That sucks. Of course, I'm going to finish all the dramas I'm watching, too, but I'm real sad for all the actors, esp Kim Nam-gil. Oh and poor So Ji-sub. I can't imagine how he'll remember this week.

ratings probably dropped for Road #1 because so ji sub fans are probably mourning the loss of Park Yong Ha... I couldn't even click on to viikii today because of this sad news...

Good grief, those ratings are pretty terrible.

I think that SBS should have instead shown some mini-series, specials on each of the shows, or maybe even shown a repeat of a previous series instead of premiering their new shows before the World Cup. Maybe it would have allowed for Bad Guy, Road No. 1, and Coffee House to maintain viewership instead of having a horrible break in between episodes of those shows (and all of the other shows that were effected).

I doubt that any of the shows will gain any momentum after that break (though I really hope they do). Which is especially devastating for Bad Guy.

SBS basically threw Bad Guy under the bus (numerous reschedulings, non-air times) . . . but if the show's run is "quality", it'll still have a second life in Japan and possibly China and Taiwan.

I will also finish the series because I started them and well, I liked them.
However, it's a little tough getting back into them. Hopefully, this will let the 'powers that be' know that they need to be a little more creative and diligent when preempting programs that are just out the starting block and needs to take hold.

Even without the sub, I find 3rd episode Road No. 1 quite good.
Too bad lots of people have already written off this drama completely.
I prefer not-your-ordinary drama like Road No. 1 even it has some flaws
at the beginning.....

i tried watching the first episode of baker kim tak gu but.... as;ldkjf;akjf i didn't think it was that good? ill have to go recheck it out to see if it deserves these 30% ratings. UNFAIR.

Bad Guy is a great show and so is Coffee House What a shame, feel bad for the actors as they are doing a great job.

Baker King Kim Tag-gu is a great drama i love it but so is Bad Guy and Coffee House. Maybe its SBS that is not pushing their series as well as they should.

Dammit! This was the moment of truth really. I read somewhere Kim Nam-gil kind of collapsed with anxiety on set, worrying about a post-WC ratings drop -- looks like he'd sensed this.
I'd pretty much consigned SBS as a stigmatised channel. I joos' don't think the Korean viewing public likes it very much, it gets either low or at best middling ratings, post-IRIS anyway.
Poor, poor KNG.

And for SJS, a tragic week, yes.

Life is Beautiful got postponed because of the World cup too, but its ratings stayed strong, so I don't think that you can blame it on just the World cup. Its 3rd in comparison to bad guy's 7th.It makes me sad that dramabeans isn't really covering that series because long term its been doing much better than a lot of the series being covered :(. Plus I'd like to know what's going on behind the scenes ;)

I am currently watching Baker King, Kim Tak Gu, and I can say and estimate that viewers in Korea are definitely watching the series for its storyline and not the acting or casting. It's a mix of makjang with a " survival of life story" -hence it is highly addictive. The adult leads just recently appeared , hence the rating sparked even more interest, I wouldn't say Yoon Si Yoon is increasing the ratings -he's atotal newbie afterall.

So I do feel that the drama has the right to take all the viewers away due to it's secrets... but is it fair for everyone? YOU can't blame them...YOU CAN ONLY BLAME SBS!

It's good that SBS is getting their lesson, but I feel sorry for the actors and production crew.

Although I didn't watch them, None of them...
BUT I Feel SAD,, Seriously!! Such a horrible Ratings!
And Bad Guy Lost 10% of its viewership!!

Bad guy has such a bad luck. Rescheduling, WC, now KNG is on the verge to leave the show. GIVE ME A BREAK, let me watch my drama without all dramas.

personally i'm extremely baffled. i really disliked baker kim tak gu, and i couldn't even stick it out to watch the adult cast to take over. dropped it like a hot potato. i don't understand how it could win over something like bad guy..... i wanna blame it on the world cup, but even so!! just my personal views :) hope the ratings pick up, because it seems like the best offering for the wed/thurs slots... like, by far.

I think Bad Guy probably dropped because of the "spoiler." But, that's a huge drop.

This sucks. I'm still very much on the Bad Guy train and even decided on a 'ship' today but I know every actor wants their work to be popular and loved. Hopefully at the end we can say 1 out of 2 aint bad.

That surprise. I did not watch Baker King yet waiting for English subs. What the standard of Great Drama? Baker King is low budget drama that get high rating. KBS did not expect their drama get high rating they expect average rating 10-15% but god!!! KBS surely smile right now. MBC must have tough time this year how to cover big budget drama that get low rating. Well watch several episode before judge the drama even Javabeans found Baker King surprisingly pleased.

Sheesh!!!! It was bad enough missing out on my Bad Guy fix for a two weeks, then I hear all this drama about Kim Nam Gil. I really am digging Bad Guy, I feel really bad that the percentage dropped so much. It won't affect me since I watch dramas via the internet but still the cast must be devastated by the HUGE drop.

Dude, how can you even compare the two? How many eps of Life is beautiful aired before the WC break? Over 20, yeah? Of course, LiB already had a loyal fanbase that wouldn't drop it just because it went on hiatus for a while. Bad Guy aired, what? 5 eps? Even if the drama is very good, which it is, it's only natural that the ratings dropped since it had just started. And besides, for the kind of drama it is, a thriller, such a long break totally killed its momentum. It's unfortunate how SBS decided to treat its dramas. Bad guy had such bad luck from the very beginning. I feel for KNG. This is SO not the way I envisioned him leaving for the military service. I was expecting him to go with a bang, with a very successful hit and it doesn't look like that. Me? I'll keep watching it faithfully, but, since my watching it doensn't affect the ratings, I don't count.

i never seen those new movie 2010 in whole in my life ever! then i wonder this really biggest best in movie! there like love, anger, sadden, cry, cruel, help, joke, friends like include movie but i think so.. then i love movies then why people not like movies from rate them then there must reason...

I feel bad for bad guys, the producers must be in depression right now. With the production cost into the drama, it should at least get 20% and up to receive profit

I'm really into the WC right now, specially it's getting closer to the championship game. So, for me I really don't feel like following any new drama until the WC is over.

I did however sneak in Road No.1 a bit because of SJS but it's just.....so I dropped it for now. The only drama I 'm really throwing in my time even with the WC is 'Coffee House' (which recently changes my shipper to JS - Grandma). Although two weeks are really diluted my mood for the drama, ep9-10 made my addiction goes up again, just only this one. This is an example from me,one of the WC mania. So to speak , we will see things clearly after the WC.

Oh! Oh! Oh! I was part of that 5.6% (yay for getting watch dramas in real time in Korea!)...but sadly I am only one TV. How do they even calculate those ratings, anyway? Is there some sort of way they can tell what each TV is tuned into and correlate all that into the ratings?

SIGH. i am keeping my fingers crossed for these terrific dramas to hop back into the limelight again (hopefully through higher ratings). The actors and actresses spent relentless energy and time to make it what it is and it's so sad to see that their hard work isn't getting the appreciation it deserves!

But still-I don't think it's right to bash the World Cup or any broadcasting station. I mean hey, life happens. It's just so frustrating when you KNOW that well written and acted dramas like Bad Guy are underrated and the hardworking actors/actresses have to face the loss. Poor poor Kim Nam Gil. Please don't cryy!!

Let's be hopeful for better days and weeks to come! I am going to continue all my dramas regardless of what numbers they pull and hopefully those in Korea stop watching the dang World Cup and support it's fellow Korean citizens! Come on, you did your share with our Korean soccer players, do justice for you Korean actors/actresses, will you PLEASE.

The ratirng calculation works like this: The company (Nielsen or AGB) has between 1000 and 1500 households in Korea which are equipped with a box. This box is like a recorder. Every member of the household gets a number, and there's a sort of remote control where you have to punch in your number when you start watching, and when you stop watching. The box also records the station watched.
So, the 5,6% rating is based on 5,6% of those 1000 households, rather than 5,6% of all Korean households... so even if you and everyone in your city switch on their TV, it increases the rating figure by 0%, unless someone has a box from the company.

I'm having a headache after reading this news! How on earth did this happened? From the cast to the crew, BG is a quality work and I think the story keeps getting better (....yeah except the SPOILER).

I hope the rating will improve.. *PRAY* and I also hope that the army will grant KNG another extension. *PRAY*

I just had a nervous breakdown, fainted. Poor poor poor Kim Nam Gil, how can this happen to an awesome drama like Bad Guy. I’ll continue to watch BG till the end. I just want to convey these messages to the BG team, especially KNG, please get over about the rating, keep on working hard and no matter what the result are, at least you all have done your best. Like what KNG had said “ratings are given by heaven”.

We can't judge how good a drama is from just its'rating.
Remember "I'm sorry, I love you" (2004) gained just 17-18%, but it is so famous around the world and got so many awards.
For "Road No.1", it contributes to Korean people and Korea nation. Plus the script, production, cast are so perfect.
