Jeon Ji-hyun flies solo, considers next film role

Yet more talk of a Jeon Ji-hyun project is being bandied about — I swear, most times there’s more speculation about her potential projects than there is actual discussion OF her projects. This one (if it goes through) would be Jeon’s first project after parting ways from her longtime management, Sidus HQ, and going solo with her own company.

This one is a movie called Falling In Love, which tells “a dangerous love story” of a married woman. Her rep stated that she is considering this project positively, but hasn’t made a final decision; she is also looking at a couple other possibilities.

Falling In Love will be directed by Lee Jae-yong of Untold Scandal, the Joseon-era spin on Dangerous Liaisons; raunchy teen sex comedy Dasepo Naughty Girls, as if you couldn’t tell from the title (which I actually thought was kinda fun, though meandering); and the mock docu-reality film Actresses.

After making a Hollywood crossover attempt, Blood: The Last Vampire, she shot the film adaptation of Snow Flower and the Secret Fan earlier this year. (Her last Korean film was back in 2008 with Hwang Jung-min, The Man Who Was Superman.)

I'm so bitter about the fact that there's even a ZK remake. Especially with the same actors who ruined the other shows.
Love you, Goo Hyesun, but I wish you'd stay away from remakes, especially this one. Wu Zun .. I wish you'd stop acting for good.

I'm not a fan of remakes, either, but when I was watching the original ZK, I kept thinking it'd make a GREAT kdrama and ever since that, I kept wishing k-ent would at least think about remaking it. And when rumors started floating around, and rumors about JJH at that, I was SO Happy. Obviously, I'm NOT talking about the remake with WZ

I too was looking forward to a Korean ZK's remake but umm, it's a crossover with Taiwan? I just have this bad feeling... not to mention its lead is Wu Zun, as much as I love the Fahrenheit guys, Wu Zun's probably the worse actor in the whole group :[

I want a real Korean remake one!

Is she still popular in Korea ? I'm still questioning her decision to go international since it still didn't make her name recognized world wide (except Asia). I think she (and Rain) has exaggerated their "effort" to breach into Hollywood market.

it's hard to break into the international market. even native americans took 10 or so years to really become famous.

While I can understand JJH not wanting to endure the grind of a weekly series (esp. when she can make more $$ spending a week or 2 filiming CFs) she should just pick the project that has the best story/script even if it means a weekly series.

She needs another hit or otherwise she is going to be irrelevant in the Korean market.

"Blood" really wasn't a Hollywood attempt, considering it was a HK and French co-production (and a poor one at that) and was more of an attempt to hit the Japanese market (any film not entirely in English is going to have a hard time attracting the US audience).

But w/ "Blood" and "Snow Flower" it seems that JJH's management was more interested in JJH expanding her reach into the larger Japanese and Chinese markets.

The thing is, she probably would have been able to gain more popularity in those markets if she had just done another hit, even if it was a Korean film or drama series.

All I know is, JJH's (Korean) movies are ALWAYS fantastic. I don't like the fact, however, that stars who are famous in their own right often don't seem satisfied with their fame at home, and make these attempts to gain international recognition through films which almost always fail. In fact I can only think of two actresses from non-english speaking film industries who are pretty well recognized here in America. And neither of them got that way through any calculated efforts like what we see these days.
Ahem. In short... JJH, even if Snow Flower brings your name to a wider audience, PLEASE continue to focus your attention and amazing talent in Korea!!

Am not familiar with the actress, but I am a big fan of the director. His movies may be a bit sexually charged, but I like his naughtiness and sense of humor.

I've watched most of his films (except Dasepo Girls). I even watched his little gem of an internet film "Joy of Love" with Jo Hyun Jae and Lee So 'Yeon (did I get her name right? she's the Jang Hui Bin in Dong Yi), which they did after "Untold Scandal" (where JHJ and LSY are supporting actors).

Is it bad that I wish for her to do at least something a bit more mainstream? Just anything not complicated. Just this time make a 16 ep drama, something light and easy.

She'll always be the sassy girl everyone has loved and I don't think it's bad to portray a character that's close to that. She's just always out and about Korea yet her past recent projects seem very forgettable.

it's really time for her to make an onscreen blast..not every one gets to watch all of her movies and hope she'll become more visible via tv drama series...and I wish to see him with Won Bin :D

"This one is a movie called Falling In Love, which tells “a dangerous love story” of a married woman. "

So presumably she's the married woman and the "other woman" is in fact 12 year-old Seo Shin Ae, amirite???
