The Fox Child reveals her gumiho face
by javabeans
Here’s our first look at the half-fox, half-human child played by actress Kim Yoo-jung in the upcoming sageuk horror-thriller Gumiho: Tale of the Fox’s Child. Above she is in her “normal” human guise, but the character comes into her mythical gumiho powers at the age of 10, which necessitates a physical transformation as well. The closer the character comes to turning 10, the more gumiho traits she starts to show, which increases the chances of her being discovered by her human neighbors.
Alas, the girl doesn’t know of her heritage, and neither does she realize that her mother (played by Han Eun-jung) is a gumiho, which makes her transformation all the more shocking for her.
Because she doesn’t know of her or her mother’s background, the young girl is entrusted with a local nobleman, who has a daughter her age, played by Seo Shin-ae. However, that nobleman doesn’t realize that “an unimaginable conspiracy awaits him.” What ensues is a life-and-death struggle between the two girls.
The makeup isn’t quite convincing (TV special effects aren’t often adequately frightening for horror shows), but the story sounds intriguing. The drama will air on Mondays and Tuesdays, and will premiere on KBS on July 5.

I hope they improve the make up/effects. If not, it'll come off cheesy. almost like filo fantasy...eww

I don't think that's the same child actress... like the fox face and the human face are acted by different people. O_O

seo shin ae is SO CUTE!
as for the makeup - i think it's really freaky. not that i'm scared, but it's more...weird and doesn't look like it fits the character at all...i think what puts me off the most is that the face color is different from the arms.
i'm curious - though the child's gumiho powers start to manifest and changes her appearance, can she also change back to a human when she wants? or is it that when she develops gumiho features, it's stuck until she can break the "spell" or her mom helps her break it?

Um... it doesn't look that bad? They certainly should have used better coloring for the makeup. The gray indeed looks out of place and ruins the overall effect, but the basic design and facial prosthetics aren't bad.

No offense but she looks more like a monkey and less of a fox. She reminds me of the monkey king, Sun Wukong... oh well...

I hope they do more with the gumiho face...it really looks really plastic and the face doesn't match her skin color....maybe it will look better on screen with the right lighting...anyways, i'm really curious at how this drama will turn out!

Well, it is stated that she is half human half fox, would that explain the strange makeup that we see?... doesn't change the fact that i want to see this.

Ooooh, I read somewhere else, Viikii, that the gumiho gets her powers at age 10 so maybe the girl in the water is getting her powers.....Is this the same as "Gumiho's Revenge"?
I cannot wait to watch this one..
