporting actor so that she could work much harder on her skills instead of relying so much on her appearance.

I learned my lesson with Iris(I could have overlooked some of the other flaws, but she was the last and biggest straw!!!) - no matter who else is in the drama, I will never watch another drama that casts KTH.

"the success of movies can't be mainly dependant on 1 star power". For long time, the priority of important factors that are needed for the success of movies as following: 1st, the most important is the storyline which is interesting or not? 2nd important factor is good director or not? 3rd important factor is the star power. In addition, advertisement, etc... affects the number of tickets a lot.
In Grand Prix movie, actor was replaced in the last minute; new actor is not hot enough; the storyline is simple; director creates few exciting scenes; so it explains the result.
