Oh Noes...don't let the overcast day in SF fool you...I hope you can get yourself some aloe vera (ointment)for that sun burnt. Hydrate yourself( PLENTY of water).As for shopping, Union Square and Embaccadero are both shopping havens. They are not CHEAP,though. If your friend have the time,and you wanted to, go to the outlets(sometimes the SAME companies but at a even lower price).
I'm glad that you're having a blast in my hometown. I moved from there to So Cal years ago(God,has it been 25yrs??),but I go back there every chance I can( Mom & family still live there ;)
Have fun for the rest of your visit....

@supah: I'm positively gutted. IW got a gift. It's okay.... I guess.

I wish Jins progression in story didn't involve pictures that were supposably taken by her (as we saw in the scene) but then later on everyone is looking at them on a computer and they look like magazine ads.... Oh look how charming I am when I hold cotton candy. Then she went back to wearing her glasses. Um. Ok.

Giant looks like it could be interesting. Okay, it looks like it's going to be crazy town. People are falling out of a buildings there. Hmmm.... haha.

@Retta: I will take the challenge. Give me two dramas you like and one drama you hated and I should be able to find something for you!

@Janna - he HAS got a gift, even as a tragic, wretched bastard en route to self-destruction, he has a gift. Now that we're seeing this real and raw IW, it really hurts.

Don’t feel gutted about SJ, there’s still hope. In fact, I’m glad they brought up the JS-SJ dynamic now rather than dragging out for later, because I (personally) feel their relationship is built on his guilt towards her, and they’d better get these feelings dealt with and out of the way now (only 5 episodes left!). Those photos were emailed over by JS’ pushy mother and Bin, as a prod to get their relationship moving. And I refuse to read too much into his reaction, it was too subtle (no alarm bells rang atleast) for it to be groundbreaking.
I would say SJ and IW are still very much rivals, even though the story and characters are transforming drastically. I refuse to believe HR’s feelings towards SJ were trivial, all her exertions for him had to mean something, they must! And I’m not just saying it.
SJ is also working on the same case as HR, albeit a different facet of it (MST's side of things), I don’t know whether they’ll unite as a team or go against one another, a bit of both? Let’s wait and see.

@V - I didn’t mean pathetic in the way you’re thinking. I meant pathetic as in she was so, very ‘weak’!

On a completely seperate note, I can kinda understand now why Bad Guy was pulled as PP's follow up, it would've been darkness overload, so it wasn't solely a ratings monopoly I don't think. Still refuse to watch I am Legend though, cus I'm a weirdo like that, taking my bitterness out on the wrong thing. --Unless the male lead is like Binnie (or someone similarly OTPish next to KSA) or something..?

@mookie et al CU watchers :::SPOILERS::::

did you watch ep 11? BB is such as badass as daddy hong. manipulating the story of KH's mom to his advantage. i felt so bad for KJ as he's reliving it. such a small scene, and it had such an impact on me. i hate that daddy hong is forcing KJ's hand even more now.. AND we get a glimpse that KJ is interested in EJ. brotherly competition AGAIN.

and that opening scene.. broke my heart again. EJ's apology and calling out "appa" is so intense. she didn't even realize how loud she was... BOTH guys heard her.. and neither can do anything for her at the moment.. cuz she just has to cry it all out.

and my fangirl is back.. C!J!M! smile.. *melts*

@lb_tmi

Yours and mookie's comment are giving me hope. I'm so totally dying to watch ep11.

Meantime, I went out after being glued to my computer screen till 3pm for a little shopping and a Taiwanese massage in Ginza area, even there, back ground music was K pop! Anyway, on my way there and back, I took Yamanote line. Both ways, I ended up ridding on trains with Yamapi's posters plastered all over on exterior. The entire 12 -15? cars were covered by Yamapi's faces and some sort of drinks he's promoting. How cool is that?

@momosan,

I did caught up with Yankee & megane chan this afternoon before I left. Now, I'm hooked. It's getting better, cuter and also reflects upon some pretty serious problems amongst school kids there(I mean here) in Japan. I shall continue following this one. Thank you for your reminder <3

Watched Sunaoni narenakute just now. I'm liking this one a lot as well. Jae is doing a decent job! Oh, even saw some previews of Moon lovers. I'm more interested in Shota kun than Kimtaku at this moment. Come Monday, it'll starts!

Anyhow, for most of you, good morning and for me, good night.

@lb_tmi on CU11 *SPOILERS*

O betcha, I did. I like it as an episode, but conflicted on what to think/feel on many levels. In a way THAT juxtaposed scene is a logical 'progression' of the EJ/KH stagnancy, I've been expecting it, but still breaks my heart to really see it.

I mean my feelings for writer-shi is very conflicted, yes it's not as brilliantly magical as ep 1-4, but she did some ballsy moves. How often r we 11 eps in, where our OTP hasnt really 'consummate' their sizzling THEN millions circumstances break them apart?! Nope, all we got is just cold reality of they cant be together, nope, and reaffirmed some more.

And we got a darker and selfish side of KH in that ambulance scene, he's not getting many if any brownie points for eps now and she is gutsy enough to bring him even further down... yet we feel for him. His relationship w/ KJ has so many parallels to HS/EJ's

and no C!J!M! fangirl can not get a kick out of that ep, so yes, IDEALLY I want an angsty, sin-purging cold shower (if it's this precious, I dun want steam to be in the way) AFTER that befitting kneeling atonement + wrenching EJ exchange. But he's so freakn hawt in all his outfits I dont mind them on at all. And the smiling PIE is just too disarming, we know he's putting up a warm front for the girls, but PIE, that smile on urs really is not for the faint of heart and he kept flashing it.. too much charm for that poor EJ's heart to calm down, and take him as some guardian ajusshi ONLY.

I dun know, after the ep sunk in, I feel sad and doomed for them even when they r at a new normal, that happier front is barely covering up all that angst underneath.

I'm enjoying Yankee-kun as well. 8-) The subs are starting to come up for Shinzanmono, so I'm going to start watching that as well. I don't really need subs for Yankee-kun so that goes faster.

I'm glad I'm banking CS, too much melo for me right now!

Dong Yi - it did start on MBC America this week. So, far so good, although the production qualities are about 1/2 of that of Chuno or QSD. It's more of the Jewel in the Palace type thing.

I stayed in the union square area when I was in SF for a business trip last year and also ate at that exact cheesecake factory. I was with my co-workers from Minnosota and they really really wanted to eat there.

In terms of food in SF I love the Slanted Door, Kokkari Estiatorio, Hog Island Oyster Co ( which is next to the slanted door), RG lounge for chinese crabs, In N Out Burger, and the Taco trucks. As a NYer who can't find good mexican around here, SF is like manna from heaven for mexican.

Also the outdoor green markets is fantastic and huge compared to the ones in NYC. I also always try to fit time in to go to Napa Valley since its close. Love the French Laundry, Bucheon and Bistro Jeanty.

I have't watched any kdrama this week so avoiding any posts with spoilers.

C U guys next OT!

@supah
if it makes you feel any better, I actually agree that HR's feelings for SJ weren't trivial.
nor were SJ's feelings of HR.
and ur probably right about why they removed Bad Guy... and haha... i'm with you on I am Legend... I have no current intentions to watch it either just because of that. :) does it mean we're both weirdos?
it was quite fun discussing PP with you! LOL
@staples
well, it depends what kind of j-dramas you would like to watch...
if you're aiming for the pure romance kind, you can start with Pride, or Long Vacation, or Love Generation with KimuTaku, or Hana Yori Dango (which is basically Meteor Garden, and Boys over Flowers. lol), Proposal Daisakusen, Kimi wa Petto.
Otherwise, go to jdorama.com... they have a list of best 50 or 100 jdramas (forgot the exact number) and I would agree with 99% of what's on the list as a good drama.
@eiko
thank you for being so nice! It was lovely talking with you.
and yeah, PP 11 was quite some ep.

@ mookie and celestialorigins ::: more CU SPOILERS!:::

i felt EJ got a little robbed during the bimibap making/feeding scene. yes, PIE is all sorts of smiling and warm outside. but the blocking of the spoons held such pent up tension between the two.. and then HS breaks it up w/ the feeding of her "dad" and "mom". cuz isn't that what they are to her now? they've both made the same vow.. borrowing from girlfriday--they are so in tune w/ eachother-- that they are both putting up these warm fronts for the sake of HS (and a part of me while watching this wanted to stick my tongue out at girlfriday and JB and say "see? EJ does have her own sort of caring/like of HS" tho i would NEVER do that. ;) ) and again, when EJ is just about to wipe HS's face, the ajusshi's come a calling.. and EJ doesn't finish her action.. EJ is trying.. just like she said she would, but the circumstances aren't helping her.

i didn't think KH was all dark or too selfish in the ambulance scene, which i've been waiting for it to happen!! cuz i couldn't believe that they would let DS die w/out KH doing something for him.. even if it was a little selfish. but don't forget, KH is still a wounded young one that needs reassurance--and he did get it from DS. he needed to get it from DS.

and THAT scene.. oh.. EJ knocking him down another peg.. but i love that she actually went to him! but WHY did he have to say that to her when he's the one who called her? ugh.

i did love the meaning behind JW's gift to EJ tho. he's still so sweet. and it makes so much sense now.. cuz it is what she needed... cuz she really is starving. he knows her so well.

and yes... a shower sin-purging scene is DEFINITELY needed. no steam tho.. steam fogs up the lenses and won't be able to show PIE as he needs to be seen.

p.s. my lasik is tomorrow morning!!! i'll be watching ep 12 with my "new" eyes!!!!

@98 of the previous page or @staples

j-dramas have their own quirks. It often helps if you know they were developed from a manga, because then you won't be freaked out by some of the OTT sudden manga-madness that can occur. They also have a genre that doesn't seem to occur much in k-drama - the school drama. I'm particularly fond of Otomen and Nodame Cantabile, however YMMV.

They do have a weird tendency to do "lesson of the day" type episodes. And we're not even talking subtle - just flat out knock you over the head with it.

You'll also see more cop dramas. Don't know why.

Anyway, my top j-drama is Pride. Just love that to death. Romance, Kimutaku, hockey, score by Queen, what more could you want? (well, other than a girl who hasn't figured out that if the guy hasn't called in 2 years that she's been dumped). That and Beautiful Life are probably the most k-drama like j-dramas around, which is probably why I like them so much. Strangely, I HATE Engine, which also has Kimutaku doing a fine job but otherwise could have used some serious rewriting.

Not in any particular order, but j-dramas I'd recommend....
Kimi wa Petto, Otomen, Nodame, Nobuta wa Produce, Pride, Hero, Hana Kimi,
and I'm going to keep recommending Honjitsu mo Hare, Ijo Nashi until someone else watches the daggone thing!

Or you could do what many of us have done before - find an actor and just go down the list of credits and enjoy. 8-) I personally have an Abe Hiroshi rule. He's rarely in a real clunker, so if he's in something, I'll give it a look.

o good luck w/ the surgery tomorrow! We'll be virtually holding ur hands, it's nerve wrecking and that's the worst part of it all.

err.. girlfriend, I think u should stay away fr screens and such post-op, :) u'll be hyper sensitive to lights. I actually got my LASIK done in HKG and went out to 'celebrate' that same night. I need to wear my sunglasses even in line for the loo.

CU11 *spoilers*

o I'm not saying KH is all dark and selfish, no...but it's darker than I thought he's capable of...in that moment on the ambulance (I do love that extra DS/KH scene as well), to still put his own motives a priority over poorpoorpoor DS (I dont have a prob w/ KH's motives, it's not honorable per se, but I've never doubted his intention, trying to do everything possible to minimize the pain on the DS clan in the inevitable hostile takeover arc) . it just irked me that IF DS is not this HUGE person in his last breath, forgiving and comforting KH w/ 'It's ok.' He wont come to his senses sooner, just in time before DS' goner than gone. I'm glad he's steadfast in recognizing his sin and repent. (I do appreciate he's not ridden w/ guilt just by default of him directly causing DS' heart attack, but more on himself being overwhelmed and taken over by his ambitions to wishing him not to die partly for his own good (however minute) than completely for DS' well-being, THAT is a very legitimate fault)

oh THAT scene I love, (haha I do love that letter scene vehemently as well in 9) it's just pure OTP chemistry and that VO by both of them... so deftly cut... This drama has the most poignant VO, better than their real lines if I may, and these 2 characters r really so in sync *girlfridayTM* they almost never speak out loud what they really think nowadays, and even if KH himself may not rem what went thro his drunken mind that rendezvous 8 yrs ago, he's fully conscious he wants her now, wants her to come to him, in his head... and when she turns, that tremendous urge slips out to a call out w/o his control.

and for the record THEY SHOULD AT LEAST HUG (preferably by me makeout on the dirt under the moonlight! and all subsequent shoulder petting scene should be HUGS!! ARGH), but I guess that touch by her and the subsequent withdrawal woke him to his senses. Again not everything is spoken, but they r so on the same page, they r not trying to hide their feelings for each other, but at the same time, reached the conclusion they r not meant to be and they have to let go, move on.

What troubled me when the ep sets in, is now EJ regards KH as a father figure?! That messes w/ me. I'm fine w/ girls falling for guys w/ their superdaddy to model after, but to translate one's romantic feelings for a guy to that of your father figure and replacing it... is somewhat incestual to me

HS breaks my heart, she's been breaking my heart w/ every drop of her tears, usu I'm a hardened b8tch to constantly crying characters, but I would be a crying mess like her in her shoes even if I hate it, I so wanna hug her (and PIE and EJ) and eat bimbap, drink makgulli w/ her

JW is still cute as a button, but EJ doesnt care for him more than a very loyal puppy. That brioche sealed it for me, if she thought of him anyway other than a caring dongseng, she wont be ready to carry that pin around. Not when she's still crying for KH.

@momosan, o we have similar dorama taste! :) Doramas give me the variety, I esp like those more family-oriented dramas (that explain my love for CU as well) Bara no nai Hanaya or Kaze no Garden...Honjitsu mo Hare, Ijo Nashi looks like my thing, I'll definitely check that out after CU. Abe is also my eternal safe choice, he himself elevated Shiroi Haru for me. I'm still on the fence for Shinzanmono after its just alright ep1 imo. It's not bad, but detective doramas is really not hitting my kinks, I do not care for Bloody Monday, Boss, Mr Brain, Tokyo Dog and the likes...esp when the drama can be well acted, well paced, decently written, then suffers crucial debilitating plot holes.

I really liked Beautiful Life, it was a diff and sincere Kimutaku (imo he's trying way too hard in Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi, I noticed the strokes) I agree, it's a perfect blend of Kmelo and Jdorama understated finesse.

I'm also starting YankeeKun, dev another soft spot for Narimiya Hiroki, he's the only 1 kept me going in Innocent Love.

@nycgrl, *le sigh* I gave it 2 chances already, and the old shaking beef is definitely no more. :( not worth wasting a meal over. *sob*

Note: These are just general post op instructions; there is NO monetary tranctions involved

@ib_tmi
I don't know where you are having your LASIK ( and I'm sure the staff are well qualified),but you do have to limit your activities post op.
Most patients will see clearly immediately post procedure,however since you will be light sensitive for a few days, I would not 1)do any outdoor activities,2)no hair washing for 48 hrs(it will be fine) (this is to avoid any chemical irritaions from soap/shampoo 3) if possible,no computer activities since a)you need to rest your eyes b)the screen will be 'very brite to you post op and c) we don't want any decrease in blink rate secondary to prolonged computer use(and yes, I know how long we're on it to watch kdrama and OT,hehe)

Good luck, relax, follow ALL post op instructions( use your meds( antibiotics/anti-inflammatory meds AND rewetting drops)) We will be here even a few days later,so don't worry if you're not on for a while ....take care =P

@ mookie and cingdoc

thanks for the advice!!! i was not going to watch any tv or dramas until at least a week afterwards.. tho i do have to work on Mon.. staring at my 'puter screen for 8 hrs a day. but my supervisor understands that i'm not actually gonna be staring at my 'puter for 8 hrs a day. i just meant that i'd be seeing the next ep of CU w/ my new eyes.. (CU 12 will prolly be up and subbed before my scheduled surgery, but i don't wanna strain my old eyes or make them puffy and teary before hand.. so i'm putting off watching CU 12 until next week. OH THE TORTURE!!)

i've already got planned a nice day of relaxing to my mp3 and napping the day away.. waking only to put drops in my eyes and eat.. rinse and repeat for Saturday and Sunday.

i've already got my sunglasses in the car ready and waiting to be worn on the drive home :)

i love all my DB family.. thanks!

::: CU 11 SPOILERS::::

can't someone just give HS a hug? i mean, seriously. her dad just died. HUG HER! i don't know how many times i yelled this at my screen. the scene where HS holds the picture of DS and falls on her bed, crying herself to sleep.. so.sad. and the rejection when she brings her pillow w/ her to KS's room and sleeps beside KS.. the courage and loneliness HS must have been feeling to go to KS, only to have KS tell her to remove her dirty hand!!! and i'm glad KS is feeling crappy. she should. she should have loved DS more while he was around. she should have treated HS better because she wanted to.. not because DS was watching. i hope the guilt eats at her more and more.. until she comes to the realization that she needs HS just as much as HS needs her.

i can't even start on the last scenes.. the interactions between HS and KS and the tea.. HS and EJ.. EJ and KS.. EJ and KH.. i was a mess watching it thru my tears.. i could barely read the subs. and i don't even want to think about what the answer is gonna be.. i'm just gonna take a week and fantasize about what i want KH to answer and go w/ that. ha!

@momosan: I watched Honjitsu mo Hare, Ijo Nashi. I also watched Ruri no Shima. Small island dramas always make me :D.

@mookie: Yeah, I meant earlier that KH needed to wash off the evil, that's what I meant. He not "evil evil" but yeah....he's in a bad place mentally right now.

Shinzanmono is kind of draggy. If it was a movie or a two part special it might have fared better. There is no back and forth dynamics between the characters. A really good "one investigation for the entire show" cop drama is Gonzo. But if that type of drama isn't your cup of tea, it'd be hard to watch Shinzanmono.

PP12:

SPOILERS!!

What did PPers think of 12? It was kind of confusing, I liked its pace and that the characters got their shit together (after the edge of the knife type intensity of the previous episode) and slotted right back into their game again, but at the same time it had really depressing, sad undertones. And really HR, it's called Stockholm syndrome, pull yourself out of it - slapslap!
I liked the developments though - lots of questions answered and the cliffhanger = O-SUM!
Honestly speaking, I'm not afraid of her dad at all, whatever happened may have been a mistake? And since IW was 'distant' in this episode, all that pain and sympathy I had felt for him in 11 diminished - and now I just think he's scary.

@janna

I LURVE Ruri no Shima (Yutaka <3333), I'm so bumping up Honjitsu mo Hare, Ijo Nashi. I also have a thing for island dramas, that is oddly due to my crazy obsession of And Then There Were None.

I do love detective stories, maybe too much, take eg Galileo, it's not awful, BUT when the crucial flaw in logic lies exactly AT the climax of case solving, after all that pretty blackboard drawing fanfare, I'm beyond annoyed. I can do w/o the hotness of a spec'd Masuharu or the big named cameos IF I get mUCH tighter writing in exchange. I have Gonzo banked, I've heard good things about it, and ur recommendation gives me an extra push.

ahhhh CU12 *SPOILERS* (actually not so much)

I'm not going to tempt....but there's a coffee house scene of PIE where the music is that Jason Mraz song fr What's Up Fox and he SMILESS! and w/ that I'm happy.

Ah, I see you watched Tokyo Dogs! LOL!

I actually like most of the j-drama cop shows - but it's surprising how much I'm willing to put up with in a j-drama that wouldn't fly at all in a k-drama. Just a different style, I think. I mean - Ghost Friends - would be a total WTH!? in k-drama, but seems fairly reasonable in a j-drama!

@ V

SPOILERS!

I don't quite know what this drama's doing anymore, so backing away on the whole SJ v IW thing (momentarily).
Heck, I don't mind even if she does end up with IW, the SJ v IW thing was hella fun while it lasted (and might resume still!) but I'm really confused as to where the writers are leading us with this. I've trusted them up to this point, they've really delivered, so many times. But I'm hoping 13 and 14 will explain MHR to us!! She's become weird! I want the HR of episodes 5 - 10 back!
Or bring some end (or satisfactory transitions) to this doomed love of theirs. Maybe it's not love, but there's definitely a bond between the two, and it feels tragic.
The cliffhanger looked good, so I'm hopeful for 13 & 14, so let's see.
I am happy that 12 regained its pace, and not the -end-of-the-world-is-nigh kind of panic I'd expected.

Aaaargh!! There are so many things I had summarised but deleted, I don't want to speculate too much.

Btw, I am Legend may be delayed, just when I (secretly) began looking forward to it.

My sister sent me a really cute book...The Pick of Furry Logic and this one reminds me of me: a beaver sitting upright and asleep I WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE. IF I COULD JUST GET STARTED.

@mookie: Yes!!! A Ruri watcher! I love that drama too, Yutakas character had such a heart wrenching backstory. I really miss Ogata Ken, I'll always remember him fondly being Ruris Dad. There are definitely similarities between Ruri/Ijo Nashi, but I'll keep quiet for now.

I am like the queen of detective story watching. I liked Galileo even though it had the "A-ha" moments where there's the same cutscene of "I've figured out the answer!" Like in Jikou Keisatsu, Odagiri Joes character every week had a special card to give to the criminals: the "I won't tell anyone card".

I liked Gonzo because it has a really great story, and some powerful monologues, overall it just felt very real. You'd even see the detectives/police sign out the guns they used, unlike what I heard with Tokyo Dogs being kind of gun crazy. Let me know if you watch it, I'll watch it again! ;D

@momosan: If you remember in Ijo Nashi : "What are those heavy packages you keep getting?" "Books." Yeaaaahhhh, sure, haha.

@supah: IW has gone from being sulky back to being poker faced. I keep looking at his wrist whenever he shows up! I like seeing things move along but I'm not sure what direction they'll take next week.. hmmm. More angst?

@staples: A funny but kind of lewd jdrama is definitely Kisarazu Cats Eye. You'd watch and episode and it'd be frantic and make no sense, but then it will have a rollback in time and everything falls into place. Tightest writing ever. If you want something on the romantic comedy side, you might like Manhattan Love Story, if I could compare it to anything it's kind of close to Love Shuffle.

I'm really surprised you've lasted this long with PP, given it was a show you weren't too fond of to begin with, and now it's getting quite psychotic, haha! Oh well, don't be complaining to me if you're needing antidepressants because of it, not my fault. Haha!!

@janna
Man! What is he some kind of puppeteer? She's become everything he said she was in his drunken speech. She was doing really well up till this point, now she's a wreck. Still, I'm glad she's together enough to continue making headway with the case - she is 'book-smart' after all . Did you see the end of ep12? (shudder!)

@momosan sama

You mean you've gotten Ep1 of Ghost friends? I sure couldn't. OTOH, I supposed I was ready to let go on Yankee and meganechan had I not read your remarks about it... So, may be I should have stayed with it... Tonight is Ep3! Yey.

Someone above somewhere mentioned Shinzanmono, that one is also starting out ever so slowly. What keeping me stay with it is that the dialogs amongst each characters. The way the lines were delivered creates almost comical ambiance despite the dark subject matter. I've been pleasantly surprised that adaptations of Higashino Shogo's novels are presented in various ways as TV dramas since usually novels read pretty heavy and dark.

@mookie and lb_tmi

I'm savoring every bit of even mini-spoilers posted by u, Thanx! Sending luv.

@ockoala

I'm so looking forward to read your recap on WHIB.reading everyone's ravs/comments got my interest perked up. Have to go to semi-business related lunch and then get ready for tomorrow's classes. After that, I'm going to sit back, relax and see what I've been missing. You are so appreciated!

From the doramas you mentioned:
Tokyo Dogs was hilarious, it was kind of slapstick comedy, with just the right amount of violence. (I'm quite partial to a bit of violence - if it's well done.)

I watched Love Shuffle for the Matsuda Shota - Yuriko pairing but kind of ended up being won over by the Kei and Aeru couple - they were the only 'normal' ones out of the bunch. Overall I found the drama a bit... strange.

PPSpoilers: @Supah: Yes I saw to the end of Ep 12! Intense staring contest begins... now. MHR should have know by now IW is always behind her all the time.

Ok now not spoilers: Yuriko was all types of crazy in Love Shuffle. I kind of wrote off Tokyo Dogs because I heard Oguri Shun was going to talk Engrish when we all know Mizushima Hiro is fluent, therefore I wanted them to swap roles because Hiro kind of gets typecasted.

I hope someone gives a report on Matsuda Shotas (mandarin?) abilities from the upcoming Tsuki no Koibito.... .as the saying goes: if you got it flaunt it. I hope he says more than like.. a sentence.

@ Love Shuffle

I liked it! I thought the premise was unpromising (BF/GF swapping, how lame). But I grew to appreciate its quirky sensibility, aggressive sense of humour and rather risque take on relationships.

@32 celestialorigin

Ghost Friends was a weird one, alright! It was a little like a visual 100 Stories but I do love a good Japanese ghost, so I endured. 8-)

Tokyo Dogs was a hoot. There really wasn't much mangling of English, and although there were plot holes big enough to run a train through, it was fun watching Oguri Shun play upright Mr. Straightman to Mizushima Hiro. His mother calling him while he was in the midst of a fight or stake out was a recurring hoot.

Shinzanmono is one I need subs for - too much dialogue for my little non-Japanese brain to grasp. Yankee-kun, no problem! Shinzanmono - problem! I grasped that the first part of ep 1 about the cat lady, but then...vooop! straight into too complicated territory for me!

PP SPOILER:
She has a serious case of stockholm syndrome, he haunted her for that long she kind of got used to that presence, as soon as he took it away, she was as lost as ... a fish out of water. But as soon as she does something sneaky - (puts on ghostie voice) he's behiiind yoooou!
I think that's just men in general, at first they're the ones doing all the chasing to the point of annoyance, but as soon as you grow attached -- poof! Nowhere to be seen.
Men - never there when you need them, and in yo' face when you don't.

/Over.

Oguri Shun - Engrish? Hmm.. I think he says like a 'yes' or a 'no' in the first episode or so, after that it's strictly Japanese. Hiro spoke English quite often though, like when he tries flirting with Yuriko's character and she blanks him, he shouts ''noooo reaction!''. Watch it for fun - like if you need a good laugh and y'know, eye candy at the same time. Agent So (Shun) is very much his Sano character here (from Hana Kimi) he's that balance between serious and funny and a bit like Yoon Se-joon. Hiro's overpassionate and smexy and Yuriko's cute as ever!

@supah. My dearest Lady
after watching episode 12 I was very sad, the scene that brought me to tears;
*Spoiler* was when after HR confirm that her father had a hand in the murder case, and went back to her parents house, and waited for her Father, the pain and agony that she felt after MST arrive home and the way she address him with such respect inspite of what he have done was to much for me to handle, the reason again is because she is innocent.
MST and In-woo have one thing in common both of them are 'Sociopaths', In-woo has shown that he was not satisfied with bringing MST to justice, he has attempt to destroy what ever sense of love she has for her Father, remember the questions that In-woo ask her concerning her relationship with her father? Specially the question if she ever hated her Father, I still believe that in-woo in his mind when he decided to take revenge upon MST was that of ' Take No Prisoners" so the only logical step is not only to destroy MST but also the People closest to him e.g. Family, friends, associates, etc, after the ending of episode 12 in a true logical sense the writers cannot justified Hye-ry to be pair with In-woo in any romantic manner, and if they do they went contrary to the way the created the In-woo Character in the first place!!!!!

hmmm. . . interesting. I'll definitely look into these

@30 janna
Kisarazu Cats Eye sounds a little like the writing style of Soulmate (korean). I really liked the way soulmate would fiddle with the time in a confusing but interesting way, so I'll look into that one. Lewd, though, hmm? we'll see.

*CU Spoilers*

I just finished CU ep 11. Does anyone else thinks EJ is going nuts? Its not the first time I thought this but that scene with her mom and the spilled tea made me think she might be really losing it due her guilt. EJ is Heathcliff to KH's Catherine. If KH says "I am EJ" I'll know the writer's inspiration.

Also if EJ and KH's brother gets together remember I called it back in ep 6 or 7. I don't see how any of these characters are going to be happy.

@Amg1 -
(PP SPOILERS!!)
Yeah, that was pretty sad. And a shame we're seeing this tender father-daughter bond at such a late stage, when we've discovered his dirty past. I never kind of got the vibe he was evil. Stern, very, but evil? I also feel that whatever happened was an awful accident and then to cover his back he got caught up into a web of lies. Ick. So heartbreaking. Why couldn't he just be plain evil? IW too, I still see that image we saw of him in the flashback as a lost and lonely little orphaned boy (albeit with funky hair and ear piercing?).
The thing with HR, her character traits (aside from being a tad er, mentally challenged) are that she has a big heart and is easily forgiving. But obviously this is too big a blow, she can't be her usual forgiving self now, things have progressed far beyond.
You're right, it makes no sense for them two to be together. He's not stopping his revenge plan, and if he must continue in the dirty way he's going about it, I'm all for him getting his due justice but not the girl. Actually, I'm in two minds about this. The writers have made his character really confusing, especially after 11, and there's still scope for his repentence within the last remaining episodes.

It also begs the question, what would SJ do if he'd been in IW's place? I don't see him involving his enemy's daughter, especially if she had a mindset as pure as HR's, he would've kept it man to man and/or gone through the proper channels.

Let's see what the writers have lined up. Every week's two-episodes have had a theme running through them and hopefully the next two episodes will move on from the punches in the gut that were 11 & 12. We need less emotion and more action now. If the drama does move on in the way I'm expecting it, I'll see the logic and importance behind the last two episodes and that was defining her personal bond with both men; IW and her father. Before she launches into war against them?

Man! Seriously, this drama's too deep and there's a lot of room for discussion, I'll never be able to stop talking about it!
I still can't believe the people behind this complex material are the same people who were behind Shining Inheritance. That drama was ok, nothing memorable and the female lead was quite wishy-washy. Don't kill me SI fans.

OBGYN!
That heartwarming love of a show feels like such a distant memory now. (Sniff!)
I do miss it, but don't know if I'll ever be able to re-watch it, going off the nature of the show.

But Wang and Ahn = <3
Song Joong-ki's busy with upcoming projects, so is Go Joo Won (Lee) -- he'll be in Kim Suro, but what about Wang? Suh Ji Suk - hurry and get yourself in a new drama, snappish!

@45 Supah

Yep...only reason I'm watching OBGYN is because of the local airing. It will be done next week. Don't know what's going to air next.

I must agree with you on Shining Inheritance. I didn't care for that drama. I didn't care for the snippy kid....first time actor. the only person I liked was Bae Soo Bin...and he didn't get the girl! Speaking of which....I must say that the female lead Han Hyo Joo is doing a really good job in Dong Yi. I am enjoying that drama and I don't believe any of the historical dramas should be compared to each other because each one has its own draw as they are different stories. I wasn't sure if I would like it but after following it from the beginning I enjoyed the story.

Now to check on DW.....love that one with the episodes 5 days a week and what a story!!!!

Yeah I saw all the news about the OBGYN males....been waiting for something on Su Ji-suk also. But I got to see him on that other Stars show....he has put on some weight and his smile dimple is deeper! Gotta admit, Supah....that man is a handsome dude!

Well....it's Aloha Friday! Have a great weekend!
