I hope PBY really gets casted. I'd love to see her portrayal of Kotoko's character. :)

I understand so many reluctance in hearing Kim Hyun Joong as the possible male lead due to his poor portrayal of Ji Hoo sunbae in BOF.

However, I somehow think that Kim Hyun Joong as Irie Naoki might actually work.
Irie Naoki is supposed to be a cold-hearted and expressionless character, with disinterested monotone. From what I see in his interviews, performances, etc, he mostly displays this kind of exterior anyway.

Of course I'm not saying that he's the best candidate to play the male lead of this drama as there are many young actors who have shown much greater acting capability than him. But I somehow think that IF he really gets casted Irie Naoki, he can probably pull it off. So I'm not too bummed upon hearing that he's the top contender for the male lead.

Park Bo-young will be a perfect choice for the female lade ... she was great in her movie "Speed Scandal".
BUT I DON'T WANT "KIM HYUNG JOON" TO BE THE LADE ACTOR... it's true that he's very handsome but he CAN'T ACT, he don't have any presence. Personally I want to watch some good acting, remember Lee Min Hoo as Go Jun Pyo in BBF or Jang Kun Suk as Hwan Teak Kyun in YAB they did awesome... perfect.
I really really wish that the production will choose a very capable actor to deliver the parsonage.

I've seen both Japanese and Taiwanese versions. I think Jang Geun Suk "hyungnim" would make a great male lead. Male lead is smart, handsome and mean = JGS ^__________^V WOOT

I don't really like Lee Min Ho's acting, so I don't want him as Naoki, though I think he would do a pretty good job (I mean, Naoki is not someone who's got a lot of facial expressions, so it might actually work for LMH).

i want JANG GEUN SUK as male lead actor. there aren't any perfect cast except him. i don't know about park bo-young. i haven't seen her project before. but it's OK if JGS will be male lead actor. Please no more KHJ, i don't hate him, but i prefer hear he sing a song.

LMH could suit the role but he won't take it, Jang Geun Suk is decent but honeslty I'd rather see someone new like Kim Soo hyun try to tkae a crack at it. Not to metnion isn't Jang Geun Suk doing You're my Pet anyway?

I do like Park Bo Young, she was a great actress in Speedy Scandal.

I honestly wanted Park Bo Young for this role ever since I learned that they wanted to do a Korean version of ISWAK......as much as I love JGS, I think that an unknown male lead should be casted....though I would not mind seeing PBY with LMH so even if LMH is quite big in K-showbiz industry I would love for him to take this....but if I want to be totally honest, I want Kang MIn Hyuk (drummer of CN Blue) to play the lead guy.....he is tall like Joe Cheng, I know that he is smart since his band mates nicknamed him as the good student.....and I know that even though he has no acting experience he is a fast learner and he has what it takes to be a good actor too and would fit the role perfectly.....and Park Bo Young being a good actress can help him fulfill his role.....I just have got this feeling that they would be perfect together.......

I like PBY is a very lovely choice if they end up going with her. I too loved the TW version and I thought the jdrama version was ok as well. I think it's important that the male lead be tall cause Naoki is really tall and handsome and everything that a typical high school girl would love. Jang Geun Suk just doesn't seem to fit that profile for me. But I'll wait to see an official confirmation -- I wouldn't mind someone more "new" however, they do have to step into the role.

@ 62 : Actually I was only giving some example of good acting, it doesn't mean that I want LMH or JGS to take the role but if I was to choose it'll be "Jung Ui Chul" or "Yoo Seung Ho"... those two has some arrogant-boy-aura...

I dont know her, so I will start asap to watch a drama with her.

But as so many ara praising her, I suppose she will be good.

The drama is called Playful Kiss / It started with a kiss + They kiss again....!!!

So....as we know Ariel Lin and Joe Chen kissed so lovely and SO MUCH...and gave us this great feeling of happiness with this drama...

Ergo - as we know from korean dramas kissings, the ladies are stiff like a surf boards, and kissing scenes are shown so emotionless (except Gookie and Mirae) , that those scenes are the only disappointing things in korean dramas....

My question now, I am the only one who wonders about the lifeless kissing scenes *^x^* of the koran ISWAK couple? :P

Park Bo Young is considered the best young actress in Korea by most directors. We were expecting huge things for her and many appearances in Movies and T.V. this year, it's good to finally see that she'll be doing something, especially in a drama.

i agree lee min ho would be great for this role, but he's already taken on a drama/manga adaptation (hana yori dango), i don't see enough personal growth as an actor by him choosing this one!! I want him to choose more challenging roles honestly >.< because I want him to shed his idolish bof image.

I like her a lot I think she be great in the role, I agree the Director of Goong and ROI is interesting but I'm still weary of the storyline. There no evil mother-in-law, no first love, no social status, everything K-drama storyline are build on. I really didn't think ISWAK could be re made by Korea due to the storyline as a whole. ISWAK is build on the one thing K-drama keep at arm length, no a country distance and that natural intimacy between too people throughout the drama. I have not seen a k-drama yet succeed on that level, what I mean by that is natural intimacy during a skin-ship scene that when you watching the drama you feel like it just you and the leads, TW drama get it! that they specialty that why ISWAK and TKA was so successful. When TW drama do a skin-ship scene they are flawless, The leads come across as if they are the only two people in the room. Where in K-drama SCENE and this my own personal opinion I feel when they do a skin-ship scene immediately you feel that the actors are aware they are in front of 20 members of the casting crew, the awkwardness and embarrassment come across in they stands, body language, right down to the pining of the arms. You watch 9 episode of great acting, well written storyline and it plumbed due to the one scene that suppose too bring it all to a head.

I'm stopping my off the track ranting, I'm getting upset just think about it. I do have to say this, I don't know who the main lead actor would be but it have to be someone that express himself with they eyes, Shi zue nor Ari was big on facial expression. They emotions was display through they eyes. I thought Siwon would be great in this role,too bad he just finished (OML).

As a closing personal opinion I differently wouldn't compare K-drama remake to the TW version that drama was in a league all they own and haven't been challenge yet,(Fated To Love You)come close...hehehe. Even with the surprising skin-ship in ROI the scene still come off stiff. Since Goong kiss still haven't be challenge from it top spot of the hottest kiss EVERY there is hope, that this drama could meet expectations but I will not hold my breath that it would come close to exceeding TW-version.

Jung Il woo os the best choice as PBY would look older beside Kim soo hyun. But whoever it is, i want the little brother to be PBY's son in the Speedy Scandal. He fits the role to a T.

yeah, i agree with shi won...i already imagine shiwon as the lead..he has the arrogantness and when he smiles...it's a killer..plus his hot body to show that he is an athlete...PERFECT for the role..not the girlish SS501 guy...

I will go watch Speed Scandal for her. She seems cute! & appearance wise pretty suitable for the character! If not, I want Seunyeon (I know I spelled that wrong) because Park Shin Hye... haha, need to see someone fresh fresh!

I'll be happy either way but I'm 0.0001% more for JYH. I have no idea why, they're both newbies and they're both hot. I just can't choose. I hope they hurry up and make up their minds so I can finally get to looking forward to watch it instead of waiting and waiting and waiting...

to park bo young & lee min ho fanatics like me; I totally agree with you. i, too think that lee min ho & park bo young, look perfect together. they have good chemistry. but unfortunately, park bo young wasn't able to do the drama due to legal issues while we wanted lee min ho, it was really kim hyung joon, got the male lead role. let's just wish to see them together once again, hopefully this year. :)
