Han Eun-jung in Tale of the Fox’s Child
by javabeans
Here’s our first look at leading lady Han Eun-jung in character for KBS’s upcoming Gumiho: Tale of the Fox’s Child, the period thriller series in which she plays a mythical shape-shifting fox.
Han expressed her excitement for the role, saying, “It’s a real honor to be playing such a good character, and I’ll work hard to show you a much better version of the gumiho than has been seen in previous dramas.” The gumiho is a classic character/creature out of Korean folklore and has therefore been often explored onscreen; previous actresses who have played gumiho characters include Go So-young, Song Yoon-ah, Kim Ji-young, and Park Sang-ah. The challenge for the drama, then, will be in bringing something new and/or interesting to the genre.
Han plays the gumiho mother to a half-human girl, who leaves her abusive husband after he breaks a promise and causes her to be unable to turn into a human. The series is described as a suspenseful melodrama that unfolds around her revenge. Her daughter will be played by familiar child actress Kim Yoo-jung (Dong Yi), while Seo Shin-ae (High Kick Through the Roof) will play a human girl of the same age. (See this post for more details about cast and plot.)
Gumiho: Tale of the Fox’s Child will be a Monday-Tuesday drama that kicks off next month, following My Country Calls.

I'm assuming there are going to be fusion elements in this drama. It sounds really interesting, a good foil to the Hong sister's take on the legend.
On another note altogether, what a different take on the hanbok, making the jacket transparent. Kinda sexyies (I totally just made that word up) it up, doesn't it? I guess that kind of fits with the gumiho idea.

OOOHH! I agree with you to Lovekorea #5 --- oh jeez, I can't imagine that Kim Tae Hee would be able to become an Gumiho leading role. Is it interesting, it is? Heh.

I love this chick! It's cool that she'll be getting another lead role and that we'll get to "Awww...." at Seo Shin Ae again. By the way, I love the banner featuring Goo Hye Sun and her paintbrush. She couldn't possibly produce any work of art as beautiful as is she!

Thank god she's not playing her usual "other jealous woman" role! I love her and she looks so beautiful!

yeah, JB, you forgot to mention Kim Tae Hee who played a gumiho in Forbidden Love/Tale of the Nine-Tailed Fox/Gumiho with Jo Hyun Jae as the object of her love. Other members of her gumiho clan are Jun Jin, Han Ye Seul, Uhm Tae Wong. IMO, she is the most beautiful actress to take on the Gumiho role to date.
@ #6 CAM - Kim Tae Hee and Jo Hyun Jae's Gumiho drama is a very interesting drama. It has plenty of action, mystery, and romance, of course. Give it a try and you won't regret it. For more info on this 2004 drama, visit this site http://jo-hyun-jae.com/category/jhj-drama-forbidden-love/

@Choufy I am also intrigued by this one. Hope this doesn't start a spate of gumiho frenzy for me because I can't say I've ever watched a gumiho drama before.
I always thought Han Eun Jung suited this role. Women and their wiles. She's a foxy one to be sure...

Hopefully she is doing good in this drama , she is not bad actress but for me she does not have charm in acting . I don't like her in Seoul 1945 , too bad this drama is supposed to be meaningful historical drama regarding K war , likely Seoul 1945 is too big for her and other casts to handle .

When I first saw her picture I thought I was looking at Yuko Takeuchi. The resemblance is pretty strong.
