Congratulations soon to be grand dad! Wish there were thousands more with your attitude! It's the finest thing in the world to tell your kids....I love you and to hug and kiss them. I felt really sad a while ago when my youngest sister told me she never got to tell "dad" she loved him when he was in the hospital. I didn't know that. I had assumed it was happening. My heart went out to her.

You know, I think you've sensed it when you've met certain people and you can feel they are uncomfortable with a handshake. I've never hesitated in extending my hand when meeting a client at work, male or female. With a mutual friend, it's a hug.

By the way, did you see OML 14?

I just finished watching episode 14 of OML @ viikii Best episode so far with lots of LOLs and surprises, especially on the last scene. Everybody's jaw dropped, including mine. I also felt a tug in my heart. Can't wait for next week's finale.

The younger one starts learning a second language, the better. Foreign languages have attracted me from childhood. Unfortunately, i couldn't learn well a third language. My high school French is rusty because I haven't had the opportunity to practice it. Now I'm having a hard time learning Korean due to my age and lack of proper instruction.

Do ya think he'll take the next step and really make it come true about his relationship with KH and he likes her?

I've kind of barred myself from watching PP previews - but I couldn't help it yesterday and watched ep11's. It's er, how can I say this... not good but good. SJ and HR may need to split again, not that they were 'together' anyway but they were growing close. But you know what this kind of seperation means, right? That the ending will be all theirs.

I watched OML Ep 14 last night without sub last night and didn't like it that much. BUT then love it after watching the subbed version just then. Yes, it still does not progress on the romance front (come on, we have only two more episodes) but the very fact that GH is finally getting her OWN place just sends all the warm air up my spine. Seeing how happy she was when sorting out the crockery and sleeping with MJ at her left and YE on her right makes me happy too!

But this is MW's episode. Many people have already said how many times they re-watched that last scene. I like the slow build up when half way thru this episode he received the box of YE's stuff from the ultra sound photos to her first 5 years - the years when he was oblivious about this very daughter of his own. Then at the dept store, he moved from extreme angst to humbly begging help, to not care about the world in disclosing YE is his daughter. Choi Siwon is really doing a fantastic job here.

Fully agree with JB who said on the PT extension thread that the drama that needs extension is OML. Maybe, there is no romance after all! Not my ideal scenario but seeing GH happy with MJ and MW adoring YE is perhaps good enough.

After reading some comments at Soompi, it just dawns on me why I love OML. It's not just about putting your brain behind having some fluffy fun - but rather its slow and easy pace is so comforting. I gather CR, CSW and the girl playing YE are all making this very appealing.

about OML 14.... loved the YeEun MW relationship!!! and i really enjoy watching this show! i'm not crazy about it but I love it nevertheless... it has some quite heartugging moments...
My problem with the show, is that for quite a while, now, YeEun had become the highlight for the show, as well as MW's reaction while the romance part has been pretty much put in the backdoor for me... don't get me wrong, I LOVE the YeEun-MW part but I think the show would have been better if they had written or developed the romance part a bit better. this is the drama where i wouldn't mind too much if MW-KH relationship remains as it is at the end, with them staying close friends without crossing the threshold of romance.

and PT, CS, and PP are out !!! yipee! i've already watched PP.. now i'm off to PT and CS!

well, just saying that I loved all dramas today...
and rewatching OML... i dont feel as bad about it.. but still, if they make KH end up with MW, i dont feel like it's too credible. i'm not talking about MW because it's quite obvious the poor guys is jealous (btw, so cool!! "She's my daughter") but about KH because it does not seem that she regards MW in a romantic light at all. she even gives advice to Yoora (which i dislike but hate less now... ) without feeling jealous.
really wonder how the writers are going to play this!

OML......I'm getting the feeling like being thrown in the air and that queasy feeling sets in the tummy when you can't grab on to anything!

I'm not even going to guess about the final episode because there hasn't been any indication from KH about any romantic ties! Except for that one kiss at the refrigerator it's been zilch from MW also. What a crazy drama! They sure got us hooked to the end!

I AM relieved they found a way to toss Yoora out the window....liked the way MW was so pi---d and really jerked his arm to get her hand off him!

and you're right about OML, although I do feel that MW gives more indication of being attracted to KH than the reverse.
I do worry though that there might be conflict between MW and KH if he asks her why she left Ye Eun to YooRa without asking him.

i pity yoora a bit... i mean if yeeun never appeared (NO!!!!) then she most likely would be coupled with MW by now and they probably would both stay shallow and be self-centered and deserve each other.. but too bad for her (but good for us), KH has changed MW for the better!

Seriously do NOT read this if you have any intention of watching PP11.

After watching this, I have a heavy, hurting heart. It felt like a blow to the gut.
I never expected things to turn so heavy in this drama and that we'd get sucked so forcibly into IW's dark, depressing vortex of hurt.

That ill-fated, tragic boy.
Oh! To think how passionately I loved to hate him before this.

If this was the writer's way of writing THE change we'd been expecting, the one that would transform HR's very soul, they did a tremendous job (and the editing, directing, the ACTING!).
I think now, HR's definitely ready to fight IW's corner, once she gets herself together that is.

Now! Before Team IW get happy -- The relationship dynamics that the bulk of this episode pivoted around did not faze me too much, as I'd expected them to cover these issues earlier on. The earlier the better, as then they're out of the way and we can focus on the REAL relationships. If there's anything I've learned from this show is that it's unpredictable, so I shall shut up and just watch its events unfold.
Yes, I still have hope in Se-ri, there are still some threads of hope for them, just as much as there are for In-hye.

But, damn, stupid fool me for committing myself to a show like this. I'm still in shock.

You know what I do? I check out a drama by looking at the first episode and then I go in between and random check....then I go to the end.

One drama I'm stuck on right now is Daring Women....it's a long one but I've been stuck with it from day one! Following it on Viikii.

Also am following Dong Yi....I got caught up from the beginning because of the cast and good acting. I'm not disappointed so far. It's ranked in the 100's from out of over 900 dramas released. It goes up and down...yesterday it was at 164 out of 994.

Of course, Oh My Lady was another one I got caught up in from the beginning but that's because I like Choi Si-won!

Hahaha! Don't worry, I'm not THAT affected by dramas.
The ending of this episode was very unexpectedly tragic that's all, I'm sure tomorrow's episode will feel more stabilising.

Plus this drama's a very mixed bag, if the general theme of a drama is dark you anticipate these things but this drama's just got it all - and thus a shock to the system.
But that's a good thing this drama's so strong, I suppose.
If it was more popular it would make KSY's and PSH's career. They should receive accolades for this.

and yeah, this episode's ending was Dark considering the drama we are talking about... I don't remember all the details of the episode but I feel like the only bright moments was HR acting bright by herself while everybody else was angsty (IW and his guilt, her father and his guilt, her mother, Jenny and jealousy, SJ and conflicting feelings, JS and her pain....) and even the dark mood caught her.
and so right now i'm not sure where you stand...
you used to love to hate IW... does it mean that now you don't like hating him? or you don't hate him anymore?
anyways, HR being lost was heartbreaking for me...

I'll just share one of my IW mystery theories, I thought up quite a few way back when he was still a 'mystery' - one of them was:
IW had eaten the muffins HR had given to him when they were kids, he'd eaten them and grown fond of them so much that he grew fat. Like really obese, so obese that he was bullied by other kids and his youth was ruined so he went to a specialist weight clinic in America and came out a hunk. Returning to Korea hellbent on revenge on the muffin girl. But when he realised she had also been fat he softened up, and began empathising with her situation.

Naah, I never quite believed that theory myself. It was one of many.

And about episode 16's ending scene:

And Jenny will say, “There’s no point – she’s Ma Sang Tae’s daughter – you have to go.” And so he dejectedly follows Jenny to the airport, and is about to enter the security checkpoint when he pauses. And meanwhile Hye Ri is brooding over at Yoon Ah’s, and Yoon Ah tells her that she’s being stupid – they both really loved each other and the case is over with and there is nothing that should get in their way. Her dad’s a crook – too bad. And so Hye Ri run run runs! to the airport and she calls out to him, desperate because she can’t find him. She'd totally ratted out IW ('cos Jenny's cool like that, I like Jenny -- and he'd once called her ''easy'' too!) and the scene cuts across to Yoon-ah's apartment, where she's being arrested too. She was SO on IW's payroll.
We're back at the airport where it's revealed HR had found out everything earlier through Jenny, so this was hers and Jenny's ploy to get IW and Yoon-ah arrested.
And then IW signals out his huge legion of shadow men (who were contracted to follow HR everywhere) out to fight the incoming police team - a huge fight breaks out at the airport departures gate. SJ and IW have a man to man - kapowww! But IW is no match for SJ and all bloodied up he is arrested and taken away.
Upon HR's mad run to the airport she'd lost one of her shoes (as she does) so SJ picks her up (as per ep3) and they get on the lift to get to the car park level where his car's parked (duh!) and in the lift HR sneaks her usual admiring glances at him but this time he doesn't mind and smiles and then tells her - ''you're the only woman who can lift my whole body weight on your back. I thought you were special from the moment I first saw you, and you and Eun-ji are nothing alike, I love you for YOU.'' And then they kiss! A real CLOSED-EYES romantic kiss. The end.

Anyway, the end of that. I really needed to get these gems out before they're forgotten for good.
God knows what direction this drama's REALLY headed.

today's PT rating jumped from 12 smth to 16 smth, and CS was 18 something.
does it make sense that PP is only 9.9?? this shows deserves a lot more attention!
i understand the PT jump in ratings because of the *spoiler*kiss*end spoiler* and not saying that it didn't deserve it. i actually like PT ep today a lot.
But PP deserves a jump too! hope the actors and crew are not too down because of it.

I agree and i know that what i'm asking for is not possible... but i can't help but want that to happen. XD u know, like some people wanting bae soo bin to get han hyo joo in brilliant legacy. impossible but still...a wish that cannot be fulfilled.. but a wish nevertheless.
9.9 is respectable (since there were dramas that i like a lot that got way lower than that... and even RoI got in the 8's) but I feel that it does not reflect the love deserved. that's all.
but yeah, how lovely would it be if all 3 dramas at high ratings. ^^

I think the ratings thing is just the curse of the drama being aired on SBS. No matter how good a show is, if it's on SBS it gets crap ratings. Sod's law.
But who cares - really? Quality drama and good ratings - not synonymous.
But I suppose if it's bad for all the people involved in the drama then yeah, that's sad.

About IW - I think I really empathise with him now, as in my views on his character have changed completely, sheerly because his hurt was so palpable, SO real. KSY too, in fact.
I think the entire last 10-15mins or so were so poetic, every little detail was significant.
Like the ramyun scene,and oh, how they made it so depressing. Like a big weight bearing down on you, and you're left too numb to cry.
But that's the conflict though, he IS cruel, very cruel, but adversely he's only hurting himself so much more. Very painful to watch.
I think what'll be more painful to watch will be his entire story, what exactly happened to him and his family back when he was 13. I'm sure there'll be more flashbacks.

Otherwise my views are still the same on the rest of the characters.

but then, it also got brilliant legacy, and smile, you, and SFFTS but really, among the three, only brilliant legacy was a smash hit... i agree that it lost during many other times for the rating battles.

do you guys think IW knows HR's feelings for him? at moments, it seemed like he was aware of her attachment for him, but i felt too like he knew she was jealous when she went out after the ramyun scene... or maybe he was just tormented by his own feelings... *sigh* this is so complex
and the scene where IW was observing HR going into her car was so painful... and HR needing IW was painful as well...

As much as IW (and we the audience) saw her as this tough, resilient thing as she'd proved over and over again - she STILL went like a lamb to his slaughter.
He's probably just as disappointed at just how ''easily'' she did, because when he saw her defiant he kept on pushing it, and pushing it.
I think it was a disappointment for all of us, as to how pliable she turned out.

Didn't Jenny say Europe? Obv. a lie. I felt like I was begging HR not to cry pathetically in front of J. How humiliating that would've been.

By the ramyun, I meant not the first scene, although that was heavy too, but the one later, when they're alone.
Uh! Tears have been beckoning for a while, now I think I'm finally going to bawl.

Gah! I love that show so much!!! I think the cool thing was, even though every since guy fell for Minam, it was for a completely different reason. It was so sad when Jeremy says "I was okay when you were a guy, I'm okay now that you're a girl, but when you say it's Taekyung. . ." *sob* and then how he says that after he steps off the bus he'll pretend none of it ever happened *bigger sob* so cuute!

I agree that Shinwoo didn't put enough effort into persuing her. He says at one point "we didn't have enough tension" but that wasn't entirely true, it's not tension but she needs to know he exists as a guy. Minam's character is so ridiculously oblivious that his shadow-caring never popped up on her radar. He was way to subtle.

I think TK was my favorite character because the grouchy but grudgingly in love guy is so fun to watch develop. But if I were to ever meet a guy just like him attitude-wise, I'd probably be completely turned off. I mean, he's so "I can never be wrong" and it totally bugs me when guys do that. If he ever turned and said "Staples, I decide the schedule, don't interrupt" I probably would have left *him* at the altar. Except it's JGS, so maybe not . . .

Regardless, did you know JGS isn't a professional singer!!??!! I was looking for more of his stuff, and he only has songs he made for ads. (so now I have a couple of those). He and PSH's rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon" is my absolute favorite of any version of that song--despite their trouble pronouncing r's. (and I've heard 5 renditions so far--including the guy from American Idol just now who totally didn't deserve to be kicked off)

In other news, I posted recaps of Hi My Sweetheart Episode 2 on my blog (it's a taiwanese drama, though, and I'm assuming a lot of people here are more into the korean style--which is definitely more sophisticated.)

If Taiwanese dramas are goofy, and Korean are sophisticated, what are Japanese dramas stereotypically like? I've never watched one. What would you guys recommend?

Hi there!

I guess I might be the only one awake at a decent time zone....pacific time so it's only 7:35 here. Tonight is OBGYN on the local korean station. I've seen it but I'll peek later. I'm waiting for 9:25 p.m. to watch 2 Wives.

You know, Shin Woo was persistent, but it was in a real "dull" way. His timing was always off....it was hilarious the way he was leading her around to different places and eating, etc. then he was ready to reveal himself and TaeKung called Minam on the cell and she went hurrying off. I had to laugh. What killed it for me is how he would beat around the bush. Remember that time where she was hanging on and he stepped up and kissed her forehead? That one surpised even TaeKung and it bothered him....that's why he was so salty later on and didn't know how to deal with his jealousy. Of course, that's when the first kiss came later on. It was cute the way they both got really thrown off by that and I had to assume that TaeKung had never kissed a female before let alone be in love!

I've watched Taiwanese and Japanese dramas also. They are all interesting. It's difficult to get used to the Taiwanese/Chinese dialect...it's really different. I'm used to Japanese and I can understand some of it. I've noticed that any of the dramas have just about the same plot or story line and might even use some of the same scenes.

JGS does sing with a group. I can't remember their name. I don't think he has a great voice....his personality reminds me of a person with lots of ego and he knows how to market himself. He is good looking....but immature for his age. I think Park Shin Hye is more mature and she's younger. She has a much better singing voice also...I know she took voice lessons and is even a very good dancer. I read where JGS's mom wanted him to date PSH.....I don't think they are a good match.

A good japanese drama (one of many) is Kimi Wa Petto that's a drama that JGS will be playing the lead in Korean version. It's a really cute drama.

It's windy tonight....air feels cool which is very nice. I like cool over hot.

I am loving the sun in SF but am paying for it ... so terribly sunburnt! :) And last night and all day today, my body has been aching all over from the bike ride. ARGH! Exercise on holiday is NOT a good idea.

Went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner today. Wow ... they have so many varieties of cheesecake! Also visited Alcatraz. Out of all the times I've been to SF, this is the first time I made it to Alcatraz. What an interesting place ... and to be in the cell blocks is quite an eye opener.

I think I'll take it easy tomorrow and just stick to shopping. I happened to stumble across a shop called William Sonoma today on Union Square and they were advertising that starting on Friday, you can get $100 off Kitchen Aid mixers. That makes it only $199.95 (or something) for a Kitchen Aid mixer. What a bargain! If only the UK used the same wattage as the US, I would definitely pick one up and lug it home. *sigh*

I wonder other bargains I'll stumble across tomorrow.....
