Dramabeans gets fancy new duds

Hey, check out the fancy new threads we’re sporting! Every kdrama Cinderella gets a shiny new makeover, and dramabeans was feeling left out. So we took her for a spin at the website-makeover spa and salon, and this is how she came out!

We worked really hard on this redesign (as in, directed people much more talented than us), and hope you love it as much as we do! Consider it an early Christmas gift. We hear Santa’s been ’round these parts lately.

Take a leisurely tour and reacquaint yourself with where things are, and thanks for your patience during the switchover!

A moment of silence, and one last look at dramabeans’ old outfit. We wore you to prom, to midnight shows of cult classics, and through many breakups. Fare thee well, old friend.

I actually really like the new design features. On one hand, I understand exactly what comment 118 was saying, but I realized that my google feed of dramabeans still gives me the blurb. So for everyone worried about that, following the rss feed will fix that. :X

:) And I LOVE this nested "reply to specific comment" feature -- seriously, it's so nice being able to see what everyone is replying to without scrolling back and forth to see what the heck people are talking about! I love it!! <3

I don't like the new format and agree with others that one reason is the color. This yellow green isn't pleasant to the eye and hard to read. I loved the old format and always said to myself that this website was easy to maneuver athrough. But I guess I will have to find my way around if I want to visit here as often as I have been.

aww...I missed the old one too much...
>.<

it was a good thing I commented quickly in OT#147, when I refreshed, it was now under maintenance...

just a question, why did the currently reacpping dramas got reduced to IAL & BG??? what happened to the others?

It'll take some time for me to get used to the design. The new look is neat and easy to navigate, so there's no point of looking back. However, I have a few feedbacks:
-The advertisement above the header is very distracting.
- I don't see a need for 2 "dramabeans" logo on top of the page. One is written on the header, and one, I guess, serves as a link to "home page"?
-In the old layout, the "recapped series" widget (with pictures) are very neat and helpful. I used it a lot, so may I suggest moving it to the sidebar instead of putting it at the bottom of the page?

I've seen some feedback coming through so I thought I'll add a couple of minor ones... take them as you see fit.

Not sure if it's how my browser is rendering the page but the numbers in the numbering overlap past the single digit numbers.

The comments might be nicer in normal font instead of bold; they look like they're shouting at you if bold.

Apparently this is an IE8 issue. I ran it by the designers so we'll see how it's addressed. In the meantime you can try looking at it in Firefox, Safari, or Chrome to see how it's supposed to show up.

Wow, I got a reply from you; thanks for making the time. I know you're busy but I can see how passionate you are about this. I always tell my hubby how wonderful you are.

Anyway, I am viewing your website at work (bad!!!) and the numbers display okay. We are on IE6 (yes, we are behind at work).

Not to worry, it's just cosmetic.

Thanks again for all the effort you put in to continuously improve your site; much appreciated.

I use Firefox and your pages now load really slowly. Often, I run into a "script" error. What I now have to do is go to your page, do something else, and come back to read when it's "finished" loading. Definitely a pain in the butt. And, I agree with others that limited text and pictures on the front page don't seem to lend itself to more reading. I've already started reading less and I used to read every single post!

I know this is not my site but the color really reminds me of playful kiss uniform color which I think was ugly.
Sorry if my word is not so polite.

What a surprise! When I clicked on Dramabeans yesterday I thought I've been redirected to another site. And puff I realized and its still my old kdrama news source. I like it, it's like new toy.

Thank you for your efforts to bring this to us, and I will adapt myself to this hehe. It's still the same dramabeans I know - the same wittiness in the entries, the same changing headers which I always love, the same drama schedule that I always checked every time I click onto the website. In fact, to be honest, everything I used to love in the old shell is here. It's just the arrangements, and the new look.

It's like moving to a new house, and JB & GF had done all the hard work of arranging for all the old comfy 'furniture' to be brought from the old house to the new one. (Great job there, girls!)... It may feel a bit 'different' for a while, but I know it will still be home to me. and I hope to the rest too :)

*Cries* I miss the old Layout.. :(
The mustard-yellowy-green colour scheme doesen't really screen KDRAMA DECON, maybe the red of Old or even a nice purple..
I, too, thought that I had misclicked onto some spammy site.. ***sighs***
Kudos for the change however, I think a few more visits (usually ATLEAST twice a day) will have me accustomed to the new *Make-Over*..
I still forever love this site!! <3

oh yeah, my mum noticed something . . . just thought of pointing it out.

Using IE browser we're seeing double no.s @ the comment.

But I refuse to read using Google Chrome. Cuz the rotating headers don't really rotate, if you know what I mean. But it has always been this way, even with the old layout.

So double numbers over single headers! hehe. . .

Love the new look! It's fresh, it's neat, it's pretty (I *like* the new colours). And it works. Love it. I thought the old design was getting a little tired.

I see you also got fixed the re-numbering problem for the 100-th posts that start on a new page - congrats!

The new look is gonna take some time to get use too. I admit when I typed in the website to come here I was a little taken back at the look, i was tryin' to figure out if i typed in the address wrong cause this didn't look like the dramabeans i'm use to seeing but after readin' this article i know this is it just got a make-over.
I'll definitely gonna miss the old look cause i have grown so adapt/use to how the old one looked & worked that's why i said this will definitely take time to get use to but i'm def. not complaining.
great job to the web-designers :D

LOL Like everyone else, I did a bit of a double take (again!) when I entered the site, sure I'd been misdirected away from my favourite site, but fortunately, it's DB all made-over and pretty! :)

Although I admit to a bit of nostalgia over the old look, gotta admit, the new spiffy look is LOVE :)

Great stuff, JB and GF!

I like the old look better. Sorry, this new design appears cluttered and out of propportions. That ads on the very top of the page should be placed elsewhere, too distracting.

I miss the old website. The banners at the top changed everytime I refreshed the page or went onto a new one. The new banner's kind of boring. The links to the recapped series should be placed at the top, dramabeans! Otherwise those new to your site probably won't see them unless they scroll all the way down.

Ah, wow, I love the new layout!
I loved the old one, and I get that comparison others are making to other gossip sits/allkpop etc
But I like the way the posts look when you are reading them, and I LOVE the way you can see more posts on main page (the smaller pictures and less text is worth it for this benefit in my opinion)

Haha, Go Eun Chan (damn, now I want to watch Coffee Prince)- you should have put a picture of her pretty make-over after that as well!

It seems fitting to have a new layout, ready for all the upcoming dramas that I think (hope?) someone will be recapping (based on all the news of them that is being posted)

Even if people don't like the layout- it's still the same blog so the content is all that matters!

Thank you for all the work! (And to all the talented people that helped you)

hmm, i think, i like the new concept, but i don't really like the background's color, also i suggest to move the ads to the bottom of the page :)

and.. the last, the logo is not so good either, so sorry..
i prefer read "dramabeans" from the random drama's image in the top of the page than from the new logo..

It your blog and you are entitled to change it.

I'll probably get used to the changes in no time. I particularly love this font. So much easier on my eyes. But I'll have to worry about pictures of hot men. They have become smaller and I'll have to take extra measures: "zoom in". Well, so be it. Thanks for all the hard work.
