I'm URDU subbing PT for ViiKii.
I love to come to dramabeans to get her twist on the drama. She always has me laughing. She catches things that I some times miss.
I'm equally addicted to dramabeans and viikii. I think it is a symbiotic relationship.

oh! can't wait to read your WHIB review. I've never watched it but i've heard things here and there and i've always wondered, "What the heck happened in Bali?!?!" so, thanks :) I always enjoy your witty writing.
as for PT, i've only watched the first 4 eps but I've read thru the recaps ( i couldn't help it!!) and then went and watched PT11& 12 raw. sigh. LMH really is love. I would like one order of JinHo please. with a side of SangJoon. thx.

How was it? I need to continue this. Ip Man 1 was really good. I miss raw martial arts movies. I'm getting tired of all the Matrix effects and circus acrobatics. The last martial arts film I saw was a Thai flick called Chocolate.

I'll have to add 20 mins to my aerobics workout to cancel those additive calories on your behalf, but... heck, I only live once, for you dearest... sure. =)
I recommend "Schemes of a Beauty" Chinese series out now. Ruby Lin is marvelous in this one.

Hello Everyone! Happy Friday!
Who else went OMG at the end of this weeks episodes of Prosecutor Princess??? I'm worrying about the fate of our InHye couple for the next couple of episode because there's only 4 left and I have no clue what the writer will do as it's been kinda unpredictable lately.

I have the Viikii plug-in, and the longer I leave it on, the bigger memory drain it becomes (whether I'm watching Viikii videos or not). I've caught it taking up 200,000 kb of memory before. That is a BIG problem.
Another problem is that I can't prevent it from opening on start-up when I reboot. When I take it off of auto-start-up via msconfig (or any other method), it stays off only until the next time I open it manually, at which point it automatically enables it again to open on start-up. This is annoying on its on, but compounded with the memory problem, it becomes even more so. There is absolutely no reason the plug-in has to be on all the time, and therefore no reason for it to start automatically. I shouldn't have to manually shut it down on every reboot so it doesn't become a resource hog.
Maybe mine has become defective or gotten infected or something, but it really behaves like some sort of virus.

Happy Friday!
I'm done with the semester as of today! And now it's time to find a summer job in this economy to alleviate some of those grad school loans...
...and time to catch up on all the dramas i.e. Cinderella's sister, personal taste, prosecutor princess, ps man (hopefully it got better since i last left it at ep 5 or 6), down with love, and start Yankee-kun to Megane-chan (ockoala, i'm glad you mentioned it because I had totally forgotten it had started airing already!)
My parents just started Brilliant Legacy with the Chinese dub. is it just the Chinese dubbing the voices and music or does the drama seem really REALLY old-school?

Brilliant Legacy or (Shining Inheritance) was kind of old school, but I still liked it . I saw it with English subtitles. I've never seen a Korean dubbed drama. It would be wonderful if someone could dub Kdramas in English. (That would be top on my list of wishes, after world peace and loosing some weight :P

Our girl HR has officially Lost. Her. Mojo!! I don't like this, don't like it at all!
Remember back in episode 3 & 4 when she kept on taking the beatings - both verbal and physical, but she'd cry it out (like, really loudly) and then immediately bounce right back into the ring again in true warrior spirit? And she proved all her critics wrong?
That's the HR I love, and miss. That was SJ's HR.
THIS HR is IW's HR and I don't like her all depressed, lost and confused. Damn it, IW! The girl can't even cry properly anymore - like she has a huge lump in her throat, it's so tragic.
MHR! Step away from the darkness that is IW, and run! run! run! RUN! back towards the light that is General Choi, he'll protect you, forever and ever.

@ 35 Babes and about ten other people on this post:
OMG what are you waiting for??? Subs are up on Viikii, why aren't you watching PT 12 NOW???
Well actually I know, you all have lives outside of dramas and have that thing called self-restraint. I think I lost that somewhere between high school and college... X____X So jealous!
ANYWAY. The thing about ep 12's end (trying to be non-spoilery) is that it seems REALLY out of the blue and unexpected and WTF at first, but when you think about it there are actually clues that lead up to it... the whole mystery of Sang Go Jae that the father was trying to hide. I'm just wondering if certain people will ever be their normal selves again and how Jin Ho will get himself out of a mess that when revealed will be more painful to someone than we could have imagined...
Well, it's a Korean drama. What can you expect? Although to be honest I was expecting (hoping for) Jin Ho to get seriously hurt or something, at the hands of like Chan Ryul's father and people from work once he refuses to use Kae In's place and perhaps an angry In Hee that sees this as some kind of last resort (imagine her trying to make Jin Ho get amnesia so that he'll forget Kae In and then she can take him? Because she's seen so many Asian dramas and that's what happens when you get hit on the head? XDD). I mean, Kae In got knocked unconscious, Chan Ryul almost got hit by a car and got knocked unconscious, Jin Ho told his mother and Kae In that he would die without her, so OBVIOUSLY something's gotta happen to Jin Ho. (After the current issue gets resolved though and they're almost together again. Oh, and nothing would EVER happen to In Hee of course. Even if it's in our wildest dreams. Unless she pretends... NOOOO!!!!)

Really, supah, you never fail to make my day!! :D
HR has her reasons to be depressed, not only because of IW!! The fact that (perhaps, it's still not sure) his father did some nasty stuff would've blown up in her face whether IW was there or not. And the lover's angst is an unavoidable plot point for kdramas.
I gues your fighting HR will come back in episode 13, to kick IW's ass. I hope so.
Girl, Se-joon has bipolar disorder or what??? I prefer my stalker In-woo and not depressing, wife mourner, full of allucinations Se-joon.

Ip Man 2 was good. I haven't see the 1st one, I was planning to watch it before I see the 2nd, but I didn't find time.
But apparently they don't really related in terms of story, so I still can enjoy it.
It's good, and I haven't watched martial art movies, since... Hero? so this is so much fun and brings my memories of the Once Upon a Time in China's series.
You should watch it.

I believe that 38 pinkdrama actually meant to say, "jjang" which means "great" "awesome" ( any korean speaker who is able to correct me? )
while "jajjang" --- or "jajjangmyun" ( or jajangmyeon : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jajangmyeon ) is noodle with black soybeans paste.

@Lessaofpern: I agree, I love dramabeans since javabeans, girlfriday, samsooki, and the rest of the gang keep my love for dramas sated (I refuse to admit I'm addicted... Signs number one of addiction: denial). I just wish people would be a little more appreciative towards ALL subbers (ViiKii, Haruharu, WITH Subs, etc) because these are people (including yourself) not getting paid to do this. They are taking times from their lives to sub these dramas. So my hope is: Let's share our love for dramas, not start a drama....
@ supah: But IW is so yummy! Ok, I admit, I'm not an avid follower since I can only handle CS and OML right now because school and work is an evil but necessary force in life.... but when I do tune in, I find that IW is scrumptious.... But ok, I admit, General Choi has the chiseled look and well toned (read: HOT, greatly built, SEXY) body working for him.. And the heartbroken, single dad thing wins him points though..

@8, it's true that Korean dramas have a huge following worldwide, but KBS, MBC and SBS make no money from you watching these programs from your computer. So there is no reason why they would subtitle these shows from Korea. I watch MBC shows from MBC America which caters to the US audience. They don't even subtitle all their programs here. I was so disappointed that Man of God had no English subtitle.

I prefer a fishing rod with a cute flower pot and not to be the face of a dead person. It's not that I like dishonest people, don't misunderstand... I'm subbing in Roman Urdu if there is such a thing. I can speak Urdu, but can't write it. So I'm winging it on Viikki. I'm struggling, because it takes me a while to think up some words in Urdu. @ockoala - let's see if you also grin madly at the Kimutaku uttering of "Maybe..." after watching Pride. Or maybe even blush a little. 8-) Yeah, I'll be kicking Tsuki no Koibito up on the computer. I'm a sucker, I know!
So far Yankee-kun is Nobuta-ish in feel. I like it at this point. (btw, I'm doing a little subbing on it in Viikii when every one else is having trouble getting access and I can get in, and you can really tell when the Weds/Thurs shows hit the system... I'm reminded a little of YB when that one show was taking sites down. With 3 popular shows generating traffic, it's just a problem. I'm also starting to chat with the open source subtitlers at Mozilla....I think they may need a reality check on their universal tool set - but that's still WAY in development - not even alpha, it's still programming.)
It is a shame about AMCG isn't it. With any luck the last few episodes will redeem it, but honestly Sol Pharmacy Dad and Jang Ho are the only thing that has saved the last few episodes for me. Even if Kim Min Jong is playing possibly the most psychotic guy ever to trot through a k-drama with his life intact so far.
BTW, anyone up in arms about PP's In Woo and his revenge plan needs to take a gander at AMCG - where in Michael King (aka the hilariously named Peter Pan, or the ordinary Choi Kang Ta) has no fewer than 3 different women being manipulated at various levels for his revenge plan.
And OY! Over there....hands off General Choi - I saw him first, and still want him for Xmas.
I'm going to suffer through Dong Yi for the sake of making sure the parental units are happy, but it's sucking the life out of my saguek loving heart. I'd rather repeat the gut wrenching of CitC or Damo than be nibbled to death by ducks by the backstabbing court members of Dong Yi. And it's not like it's BAD. It's just so old school saguek at this point.
Let's see, to summarize the nicknames - we have PIE, Pi, Lee Min Ho-My-God!, K!R!W!, Bummie, Binnie, the Cabana Boy - am I missing anyone, I think I am....
Okay, back to fixing that file for my friendly testers! That's what I get for editing on 2 machines - uploaded the old file. 8-(

@ #3 Om, I am with u. I was a huge fan for the Taiwanese drama Autumn Concerto. The first thing i did every sunday morning (it is being aired Sunday nite in Taiwan and I don't need translation) was to download it. The the few episodes were ordinary in this genre of dramas, but it gets really good after the time leap of 6 yrs later. The end was kinda draggy, but still, I love it. It is a good Taiwanese drama in a long time.
I really did enjoy the latest 4 episodes of Oh My Lady. The plot is making good progression, although not so much of romantic development i would hope. The super cute little Ye-eun wins my heart every time she appears. At the end of th every episode start on ep12, i went "omo, omo, omo!!!" Now, can't wait for ep 15. Btw, does anyone know how many episodes is this drama? I hope they don't cramp all the plots in the last few episodes if it is ending soon.

Ok, AA!
I too root for his redemption, I really feel for the poor kid, but deception (and sexual assault - hee hee!) is a mega sin. He's had many chances to come clean, instead he continued with his plans. Once you lose that opportunity, you've lost it for good.
Aah, SJ yes, he may have avoided her like the plague before - which was perfectly logical, for one she was quite ridiculous right at at the start, but he very gradually warmed up to her, because she earned that much. He's always been honest - his words and actions never betray his true feelings and since he took his sweet time warming up to her, it's only because he was able to differentiate clearly between HR and Eun-ji.
HR deserves someone stable and honest (and sexy, and chiselled... and gorgeous) like him. And it's pretty symbolic really that she can carry him on her back. Hahaha!
IW's real self was not the cute flowerpot guy at ALL! The real IW is sulky and mindscrewy.

Don't hate me PP fans, but uuuuugh, my interest in the series is now draining (at least in the romantic aspect). I guess I had the small hope that for once, the obvious meant-to-be-couple wouldn't fall for one another in this one...but, no, I always knew MHR would eventually fall for IW. Blegh. I'm annoyed they teased everyone with that faux-love triangle. Why even bother giving any time to MHR and SJ together when that's not even gonna happen? I just felt like my time was wasted.
Yeah, yeah, I was a shipper of them to some extents.
Bah, whatever, I'll still watch this one to the end; I'll just be grumbling and complaining all the while (that's happened with so many dramas it's not funny anymore).

Someone asked about the difference in styles from K-, TW-,. and J-dramas. I'm no expert but I'll give it a shot (I'd leave it to belleza and mookie to take this to a whole nother level). Not a lot of folks watch ALL three genres, but I think this group is growing. mookie and I also watch(ed) many HK/TVB dramas and some C-dramas (only if our loverboy is in it!) - if anyone is curious about those.
TW-dramas (discussion covered only from MG onward, i.e. anything after 2001 really) - TW dramas are very idol-focused, the leads are the hook rather than the story, and oftimes it feels like the story is written around the leads (unless its a manga-adaptation). The presentation is very centralized, you see only the story in front of you, with no contextual presentation of time, space or reality. It's akin to flipping through snapshots in a photoarray. It's usually only a handful of folks with 95% of the screentime, and the plot is very situationally rather than emotionally focused. There is rarely any message to be taken away. Length is 13-20 episodes. TW has one main genre: the idol rom-com. No one does period or thriller pieces anymore, its migrated to C-dramas. Exception done well: Black & White. TW-acting stable is the smallest, hence the same actors/actresses will appear in various pairings all the time. TW couples tend to fight a lot and pretend they don't like each other. Recycled doesn't mean bad. ISWAK is commonly recommended.
J-doramas (I'd say I can go back to early 90s, starting from Hitotsu Yane no Shita through KimuTaku and now onward to MatsuJun/Kame/Yamapi generation) - J-doramas are split into varying genres: school. sports, rom, detective, daeha, and some more. I find J-style to be more episodic (even if its not lesson of the day, most roms have each ep wrapping up one segment, then onward to next segment type of deal). I feel J's integrate socio-cultural issues into its dramas, and the pieces reflect location and feels more living, breathing (TW dramas tend to be more static). J's average 11 eps in length, more willing to do specials and or season 2s. I may be wrong, I stopped watching J's for awhile but after picking back up on some new ones, the style hasn't changed much, if at all (just a whole new group of kids to love). J couples tend to spend much more time meta-wondering if they like each other. @ momosan recommended lots of great j-doramas in the last OT, check it out!
K-dramas (uh, I profess no firsthand knowledge, all of this is gleaned through the mastery of Shifu JB) - K-dramas give me a much more emotional attachment to the characters. The style is a blend between J and TW (you glimpse the characters in a social context, but most scenes are still quite one-on-one or intimate group interactions). K-dramas tend to put emotion over plot, and may manipulate plot to drive the emotion (but I don't mind in the least when done right). K-dramas rarely recycle OTP pairings of fave actor/actresses (seriously, I need to have words with the PDs). K-couples tend to figure out earlier they like each other, but can't be together bc of a variety of factors.
Just my 2 cents, but all three genres have many gems, and I think we're just lucky to have so many different types of dramas (and hot men, gorgeous women in TW, Japan and Korea for us to drool over and swoon about).
And lastly, Buzzer Beat appears to have stepped one foot into k-drama territory - what with the emphasis on the emotional issues, the lots of showering/bathing scenes, mostly with Our Pi but really with lots and lots of choco abs all around (OMG, not complaining, not at all!~), the gloriously mondo amounts of OTP interacting at one place (okay, this is a very J thing, like the Hokari couple in the house steps, the BB couple owns the bench at the playground), the lots and lots (for a J-dorama) kissing, back hugs, spooning all night (squeeeee....), and plenty of near misses (you know, the classic-type K-drama elevator door, airport walkby, hotel circular door, that stuff), a total 100% not even a threat second male lead, and a manipulative bitchy second female lead. Yup, BB is my latest catnip. It's not nothing new, but has some heart thump. So eh, a nice 6 hours spent (highly recommend FF button w/ any basketball and non-OTP scenes).
I'm not recommending BB, only discussing what makes some of it work for me. :-P

This is a long shot, but does any one know the title of the instrumental song (guitar) in Personal Taste? It's played throughout the series, but in particular during the "game over kiss" scene.

@momosan
Manipulating 3 women for revenge plans? That must explain the title AMCG, then, this manipulating women business really isn't easy. Especially if you go by how much IW is suffering for it and has had to trim his hair to look like he's come out of military bloody service!!
Hey, you can have General Choi, I just want his alter ego Yoon Se-joon! MINE!

Don't forget: Team Park Kyu! and POOR BIDAM! :-)
AMCG - *fingers crossed* but alas, like Autumn's Concerto losing me around episode 16, what with the worst non-acting by a doing so far so good female lead - yeah, Mu-cheng, I'm talking to you!, when Tuo-ye (the best oppa since Jun-se oppa bounced on screen) was serving his still beating heart on a platter to the love of his life, and Mu-cheng has a look like she was just beaned by a handball and was still orienting North-South-East-West, and also thinking maybe she forgot to turn off the stove before she left the house - I may have already checked out of AMCG. I have zero urge to watch, but unlike AC, I do still love the OTP, so will continue out of goodwill built up by Kim Min-Jong doing his fullblown psycho in a handbasket act.
Good luck continuing to suffer through Dong Yi, thank god my mom is not requiring me to watch it with her. I have no problems with old-school saguek, for some reason Dong Yi is suffering from the case of the herky-jerky - like, you can feel that it wants to go modern and take risks like Chuno, but doesn't really know how to do it (so it doesn't), and it doesn't have the histrionics of QSD (as delivered by Mishil and Bidam) to raise it above pure mediocre fare.
I will keep popping in occasionally, maybe HHJ will hit her stride, but I'm not feeling the OTP at all. If anyone was miscast, stone me now, it was JJH. I don't care if BSB is not a bigger name, and this is totally not Eun-sung/Jun-se shipping in me talking, BSB was really a much better fit to play the Emperor. My ha'penny opinion.

I can't believe I forgot Team Park Kyu! Let alone ALAS POOR BIDAM aka the sexy bastard. And, the Voice - I forgot the Voice! How did that happen?
BTW, the other day before Dong Yi came on MBC America, they had an entertainment show on that was talking about Pasta and MNIKSS. They were attempting to compare the two shows, apparently on the grounds that both were kinda centered in a restaurant. Um. No. After a few minutes of listening to them (and I liked Pasta for the best flirting around) I wanted to throw bricks at the screen because they were so not getting it - they were managing to do a disservice to both shows. And bizarrely, Pasta finished last week on MBC America, so I'm not even sure what the whole point of that show was, since it wasn't promoting either show.
