Seo Shin-ae’s Drama Special episode
by javabeans
One of my favorite child actors, Seo Shin-ae (Thank You, Gumiho: Tale of the Fox’s Child) will be appearing in another of KBS’s Drama Special episodes. Her segment is called Boy Meets Girl, and she’ll play a science genius who is admitted to a science high school at the age of 12.
Her Ji-wan character doesn’t know how to do anything other than study, and because of her ambitious mother, Ji-wan is “locked into her studies under the name of gifted special education” despite her young age. She begins to mature as she meets an untalented middle-aged man.
Sounds like a meaty role for a gifted young actress. The Boy Meets Girl episode of Drama Special will air on October 2.

I always love to see how this child actress is dressed. Her outfits are so fashionable, yet age-appropriate.

I'm positive it won't be a romantic relationship. They'll probably grow from each other's strengths and weaknesses. I feel like it will be a growing-of-age story. (Like she's kind of a snooty know-it-all child who looks down on the middle-aged "loser"....and from there the friendship-ish relationship develops).

That's how I hope the story will progress.
IDK. I'm trying to put together the title and plot... The title just gives off the image (to me, at least) of some boy going through puberty and falling in love. Which, is obviously not the plot of this drama.
Meh. I'll just keep my mind full of innocent thoughts and agree with your perspective on how this drama will go :|

Aargh, dudes! There's more to a show than just 'romance'. And I'm one of the few who pretty frankly, is happy to watch a show where there is none at all.
The premise sounds great, love Seo Shin-ae, can't wait.
Also, on that note, I just watched a couple of shorts from 1999, and I can't believe how much So Ji-sub made me laugh (WITH him) in one of them, he should do more comedy, he's a natural.

Oh hon, I'm game for any show just so long as it has an interesting set-up and a fun plot, so please don't peg me down as so narrow-minded. haha
My confusion has reasons -- which I think other people might have seen as well. The title "Boy Meets Girl" and description "She begins to mature as she meets an untalented middle-aged man," drew a picture in my mind that surprised me. Forgive me for reading this wrong, it's not my hobby to go around pointing out potential pedophiles, I just wanted to understand if I was reading the article the way it was intended.
I will go into this show with an open mind, anticipating an outstanding performance from Seo Shin-Ae (already a veteran at such a young age!), and an unusual storyline, be it of friendship, scary mommies, or cradle-robbers. Let's look forward to it and have fun, yeah? :D;D
And if this is romance, I suppose then we should give it extra credit for originality ~ kekeke

The premies sounds questionable, but it seems more "About a Boy" ish (Adorable Hugh Grant movie) which was about a middle age man who befriends a geeky high school kid and grow through their friendship.

Aigooo... Hope it won't be.
I was kind of thinking along the lines of The Way Home. smartass kid and a dimmer older person forging an unlikely bond. That kinda thing. Consider my heartstrings tugged.

Yup, she's the best there is. I have a feeling that this little 'wunderkind' will be in the spotlight for a great many years to come. Her talent is simply staggering. She's been going toe-to-toe with veteran talents since she was about six years old and never fails to be impressive. Aja, Lee Bom, fighting!!!

Oh, this sounds like the kind of meaty plot I like. Hmmm, let's see how she does. She hasn't disappointed me yet and I'd love to see her stretch out her wings.

She is such a talented actress! Part of the reason I loved Thank You so much was because of her character. I really hope this Special will be subbed so I can watch it!

I hope this episode will be subbed sooner or later. I've seen her in Thank You and she did a splendid job in it. I love how she's already playing roles of different approaches and diversity at such a young age. More range than some actresses with a lot of popularity.

Haha, Taber.
Yeo Jin-gu was fantastic, he had such an attitude problem didn't he?
In fact, everytime I see Seo Shin-ae I kind of compare her Park Ha-young aka. Little Mi-joo and then I just think of how fantastic every single child actor in Giant was. They were definitely the cream of Korea's young actor crop.
Yep, Seo Shin-ae still has a fair distance to go in order to compete with any of them kids, that includes even the shoe shiner gang and their ringleader, little Park So-tae. Adorbs.

"Her segment is called Boy Meets Girl, and she’ll play a science genius who is admitted to a science high school at the age of 12. "
Looks like an episode of 641 Family. (an under-rated drama, once aired in KBS World, I liked it because they have Shim Eun-kyung in it)

Ah. I love Seung Jo. He's too cute. I pity Ha Ni. I wish she would be able to give up on him until he realizes how great she is despite her cluelessness. There were some parts where I felt like the director/producer were torturing her. I mean she's already in so much pain ... it's time to give her a break even if it's just for one episode.
