Song Seung-heon’s Ghost remake
by javabeans
Another one of Song Seung-heon‘s upcoming projects is the movie Ghost (literally Love and Soul), the remake of the 1990 Hollywood movie that co-stars Japanese actress Matsushima Nanako. On August 3, the film held its production press conference at Tokyo’s Grand Hyatt Hotel, and above is a still from the film.
This project is a three-way co-production, as it is backed by Korean, American, and Japanese producers. At the press conference, Song declared that it will be “on a different level from previous Korean-Japanese melodrama co-productions.” Co-star Matsushima said, “We did our best not to go against the most memorable scenes from the first movie. We’ll be able to move audiences in a different way than the original.”
Directing the film is Otani Taro, who directed hit Japanese drama series Gokusen. Korean entertainment company CJ Entertainment is a major investor, as are Paramount Pictures Japan and Shochiku Company.
This’ll be Song’s second high-profile remake this year, the other one being Invincible. That film will open first, in September, and then Ghost will release in November.

Honestly, I never found SSH riveting as an actor - he looks the role but he never quite pulls through.

Ohhhh...Nanako!!! THE actress who never fails to amaze me. I am just keeping my fingers and toes crossed that SSH's performance will be up to par. From the pix I've seen, these two definitely possess the potential to share some sizzling chemistry.

SSH was pure eye candy in East of Eden but as an actor... he was the less convincing of the lot... which is extremely annoying since he was the main actor.
I had the chance to watch quite a lot of Japanese dramas starring Matsushima Nanako, and she's great. Unfortunately since she'll act with SSH... I'll skip.

STOP BLOGGING THAT "PURE EYE CANDY" STATEMENT OF YOURS! DONT YOU HAVE ANY OTHER ENGLISH WORDS THAN THAT??! YOU HAVE FILLED THE ENTIRE ARTICLE OF SSH WITH THAT. AND I WILL CONTINUE SAYING THIS THAT I SUPPOSE THOSE WHO ARE INCLINED IN MOVIE PRODUCTIONS CAN BE THE ONE QUALIFIED TO JUDGE SUCH MOVIES.
I LOVE HOW THE KOREAN ACTOR SONG HEUNG HEON ACTED IN THIS MOVIE. GIVEN THE FACT THAT HE'S NOT THAT GOOD IN SPEAKING JAPANESE, HE HAS DONE HIS BEST IN DOING IT AND I'LL GIVE HIM AN EXCELLENT REMARK TO THAT. THOUGH, HE HAS INLY FEW DIALOGUES IN THIS MOVIE, I CAN SAY THAT HE'S A GREAT ACTOR FOR I CAN FEEL WHAT HE IS TRYING TO EXPRESS THROUGH HIS ACTING SKILLS AND LITERALLY, THAT IS HOW AN OUTSTANDING ACTOR IS DEFINED.
GO SONG SEUNG HEON! People around the world not only Koreans, admire you for your great achievements!
Fighting!! :),

Man, I'm stupid.
I read this: "Another one of Song Seung-heon‘s upcoming projects is the movie Ghost (literally Love and Soul), the remake of the 1990 Hollywood movie that co-stars Japanese actress Matsushima Nanako" as if it were saying that Matsushima Nanako co-starred in the original, even though it says "co-stars" instead "co-starred". That's what happens when I'm trying to read subtitles and an article at the same time.
*smacks forehead*
Nevertheless, I'll be looking forward to this! I loved the original and I only hope this can be just as good and that Asian remakes of Hollywood movies don't fall into the same trap that Hollywood remakes of Asian movies do...

umhhh i luv SSH from his Autumn in My Heart days & present.
I know I'm sort of out of subject here but I might forget to bring this up later so I'm gonna try & ask it anyhow! How come these cute K actors like him stays single for a while? Any clue from anyone here maybe JB of course? :)
K actors like Bae Yong Joon, Ahn jae Wook, Lee Jung jae, Jo Hyun Jae, to name a few? It's good for fans like me I guess:))) but i think they should at their age now.

I suppose those who are on inclined in movie productions can be the one qualified to fairly judge such movies.
I love how the Korean actor Song Seung Heon acted in this movie. Given the fact that he's not that good in speaking Japanese, he has done his best in doing it and I'll give him an excellent remark to that. Though, he has only few dialogues in this movie, I can say that he's a great actor for i can feel what he is trying to express through his act and literally, that is how an outstanding actor is defined!
GO SONG SEUNG HEON! People around the world not only Koreans, admire you for your great achievements!

Is that the best still image they had? They don't look like they have any chemistry at all from it... This movie has "we made this to take your money" written all over it.

LOL you weren't the only one who made that mistake - I actually did a double take on that sentence, before it made sense to me. My defense is that it's way too early in the morning and I haven't had my tea yet.
Love Matsushima in practically every single drama she's been in; she's the face of this particular brand of Japanese skincare range and I've always been tempted to try it out just because of her. Even though I know it probably won't really work on my skin, which is sensitive.
Anyway, looks interesting, so I'll probably give the movie a shot.

She looks so different from when she played Tsubaki in Hana Yori Dango. I have no opinion on SSH but I LOVE Nanako Matsushima. And loved the original with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. A little worried they won't do justice to the original...but still, looking forward to it! :)

Interesting pair, Nanako is the stronger actor of them but I expect the
movie to be a hit at least in Japan-
She hasn't really done much lately (last work Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji) but then her baby is how old maybe around 2 so it's natural.
Nanako is one of the few au naturel celebrities, she looks the same but older as she did 10 years ago.
As a side note, I wonder if her hubby will get jealous ^^

Those must be incredible heels, because Matsushima's about the same height as Song Seung Heon . . . O_O!!!!
Casting itself is great. Probably would prefer Takeuchi Yuko (aka Japan's Meg Ryan) in this specific role, but Japan's Julia Roberts, Matsushima, can still dial that million dollar smile. Song Seung Heon will be fine in this role. Expect okasans to make this a long sleeper hit.
So . . . who plays Whoopi? Stephen Chow?

I'm never crazy about remake's of classics, these movies are classics for a reason. If the next generation wants to see them, they should find some thing call a VCR and Tape and watch it, at the very least the can order it on netflix. Some movies should just left alone.

@33 (saboriana)
According to CEO/President of Paramount Pictures Japan, remakes will be the immediate trend in the Japan movie industry for the coming years. It is due to the fact that the Japanese people haven't forgotten such classics, but yet are open to a "version of theirs--attached with Japan's own sentiment".
SSH didn't took long to say yes to this remake, upon receiving words that Producer Taka Ichise wanted him to be in the movie.
Kirin Kiki (樹木希林), will play the role of the medium, who was Whoopi's character in the original.
For those who's not aware yet, SSH's character will not be the 'ghost' but Nanako's character. SSH will play as a korean potter, while Nanako's character will be a business-woman who will face a sudden tragedy upon just falling in love with Kim Juno (SSH).
There will be a lot more new things aside from the original depiction of the movie. As a fan, I can't wait to see it!!
