tbh, I think the writer/PD of CU REALLY hate CJM somehow. (i'm this close to come and burn u guys personally in a very hot grill if come CU9 the atrocities towards CJM/KH is still going on!)
Excuse my french
I'm abhorred w/ KH's treatment in the latest eps in Cinderella. There are so many inconsistencies w/ his character that I'm admiring CJM more to deliver in his rare scenes w/ lines. His character has been in limbo and he's C!J!M! damn it! This is his first leading role in an very loudly anticipated drama out of MS! What's wrong w/ u ppl, writer shi and PD shi?!?!?!?!?!?! I think not since LDH's character in EoE, ie the pretty dog-walker have I witness a main character reduced to regressed development for 2 eps now, 4 if I'm not being generous. And this is not an ensemble mega saga like EoE. seriously WTF!!!
It's poor decisions and silly priorities by writer shi all thro ep 8 concerning KH. When we have that wife beating, alcoholic bum whatshisface Jang having a longer, more touching and sensible conversation w/ our Villian Mommy of all ppl, it's disgusting. I love SW, I'm glad her HS is getting great developments, but in the expense of developing big hanging plot btn EJ and KH.. NOPE! And what did that most of ep 7, 8 BadHSUncle arc serve?! It's so predictable, and if writer shi needs to create some bonding time btn EJ/JW y not try them reading cookbooks or how to make the perfect makgulli paste a la those sweet tutoring sessions? (Taec can't be NOT cute in any scene) I'm also not feeling all the yeast development either.
Last 2 eps, we have many loose ends and issues fr the past that beg explanations, the writing has stopped making sense w/ KH:
1. The letter: he mentioned he would be back and take EJ to the moon and stars and beyond. And 8 yrs, he's been back to Korean often he said, but too busy to swing by, or give a call, email or write a line...wtf?!
2. So I buy the misunderstandings in 5, 6 when he's just back and EJ was not giving him the chance to explain himself. We saw his angst and his longing and it's cohesive still...but does it make sense that since he has takeover plans he has to be cruel @8 in their sanctuary, the wine cellar of all places?! Those words r cruel and cutting, while he's at it, y dont we have those whimsical CGs of him hitting EJ w/ all those winepots on the head, PD?!... yes it's more in asking her to forget him, he's not worth all the hate she's infested...but he also said she meant nth to him, he can easily forget. Even if he's lying, those words rang so true to his actions towards her, and if he's intended to lessen her pain, these words r definitely not doing it.
3. Y does he have to cut ties w/ EJ so severely but he remains to have a sizzling rapport w/ HS? he's literally robbing both of them the same makgulli company and harming their SAME daddy. When they made their connection 8 yrs ago, it was mutual, most of it unspoken, but they're soulmates. IT doesnt hurt to gamble on EJ understanding his family ugly mess (She is the expert in that dept) and just let her know and gather forces to fight evil bro. Yes, EJ did not welcome him w/ open arms (who can blame her, and u KH of ALL ppl?!?!) , but as reticent as our EJ has always been, she has said in his face she hates him flirting w/ HS, leading HS on (yet he kept hanging out w/ her), that BIG SPEECH off that pavillon in ep8, she really cant be more clear. She's even warning him she'll personally slice him if he messes w/ her sis(my instinct is telling me she's not joking, combined w/ her suicide w/ mom earlier on + this writer..I'm beyond scared) , and we got a tiny hint of 'huh' fr KH as a response?! What happend in those 8 yrs, dude, what trauma caused this level of dumbness and insensitivity?!?!
DARN, I have serious headpain just typing my word diarrhea.

It appears KH had a full lobotomy whilst he was away for 8 years, plus a personality transplant. Probably went to the same surgeon that operated on:
1. BSB's character in Angel's Temptation.
2. Ji-hwan in WISFC
3. Na In-jung in Bad Love
4. Poor Shin Chae-kyung in about ep. 14 of Goong.
5. Jun-ha in WUAS
6. Who turned Un-nyun in Hye-won in Chuno
7. Everybody in One Fine Day
8. Who turned Deokman into Seondoek in QSD
9. Kim Su-nah's character in WIAN
And the list goes on. I hope PIE's surgery is reversible, and gets reversed fast! Otherwise I fear for your (and possibly Dahee's) sanity. :-P

@ 21 xiahkixiri : so nice to see some love for Vineyard Man. I thought it was great. Both leads were engaging and sweet, and I was completely besotted with Oh Man Suk. Ah.
@lb_tmi : don't let those haters get you down! Turn up your iPod volume and just drown them out.
What is it about meetings that just sucks the life-force out of me? They make me first cranky, then fantasy-violent (images of stabbing my yappy colleagues with a very sharp pencil while screaming JUST SHUT UP!!!! STOP TALKING!!!), then brain-dead.

I'm only responded in OT thread a few times, but this week looks really sunny (as in a lot positive comments). =)
I'm currently trying to keep up with OML and PT. I have some struggles/stresses in life so I'm not quite ready for the melodrama CU yet, but I am following JB & company's recaps. While the light fair rom-com's don't necessarily appeal to the wider audience, it's a good fit for me right now. And can the daughters in OML be any cuter??? I just want to hug her - she's so adorable.
Love reading all the comments.

Good Friday, everyone!
I just finished Shining Inheritance two weeks ago and it just went up to #1 on my all-time favorite kdramas. It was so engaging that I could not stop watching till I was done. The pacing was great and the acting was superb. No dull or slow moments for me.
Still trying to finish TWWSWTM in Drama Fever and all I can say is Bu Ki is the bomb! I want to be her when I grow up (though I'm married and I just turned 32 a few days ago. LOL! ). I would totally watch a spin-off show with Bu Ki as the main lead. Maybe, "The Woman Who Doesn't Want to Marry" with her being single and fabulous but finds real love anyway? I would totally watch that!

hello all!!
and Much Love to PP lovers..
argghh...I'm really dying right now to wait the arrival of Wednesday..
really really wanna know what's the real deal about In Woo.
*SPOILER*
the last scene of ep 8 where Hye Ri confronted In Woo, I want to know what's his answer...did HR caught him off guard or did he prepared for this thing to happen because all this while he has had some 'powers' to predict what's gonna happen.
and and, the KISS scene.................the smirk!!!!!!!!!!! I rewatched the scene for countless time. Plus, when In Woo in the elevator at the morning, with black shades on...... that's SO HOT! If i was Hye Ri i would totally grab his nape and K.I.S.S him.
Park Shi Hoo is the epitome of smexiness.
ep 7 and 8 totally showed a lot of cutesy, adorable moment between HR and IW.
They were making food together, they drank together, the jokes that IW put on HR, they KISSED, HE piggyback-ing HER, they shopped together, eat ramen in one bowl, SHE gave him a ride plus many more..Now, beat that Pro. Yoon!!
The chemistry between KSY and PSH really sparkled in every scene they're together. My heart fluttered in every scene they were in.
*ENDS*
On the minus side, I have four upcoming paper for my final exam this coming week..*SIGH*

Is there going to be a barbecue party? I'm on! LOL!
Anyhow, I realized those main characters in CU, mainly KH, YJ, HS and MOM, they all are living without so many essential feelings like: knowing you are loved, feeling safe and secure, knowing it's OK to express your self, OK to speak out, safe to to trust, it's safe to love, can love without being abandoned(threatened), this lists goes on. After watching those two episodes, I had to get back to preparing for the up coming seminar which is all about those emotions and living without anger, fear, resentments, grudges, etc., but with love, confidence, place to be, forgiveness, compassion, self assertiveness, your own voice, self expressions, feeling connected, feeling loved and appreciated, well, the list goes on and I was like.... no wonder everybody's suffering...
But, Hey, it's a K drama. we do needed those dramas to be K-drama?

Ugh, one more week left and then I have practically a four month long break. Headin' out to the gym now so I can get back and put together the finishin of the slide show, get ready, and rush to SF for the last 2nd year thesis presentation I've been working on, following the final after party. That'll just leave recoverin' from that to go to the bon fire on Saturday and some other party-thing along with writing and packing. Leaves Sunday for writing and packing. Then the rest is homework and a little bit of baking. Next Saturday start the drive back to Texas from California and I can't wait for the breather!

well, i have this feeling that the writers will keep IW mystery a bit longer, just to make us suffer from frustration. lol.
and yeah, I agree, the shades were absolute killer in the elevator!!! PSH is HOT. Period. at least as stalker, um, i mean lawyer seo. Prosecutor Yoon is no competition.
and I totally forgot.. the piggybacking!!! that was IT! can it get any sweeter between IW and HR?

i agree that KH's storyline has a lot of holes in it. i think it has a lot to do with how his mom died. And i also don't understand why he has to cut ties so severely with EJ when he's still hanging out with HS!! Gahh. As much as I think JW is cute, I'm still very much an EJ/KH shipper. KH has nv really opened up to anyone and he really should try with EJ. I'm gettin tired of seeing him letting HS stop him everytime he wants to chase after EJ and again, I wish he hadn't cut his ties so severely with EJ. She might be cold, but can he really blame her? She's right, he just left. I hope the writers put a bit more into KH's character soon.

Hero (MBC 2009), starring Junki!!! and Yoon So-yi.
Since I did a Jang Hyuk marathon a few weeks ago, it stands to reason I'd follow it up with another marathon (I'm so predictable this way), this time a mini-taste of Lee Junki's modern dramas. Anyone curious about Time between Dog and Wolf, check out my review for Thundie (no spoilers - and I'm not selling my review, I am trying selling this gem of a hidden drama, it's really addictive, be prepared).
http://thundie.wordpress.com/2010/04/18/time-between-dog-and-wolf/
Sorry to detour, back to the review of the drama I just watched for the first time, Junki's latest drama Hero. It was a ratings bomb, is rarely talkabout (either to say it sucks or to say it rocks - silence is a deadly disease for a drama), and has faded away into obscurity.
It's a shame really, but at the end of the day, Hero does not merit longevity. Hero is a jdorama stuck in a k-drama's body, and that makes it both mediocre (the worse of each genre) and suffers from an identity crisis. It's neither here nor there, so it doesn't engage you from either an emotional or clinical perspective. The directing is a notch lower than mediocre (I'm talking text book scene framing and editing 101, the results are boring and flat visuals).
The script is curiously a multi-headed hydra that lacks an emphasis on any one head to actually reach any of its goals, it just sort stretches its hands out really hard but is about a good arms length away from success.
Verdict: Only for die-hard Junki fans only. I could at least play a drinking game with Iljimae (not that I did, mind you, but only that I should have - drink each time Park Shi-hoo takes of his clothes (chug), drink each time you forget Han Hyo-joo is actually in a scene (chug), etc).
But Hero's deathknell is that it's story is really boring, the big conspiracy/political corruption plot was written by a 6th grader, so it has no tension or suspense. Worse, the Big Bad is neither scary nor bad (god, someone page Kim Gab-soo or Choi Il-hwa, asap), and there is never any doubt from ep. 1 that all will end well. That's to be expected in most kdramas, except the journey of Hero lacks focus, direction or emotional depth, so ultimately it fails to make you care as the story unfolds and reachs it conclusion.
Junki was wonderful in this role, though, probably his most mature, controlled and fluid performance in all his dramas (still not my fave, my Junki needs to go slightly OTT sometimes so I can swoon over his angtsiness). Pretty much all the actors in Hero was very good, actually, too bad no one had a better script or PD to work with.
My biggest takeaway from Hero was Yoon So-yi - as a pinch-hitter, nay, taking her performance at face value, she was very very good. I liked her role and her chemistry with Junki. Never had any inclincation to watch her dramas, I've now changed my mind. Goodbye Solo, you're on my list! (for YSY + PIE!!).

okay Supah!
Here's what I think......PP episode 8 not revealing a whole lot....but I have a feeling that Seo In-woo is not a bad guy......he's defense lawyer for that guy that Prosecutor Yoon has been trying to put behind bars. Seo In-woo is going for the big cheese or the big rat....there's something going on that's connected to Ma Hye-ri and it just might be her father. Also....it's interesting how In-woo keeps wanting to toss Ma to Yoon..... Her asking In-woo who are you? Won't get an answer... he's a mighty smart and sharp person. I'm still trying to figure out his character.....he still seems to be more of an investigator or undercover something and if dramas go the way this might go.....he might be working for some agency based in the United States. Enough has been said about him returning to Korea and passing the bar, etc.....like using that to side track what he's being paid to do.
What do you think?

@twin, O M GEEEE!!! lets have a group OT watch of Goodbye Solo!! *happy dance*
Thanks for the marvelous review on Hero (and TBDAW). I mean how awesomesauce r u to reign in your fangirl self and give us this honest objective gems? I did try out an ep of Hero, and it's totally fitting a sq (Jdorama) in a circle (kdrama) feel, and I think it's the worst kind of meh for us w/ our healthy doses of j and k drama in our blood.
My earlier post was very grouchy, lousy hectic Fri am + lack of caffeine will do that. And l should not stink up the fun @ OT! :) mianehhhh
'It appears KH had a full lobotomy whilst he was away for 8 years, plus a personality transplant. Probably went to the same surgeon that operated on' *sob* nodding but *sob*
@70 Ri
'As much as I think JW is cute, I’m still very much an EJ/KH shipper.'
I'm still an EJ/KH shipper as well because of their insane amt of chemistry may it be angst, hate, lovemaking /w eyes, madness, hurt, longing, cutting each other... it's 100% love (ok atm hate, but we know it's transient RIGHT, WRITERSHI!?!! *lighting matches to grill*) Whereas EJ/JW's chemistry is totally noona/cutewoofiedongseng. Maybe she's just transitioning to seeing him as a grown up signified by that dancing scene, but knowing our EJ, those raw sores she's still bearing nowhere near stop bleeding, it's not possible she's opened up her heart for anything romantic, it's just a very easy, comfy camaraderie she's sharing w/ JW, loosened up to smile for nth and be a normal breathing girl, and nostalgia of a simplier life back then in hindsight.
let me rescind a bit fr my angry post ... I still think the cast is doing the finest acting of the dramas on air right now ( I may have not been following enough eps of the rest but I have even more ugly ramblings on them...I digress) And I wished some of u witty OTers can give me a better comprehensive take on KH.
I want to send these sappy inspirational life morsels to our poorpoor EJ (and KH). I admire and love EJ to pieces. I have a mental visual of her dragging invisible boulders chained bloodied to her skinny shoulders ( @twin that hot YK scene in LOCH) burdening her mom, KH, guilt towards DS/HS and now everyday they r still throwing pebbles at her... yet no whining, not even much tears, she trotted on w/ life, she still can do her death rays and hurl out honest speeches (KH, honey I love u (ok I <333 CJM way more) but learn sthsth fr your dongseng now will u?!)
I'm just cutting and pasting these quotes fr ppl's tweets that I love, very sappy and cheese! *I <3 cheese!* TGIF!

I think what made me really like this drama, other than YEH, was the fact that I could totally relate to how she reacts on the Vineyard when she first comes. I'm a total City Girl and, perhaps not as superficial as she and a little more pragmatic, but I felt her pain, every step of the way I felt her pain.

AHHH, tha international cut trailer of Rain of Swords (renamed Reign of Assasins), was leaked in China two days ago!
JWoo is either pissed or this is brilliant marketing. See my I Lub You in his noona-love looking adorakable and peasanty (as opposed to Musa-esque or with his Restless Mane of Glory). As for the trailier itself, very meh, trailiers for 14 Blades, True Legend, and Bodyguards and Assasins were all way way better. The assasin retiring scene seemed very Pekinpah and so out of place. Oh well, more I Lub You for me!

Hey y'all, late to the OT party today...I'm a little under the weather at the moment but enjoying all the comments and hoping to get caught up on everything soon. One good thing about falling 3-4 eps behind everyone is that you don't have to wait for subs, and I don't mind being spoiled on any of the ones I'm watching currently.
@ mookie Watching CU would not be the same without you. :-D
@ ockoala I felt a little guilty for not joining Team Underdog since you love Jun-ki so much, but I think your review was probably the best thing about Hero, so I'm glad it turned out this way.
Okay, back to my sickbed I go...hope everyone has a great weekend!

@ langdon-unni
Et, tu? (sorry, you don't look like Brute). :-P Hope its a quickie and you're all better by tomorrow.
Don't feel even the tiniest amount of guilt for not joining Team Underdog. I wished Hero turned out to be a Tamra (low-ratings, hidden gem), but alas, it was more of a Dream (low ratings, kinda resembled a rock, watchable only for Bummie or Junki, respectively, love).
See, hypothetically, if Lee Min-ki decided to star in a remake of Summer Scent, called Summer's Moistness, with Park Han-byul, I must beg your forgiveness here in stating that I ain't boarding that ship.
Actually, I came back to kvetch about the renamed English title of Jianyu Jianhu - first off, I immediately flashed to seeing visions of Dragons roaming the skies of Great Britain and a bald Matthew McCounaghy hamming it up for the ages. No good movie has ever come out with the word Reign in its title. Rain of Swords was awesome, the imagery of a band of assasins fighting, the swords raining down on Wulin. And John Woo had to go and fork it by giving it a dud generic not to mention conjures up Rain's Ninja Assasin vibes.
Yeah, way to go from cool to ugh with a simple name change, John Woo.

Adorable. Maybe I should go and get another screencap for the part where they briefly lock eyes as they smile those heartbreakingly shy smiles - this has to be amongst my top 10 fave scenes from the drama - even if it was only a figment of Hye-ri's daydreaming, hahaha!
I don't care if people say my Yoonie's 'wooden' in PP, I don't care if people say my Yoonie's 'stiff' in PP because wooden + stiff = big, protective tree.
Yes, that's how Hye-ri sees him, chyaahahah! Loves it!
But...
The KISS, ohmygoodness! I'm not even on In-woo's side but even I had to re-watch that scene a dozen times. That was delish!
He is off the scales sexy! And their rivalry is hella fun to watch!
I'm aware I'm outnumbered taking Yoon's side, everyone else is shipping In-woo. I say bring it on girlies, let those fists fly. *tries replicating Yoon's flying kick & mighty slam combo - but fails*

@eiko
I say nice trying chick, there are countless theories but each new episode throws us off course again. In episode 8, I felt he'd stabbed her in the back and he's also quite patronising.
The first time he's meant to have met her was at the ski resort hotel in ep.1, and she had the crazy curly hair then, but he's been following her for a way longer time going off those photos of her. That may also imply that he's not been in US at all those past years.
I do have some really crazy theories, and lest we forget they're also childhood sweethearts (we've only seen a brief snippet there, there may be more to their story), except I don't think she remembers him, at least not in the way he does.
There was even the possibility that Yoon and In-woo were both in love with Hye-ri's lookalike - Yoon's late wife and that In-woo's hitting back at Yoon by trying to win the girl over this time. But then that probably cancels out the childhood story. And then lets not forget Hye-ri's not always looked like the beautiful Kim! Seo! Yeon! She's spent a huge portion of her life 'clinically obese'.
Besides, even if say In-woo is a nice guy with noble intentions underneath, we can't ignore how he lies, is manipulative, and in episode 5 when we finally got to see him without his nice guy mask, his suddenly angsty character made me feel very uneasy. Not to mention straight after the kiss, the utter look of contempt he wears as his gaze rests where Yoon had previously been standing. *shudder*
So what I mean to say is, we can try guessing all we want, but the In-woo mystery has only been revealed to us as small, sparse, unconnected dots thus far. The writers obviously don't want everything revealed yet, so I'll rather stop driving myself potty over it and give up on all those batshit insane theories I've been imagining up and just enjoy the drama, lets see where it leads us.
But if you're feeling passionate enough to come up with some theories of your own, feel free to, just don't say I didn't warn ya! Haha!

@ockoala
Thanks for the Hero summary. I'm quite gutted at the outcome, I was expecting it to be one of those ''one man's triumphs'' sorta underrated, hidden treasures (the types I gravitate towards).
A good friend of mine used to harp on about TBDAW, and how much she loves it.
Going Solo! That's the one with KNG in it! Yay! KNG and CMG in the same drama, ofc. it shouldn't be missed. YSY is very pretty, she looks quite similar to KSY with her gorgeous facial structure.
Darn my burgeoning kdrama watch list.

@7 Lizzie:
Good to know you're going to London and Paris soon.
I've not much to share - just a bit of my experience there. I stayed at a Youth Hostel called St. Christopher's Inn and they had this free walking tour around Paris. Very good I must say. Cuz the guide's been living in Paris long enough to tell you all the insider stories about Paris and stuffs - what's the story behind the laughing carvings at the Seine River etc.
They also have a night skating tour of Montmarte - and pub hopping. Great to meet new people I guess :-)
Also, try Laduree's Macaroons - havent' tried them yet but heard they are superb!
Um, what else. Do all the other touristy things like Eiffel Tower etc.
Have fun!

I hears ya gal....I hears ya! I'm laughing cuz I can imagine where it just might end up which is hardly near where any of us dared to trek! hehehehehe.....a real twist er rooney
It did occur to me that there was a connection between Ma and In-woo before...but not sure about that.
By the way...someone raised the question before....who the heck is the lead actor in this one? I'm really not sure.
Also...I am having a great time with Daring Women.....man oh man is it moving along and viikii subs are working fast to get the english subtitles posted. Episode 37 came out yesterday and this morning they had posted eng subtitles all ready!!! There's a new episode every day.
I gotta get my butt moving here....my grand daughter called and bringing some groceries and "bento" for dinner! YUMMMMM!!!!!
Hey girl....I'll treat you to lunch if In-woo turns out to be a villain! I wouldn't mind seeing Yoon get Ma....really!
Happy weekend!!!!

Additional note.....actually seeing a Yoon and Ma kiss would really be nice too!!!
Oh yes....today's OBGYN......where Seo cries to Lee after he fixes pasta for her mom. About being afraid and then wanting to abort the baby. Then, of course, the fun scene afterwards when he falls asleep and she's holding him and Wang and Ahn and the other doctor come driving in. I was laughing cause they sure were having a good time teasing Seo and then the next morning Lee got it! Wang was poker faced the whole time.....he didn't think it was funny!

[for the HS and JW fans: sorrrryy]
prologue:
KH + EJ went to Japan on biz. HS stayed to work on a Hello Kitty limited edition of DS makgulli. JW is ordered to cook up dishes that go great w/ makgulli (JW: salute!) HS+JW is planning on the am ajumma shows circuit to promo 20000000 ways to drink makgulli.
Daddy still needs surgery, EJ gets the phone call and dashes into KH's room in nightgown (kekeke)
(MGY and CJM can have exact same expression and convo...)
KH: EunJoo-ya...EunJoo-ya, r u listening?
EJ: What if mom and I r really a curse to the family?
KH: *hot angst stare full beam* look at me, EJ-ya, I'm hot before, but THIS (gesturing his hot angsty puppy eyes)... it's all because of u, how can u be curse?!
EJ (dares herself a glance... immediately needs to koala hug KH's long leg)

Lawyer In Woo from the beginning has been manipulating Hye Ri, and even tough this is a Drama I will not approve of any man behaving the way he does, and quite frankly me being Guy find its behavior quite unnerving because shows sings of a "psychopathic personality", we know that there is a reason behind what he is doing, so I cannot see him as a " Charming Knight in White Armor", I feel that I do not need to point out how many times he has cross the line between being persistent and being a real stalker, I know a lot of you Lady's may find it amusing, but I find it extremely disturbing.
On the other hand I find Hye Ri relationship with Prosecutor Se Joon a more believable and organic interaction, Se Joon in the first episode when he was tackled by Hye Ri he was really shocked when he saw her later we find out that the reason was because she looks just like the dead ex-wife, I believe that he really likes her, but he is afraid of the past as he told her in Epi 8 when he gave her a ride, and as Hye Ri is concern she fell for him from the moment he save her from the gambling thugs, I do not think that Prosecutor Se Joon is trying to hurt her by being cold and uncaring, he has already fallen for her and is afraid of hurting her and the other people in his life e.g. daughter and the other Prosecutor lady.
I am in team Se Joon/Hye Ri 100% PP Fighting!! : )
