Stills from Jung Ryeo-won’s new film
by girlfriday
Here’s a first look at the new film Sleeping With the Enemy, starring Jung Ryeo-won (My Name is Kim Sam-soon, Princess Ja Myung Go) and Kim Joo-hyuk (Terroir, My Wife Got Married).
The film started production on the 9th, and reported a jovial team spirit on the set from the start. Sleeping With the Enemy is another war-anniversary project, but differs from other fare in its smaller focus. It’s not so much about warfare, as it is about two people who meet in the midst of war.
Kim Joo-hyuk plays a Northern soldier who comes upon Jung Ryeo-won’s country maiden in a quiet village. The village and its inhabitants seem to be the primary backdrop of the film, and I’m looking forward to a different focus on remembering the war.
Jung’s transformation is pretty striking, and it’ll be her first project in a year, so expectations seem to be high.
The film also stars Yu Hae-jin, Kim Sang-ho, Byun Hye-bong, and Yang Jung-ah.

I agree with Kimi. People who worked in the countryside had darker skin. LOL.

I like Kim Joo-hyuk since Terroir and it's good to see him in another movie. It's sad that he broke up with Kim Ji Soo. But good luck to him with his movie career!

Not to be a total Mean Girl, but her face is terrifying. Pale is one thing, paler than the white top you have on is another. I sincerely hope that's makeup and not her actual pallor.

KJH was so great in Lovers in Prague.
She's not a bad actor but she was terrible as a country bumpkin in that drama with Kim Rae Won who was wonderful. I wonder how he's doing. I miss his effortless low key acting.

When I heard the title, I was thinking of the Julia Roberts film back in late 80s early 90s.

@Sonam, totally agree about KJH in LiP. I have high hopes for the film, and yes, the pale skin on JRW is a bit much. She looks ill, or starved, I hope neither is true for her sake.

I honestly think Jung Ryeo-won has acting chops, she just had a long string of terrible choices in dramas/movies because I really see her doing well in darker roles, actually, what she looks like in these caps reminds me of Moon Geun in Cinderella's Sister

They need to get slapped. She no longer is cute she looks like a damn CORPS.
I know there is gonna be a couple of ignorant people thinking she looks cute ill be waiting for those comments.

I think even people who like white skin will will say she looks like she's just escaped from the morgue.
I used to like JRW a lot, esp. back in KSS but since then she's had a number of disappointing dramas/movies. What she really needs now is a break from acting, and perhaps a trip to her local doctor to get her anemia treated.

Being extremely pale myself, I have to say that RWJ is positively gorgeous. Just because she is pale doesn't make her sick. Of course her weight is another matter. I'll agree that she is skinny to the extreme but some woman can be that thin and still healthy. It's in their genes. RWJ is one of my favorite Korean actresses and I hope this new movie will just reaffirm my feelings. RWJ hwaiting!!

Jung Ryeo-won is beautiful, talented, and never, ever, at a loss for work. She turns down far more offers than she can possibly accept and her fans are legion, but I guess all of those silly producers, directors and talent scouts have no idea how to do their ridiculously high-paying jobs, huh? Keep up the good work, "Kim Bokshil-ah"; Thank you for introducing me to Korean Drama!
Apparently there are alot of jealous girls out there who never got asked to go to the prom..

i think jung ryeo won would be so much cuter if she put on ten pounds
i guess she inspires a protective feeling in guys, so that's why she's still around??

i think she is so korean, it makes me love her so much! She can look like a country bumpkin, but her smile makes me so sure that inwardly she is beautiful.

People are never satisfied; when actresses are tanned, they are likened to farmers and charcoals etc. when they are fair, people say they look sick, dead etc. If you guys follow pictures and updates of her over the last year, you will notice that she has put back on some weight after losing tons for her character in "Castaway on the Moon".
I have always considered JRW one of the more stylish and charismatic actresses from the usual range of super-plastic-plus-fake-smiles-and-tons-of-make-up korean artists. At first glance, she isn't the drop dead (but mostly fake) conventional beauty with super assets but she has class and character which slowly grows on me (not to mention that she can carry off a surprisingly wide array of fashion styles). She also possesses acting chops but like what was mentioned, has yet to star in a role which really taps on her potential. I'm looking forward to this particular production because its quite unlike anything she's done before so it should be quite refreshing to see her in such a role!

#5 I agree.
She is not on my list, and because of that I probably have missed a few
could dramas. If she is in it, I just cant watch it.
As much as I love My name is Kim Sam Soon...she takes some of the enjoyment
out of it. I cant even put my finger on it.
MY thoughts. The story sounds great though. Hope it goes well.

Ryu Won Jung, is most beautiful person. Not like some actresses plastic all over. Wonderful personality shines over her beauty. She got the taste for clothes to suit every occassion. Looking thin is just a girl thing. Every girl wants to be thin, no girl wants to be big. Accepting her for what she is, is the utmost important matter. Just waiting for another great drama soon.
