If you're only at episode 8 of OBGYN you will have some fun time coming up! Pay attention to all the dialogue! I have to go back and re-view scenes because it's really rough reading english subs and watching expressions....also have to listen to the way dialogue is being expressed....you know voice. :-) I was getting ahead of myself in watching RAW versions of several dramas and it's not a good thing because guessing doesn't work! So now I just hang in there and wait for english subs to come out.
Live and learn and there's something new every single day!

I'm getting such a kick out of AMCG. It has a lot of humor in it. Most of it I really think is intentional. LOL on the horseriding facility. Also the badguys house! How many dramas has that house been in? I can think of at least 4. I'm starting to think that all the rich people in Korea live together in the same house. :)
I am just grateful that there is a fansubbing group taking on this drama. Having been so spoiled the last couple of years by Viikii I had forgotten how hard it is to wait for subs.

langdon and momosan are watching OML - see above when they discuss their ICOMYM Cabana Boy and his new drama. That's Choi Si-won. :-)
Btw, ICOMYM members - is Im Joo-hwan in the club? He is Kim Bum's older brother, but age-wise may make it less inappropriate than we normally like to skirt on the edge of prorpriety. Gah, I know he's so gonna kill it in What's Up?
Seeing the promos for CU makes me miss Beo-jin and Park Kyu. But the CU promos are causing me to literally be like Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween when you know MM is lurking and waiting to pounce - in that every pore of mine is screaming from seeing the posters, the pictures, that MV - CU is like a young adult version of StH and probably contains no unintentional hilarity without the presence of "my eyes" KTH and "my lips" KSW and "take my eyes" second lead oppa since pretty much everyone in CU can act and act well. I don't know if I'm up for that type of melodramatic tropes with these bunch of wonderful actors.

I can't believe you knew/know Yul. He is such a hottie. I was totally fangirling him the entire time watching cook island much to my husband's mild disgust. The good thing about survivor is if there is someone you really like they are half naked throughout so the entire show is a fanservice. You just can't buy that kind of entertainment unless its a quarter at a time around Times square. My guess considering they got someone like Candace is I don't think Yul wanted to come back. I wouldn't either frankly besides my parents would so embaressed they would disown me.
The big reason why this season is so much fun for me is Coach, Boston Rob and Russell. The interactions between these three beats anything currently on TV or internet. Coach has got to be the most bazaar, ridiculous and entertaining reality star. As George once said on Seinfeld "It isn't a lie if you believe in it". Also if you are into rubber necking watching the Heroes self combust is entertainment in itself.
@ momosan
I think I would die if "Almost Paradise" played on my phone while I'm in a meeting but it is a cute little prank that I wouldn't mind playing on hubby. The IRIS love theme annoys him but I'm going to wait for something as truly awful as "Almost Paradise" to play that prank. I consider annoying him my right as his wife.
BOF is over the top but I would have hated it if I was watching it as it aired. YB was great to watch with everyone because I really enjoyed the acting, story and zany humor but BOF is more in the its-so-terrible-its-good category and I would have given up on it after two episodes. There is something to be said about going in with super low expectations once something already aired that makes the viewing experience not as terrible and distant.
Regarding EotS boy I was never so happy to see the hero die at the end. I wish we could have a lot of our leads expire in similar fashion when they get annoying.

I think I need to watch something more substantial after all the cotton candy of BOF. Should I watch Chuno, Story of a Man or Shin Don? These have been on my watch list and two of them are already on Dramafever. The only thing scaring me a bit about Shin Don is its so long and its a big time commitment.

He's a 1982. I do want him in the club cuz more Park Kyu in anything is always more opportunity to savor his presence. If stupid hubby thinks I <3 Korean beefcake then I'm going to go all out and plaster their pictures all over my house.
@ nycgrl
I still know Yul. He was a year ahead of me in college, and he was as a college student the same Yul you all saw on TV - hot, smart, collected, just a decent human being blessed with so many good traits. I have plenty of Yul stories. He's also friends with my hubby, both are somewhat active in the Asian/legal community.
Now you totally got me curious about H v. V, I hate Boston Rob but man sure can make TV reality interesting. And self-combusting Heroes, oh that even better!
Btw, I totally concur - annoying heroes should always be killed off. When they offed SSH in EoE I was clapping and laughing at the halo going to heaven special effects.
Who else did I want to die but sadly survived? I can only think of BYJ in Winter Sonata right now.

How can I forget - I wanted the three surviving leads of Bad Love to die (preferably painful deaths) and resurrect my Kim Seung-soo oppa who was all kinds of hot and bothered and appeared to have wandered into the wrong show (i.e. he was too calm for all. that. hysteria.).
And the one hero who annoyed me from beginning to end but didn't die, and I actually think death would have been his release, so I was happy to see him suffer some more being alive and playing a white piano on the beach - Kwon Sang-woo in StH.
But I pay mad respect to those who died epically for the sake of drama tears and story. Chuno - I'm looking at you on Thursday......
@ nycgrl, since you love Resurrection/The Devil, perhaps SoaM? langdon loved it, it's still on my to-watch list. I'm a chicken when it comes to thrillers.

I full on support you monopolizing Friday OT with a blo-by-blo of the Baeksang. I re-read OT 115 and man that one I need to print out and save for posterity.
I'll delurk ONLY if JH loses the Baeksang and LBH gets trotted out for a "thanks for coming back to the small screen super movie star here's the promised hardware" award.
I LOVE LBH, but this is JH's award, I don't even had a doubt in my mind. The other three guys are just there to be nominated.

I think its a toss btw IRIS-QSD, when did PD Kwak become a Newcomer Producer? (scratches ma head), I would LOVE to see Seo Woo win (but my feeling its LMJ as the High Kick ladies cancel each other out), GHJ just needs to show up as Mishil, and even I think Chuno better NOT win for best screenplay (wow, that would be like affirming UN's character and arc for 13 episodes I'd rather forget her presence in).

In my opinion, the best person to give JH a run for his money to win the Baeksang would be Hyun Bin in Friend, Our Legend. And he wasn't even nominated, which is absolutely un-freaking-believable. I love LBH too, and I think he was great in IRIS, but Hyun Bin was brilliant. Every bit as much as JH in Chuno, if not more so.

Yeah, Bidam must be like, I want to eat a raw chicken now and scare these other kids nominated with me pantsless.
If the category was Best Breakthrough Performance, then heck yeah. But unless Newcomer has a different definition in Korean than in English (or a loooooose category border), then KNG's inclusion makes me roll my eyes.
Same with PD Kwak - so if no one watched CitC when it aired, then it doesn't exist? Like really. My gut feeling - CitC will age better than Chuno, by a long shot. Half the fun of Chuno is the communal watch experience.
@ langdon-unni. Friends, The Legend sits on my shelf and mocks me. See, your convo with samsooki shouldn't have happened in OT. When I hear the words Episode 19 and Binnie in one sentence, I get chills down my spine. I may need handholding to watch it.....
I can't agree or disagree with your assessment of Binnie as the other deserving nominee since I didn't watch, but on gut instinct and know you and samsooki's assessment criteria, I have to throw my faith behind that statement. Binnie wuz robbed!

"Coach needs to meet with a fatal island incident. Like NOW."
NOoooo! And deprive me of all my entertainment! I hope he sticks around long enough to spin an even crazier tale like how he is a descendant of Mulan and almost got eaten by pygmy penguins while kayaking 10,000 miles in the antarctic. He got some Steven Segal thing going on and an earnestness about himself that is truly funny. You can't manufacture this kind of weirdness.
@Ockoala
If Yul is what you say and didn't just get a good edit from the Survivor team his wife is sure damn lucky. The biggest turn on has to be a smart guy who so happens to be in a tall studly package. How many times do we meet studly guys only to find nothing much going on behind the facade. Boston Rob is a lot less dislikable this time around and I have to say he is the only one I'm cheering for. I think he is either getting a good edit or fatherhood has softened him up.
Speaking of death on kdrama leads, I wanted everyone to die in Autumn Tales. It was the only way to appease the drama gods after forcing this bland mess on people. I can get on board with something like BOF and Stairways to Heaven because they are unintentionally funny and way over the top to be taken too seriously but Autumn Tales had really no redeeming qualities including the blandest of the bland acting.
I was thinking I'll go with SoaM as well so I can force Langdon to discuss it with me. But now I'm tempted to watch bits of EoE for the SHS halo and the random LDH walking the dog scenes. I feel like I have ADD sometimes. Easily sidetracked and allured by whatever shiny weird thing comes my way.

I have a special place in my heart for AIMH, but happily admit it's really a piece of crap. But Won Bin! And SSH! Those cheekbones in one drama is worth something.
here's a YT vid of EoE, pay attention to the last 10 second, seriously, just godawful. If they hadn't switched up the OTP and SSH-LDH was a couple, perhaps it would have been palatable somewhat. But SSH + LYH was just the dumbest thing since the slap-chop.

I think LBH is going to take it. Not only did he do a pretty good job (not brilliant) but he is a BIG time movie star and they would hardly diss him when SSH and his wooden acting got it for EoE but I do hope the most deserving person wins.

OMG! If SSG had won Best Actor at the Baeksang I would go snarf a cat (how can I love one man's face so much knowing what a terrible actor he is, lord knows). SSH shared (snicker) the Daesang award with Kim Myung Min at the MBC year end drama awards last year. But KMM won the Best Actor award at the Baeksang all bys hisself for Beethovan Virus, prob. bc he didn't need to air play any instruments as the conductor, since he was air conducting the entire time. :-P
I agree - I'm steeling myself for LBH to win for IRIS.
Oh yeah, Yul, nope, that wasn't clever editing, he really is one smart dude, and one decent dude. He organized a bone marrow transplant in college for his BFF who got leukemia, and whose younger sister was my classmate, and we all got matched (not a lot of Asians in the marrow registry). He found a match, but unfortunately it didn't take and my friend's brother (Yul's BFF) died later that summer. It was totally heartbreaking, but Yul was just a devoted friend to the very end.

Coach is in total need of psychiatric help but he is sure amusing and even funnier because he doesn't know it. I'm going to hold you to your word about SoaM. I'm always rearing to discuss something after I'm done but I'm always watching things two steps behind everyone.
@Mookie
I missed the part of your husband needing surgery. Sorry to hear that and hope he makes a speedy recovery. I used to be a serious Mt Biker and I got hurt a lot (fell down the Mt once when I missed jumping a bend on a single track) but thankfully no broken bones but enough scars to leave lasting memories. Hubby wants me to go with him because we want to do Moab one day and I need the practice but I'm not in my 20s anymore so I'm not sure I can take the falls like I used to.
Agreed never drooled after anyone on survivor until Yul came on I was all like "G-Damn!" when I saw him and Brad on Survivor. The funny thing is you look at asian kids in their 20s and teens and they are all tall and built now. They keep getting taller with every generation.

Chuno ending - I waver between wanting something meaningful, heartbreaking, mesmerizing (a la Hong Gil Dong) or between wanting something kickass and like DG fights 100 men circa Bidam did in QSD.
Anyways, so glad to hear hubs is on the mend AND it was not terribly serious. Mine needed two surgeries in one year for the exact same injury. He tore his achilles playing BBall (a thirty-some guy playing as if he was twenties, not a good idea), and then tore the same heel 2 weeks prior to full recovery when he literally tripped at work and stuck out that heel (he says it was human instinct, I told him to go break his head instead) and it went RIIIIPPP. Argh, I was so pissed, bc I was hormonal (8 months pregnant, carrying a 15 month old in one arm, and packing up to move with my other free hand). Good times, good times. if I can stand upright it's a good day!

This Mishil's eyebrows should win the Daesang!
Best drama - based on what was NOMINATED - it has to be between IRIS/QSD. Even I'm not deluded enough to think Chuno could or should deserve to win (plot is up and down and we don't even know how it will end - i.e. epic or epically lame).
And Brilliant Legacy or QoH - ha ha ha ha ha, not even going there - just once more for old-times sake: Jun-se oppa!!
Btw, twin, I'm totally on an adrenaline high for the last two days (barring my 12 hr roundtrip to Bay Area and back) caused by re-watching Chinese Odyssey 2002 (and making hubby watch it with me) and feeling so wonderful and happy afterwards. The feelings are still here. Best. Lunar. New. Year. HK. Movie. Ever! And to now know it was a Wong Kar-wei produced movie only makes me nod by head and go - ahhh, I see. This is how WKW would do mainstream slapstick.

On EofE. I was so addicted to that show for like the first 20 ep. then it just all went down hill from there. The ending also made absolutely no sense to me. One of those shows that falls in my category of "I want my 30 hours back."

Ahh... I will just do another ICOMYM on Kame.

I really like Down with Love, and that being one who was never a fan of either Ella or Jerry. Although, if you catch Jerry at the right angle he could be an eye candy. Anyhow, I was quite doubtful if I would like this show but so far I am really enjoying it and there were so really laugh out loud moments in this show.
It sounds like quite a few people has stopped watching PS. Man. I just watched ep. 4 today, and while I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous ep. but I still like it enough to go on with it. There are quite a few Taiwanese drama I just can't stomach the acting, but strangely I am fine with this one.

If he was up against a lesser God than Tony Leung, he would have stolen the show in Chinese Odyssey 2002 in a heartbeat, but lucky for us Tony was firing on all cylinders as Bully the Kid, so we got two stupendous performances. And I actually loved Vicky Zhao Wei just a teeeeensy bit more than Faye, but it's a tomato tomahto thing, love them both! Hubby kept screaming "Twelfth Night, it's a Chinese Twelfth Night, and OMG it's so funny!"
If a trifle like CO 2002 was made to perfection, am I forgiven for thinking that it deserved its win over Infernal Affairs for the HK 2002 Critics Choice Awards. IF was my fave movie in HK in the aughts, but darn it, CO 2002 made me the happiest. See, I'm still giggling 5 days later. :-) The power of love, and a little help from a bunny.
Chuno - heh heh, hang in there, ending this week - either a giant Oh No rings out over dramaverse or a giant WTF! Or PD Kwak drank some happy juice and smoked a joint this week and decided that DG-TH can each have UN/HY on alternating days, with DG getting Sunday cuz he suffered more. :-P

Alas, Poor Bidam!!! ::sniff:: now I'm back at it again. Honestly, saguek fanatic that I am, KNG was the only reason I watched the second half of that series. Truly.
My bets -
Best TV Drama
IRIS (KBS2) - will win
Best Producer
Hong Sung-Chang (You Are Beautiful, SBS) - should win - did the most with the least on the list
Kim Gyu-Tae, Yang Yoon-Ho (IRIS, KBS2) - will win - but honestly - easy layup shot there.
Best New Producter
Kwak Jung-Hwan (The Slave Hunters, KBS2) - WTH? new? - should win/will win - give the man SOMETHING
Best Actor
Lee Byung-Hun (IRIS, KBS2) - will win
Jang Hyuk (The Slave Hunters, KBS2) - should win and they will hear me shouting clear over to Mass Ave if he doesn't.
Best Actress
Go Hyun-Jung (Queen Seon-Deok, MBC) - should win/will win
Best New Actor
Kim Nam-Gil (Queen SeonDeok, MBC) - WTH? - should win
- who will win? is up in the air.....
Best New Actress
Seo Woo (Tamra, The Island, MBC) - should win
Shin Se-Kyung (High Kick 2, MBC) - will win
Best Screenplay
Park Ji-Eun (My Wife Is A Superwoman, MBC) - should win
Kim Young-Hyun, Park Sang-Yeon (Queen SeonDeok, MBC) - will win

OH, thanks. Then, where can you watch it, please? or does it have another name on Viikii or on any other site?
Slept from 3am to 3pm today... I'd better get back to this time zone quickly. My meeting with my CPA is coming up just in a week and I'm not ready with all the data yet as well. So much catch up to do...
So, then, would any of you recommend some K dramas to watch for me again please? Since I can commit possibly to 2-3?(being optimistic)K dramas at a time, I figured I'd better ask here. Your recommendation of WUAS and WWSWM were so right on and I sure have indulged myself on them. Thank you.

Viikii doesn't have A Man Called God up yet. We're mostly downloading and watching it seems. HaruHaru subs has subs for ep 1, but I think most of us are watching it raw. Ep 1 is about half in English anyway.
Hmmm, what else to watch?
Well, the recently finished Pasta is light a fluffy and has some of the best flirting in a kdrama in recent memory. Oh My Lady just started this week and looks promising so far. And there is always the oldie but goodie and fun Super Rookie.

I'm watching AMCG with C-subs so not only do I know the story, I actually get the dialogue. If anyone wants to know, I'll provide a spoiler, but honestly, story is the least engaging part of my high like for AMCG. It's all the chemistry and style, baby!

My prediction
-Either IRIS or QSD will win for best drama
(I've seen Queen of the housewives and Brilliant Legacy and neither I think are strong enough to beat IRIS or QSD. Chuno I'm guessing is not in IRIS and QSD league by my own personal MIL meter. She reads a lot of korean newspapers and we talk about Korean current events, especially those concerning kdramas.)
-LBH for Best Actor
-GHJ for Best Actress
-If they are giving a Daesang its either LBH or GHJ but I'm tilting towards GHJ

I'm having a so-bad-it's-good festival!
New Moon - Watched on plane. Loved it! I was grinning all the way through it. May have to watch it again to savour those lines, because, lemme tell you folks, they are gems. Gems! I couldn't write those lines if I tried. Actually, no, I lie. I COULD right those lines. I just couldn't deliver them with a straight face. Hats off to actors for delivering them with full commitment. Well, most of the actors. I thought Robert P just looked like he wanted to throttle his agent.
A Man Called God - Watched ep 1. What a hoot! Love the glorious camp. Have to say, SIG has tons more charisma than one-expression(pained) Robert P. Pama-fantastic! Purple socks!
As you can probably guess, I'm a bit brain dead these days. Have to work rather hard, grr. Watched Chuno 16 last night, but it was all a bit too grim to be much fun. Will stick with the mindless for the rest of my trip, I reckon.
As it is, snuggling into my bed with electric blanket and laptop on a cold rainy Tokyo night is perfect. My room is 12 degrees centigrade (53 fahrenheit) before I turn on the wretched blow heater. Why don't the world's most technologically advanced people believe in double-glazing or central heating? Sigh. Think I'll go take a hot bath now.

Just had a huuuge Chunothon this week, it's my week off work and I've been indulging in kdrama. I've actually caught up to 22. Only the two finales left today and tomorrow. Sniff.
Same goes with OBGYN it finishes tomorrow, for good. So sad!
Chuno seems to have knocked my socks off and had me clinging to it with its killer cliffhangers at the end of every epi. In the earlier episodes I found it quite tedious but glad I kept hanging as episode 16 onwards turned out really rewarding. Anyway who hasn't seen beyond episode 17 yet, you're in for BIG surprises. Love-love!
OBGYN is a priority though tonight. Only because this drama has set in somewhere deep in my female psyche and it has moved me so many times. It has a firm spot in my heart. (Le sigh!)
With Chuno; it's wholly entertaining but I don't quite have the same emotional attachment. Namsayin'?
@serendipity -
I loved episode 16 of Chuno, it was a pretty substantial watch, the story gets a good kick up the backside and gets rolling! It was about time Dae-Gil and Song Taeha had a man-to-man.
From epsiode 16 to the 20 I say Chuno is non-stop fabulousness.

Chuno - It gets better? Excellent! Sadly, I have to wait for subs (and can't get on Viiki), so I'm behind and know it will be impossible for me to watch the doubtless kick-ass ending spoiler-free (that is, bound to be either kick-ass super or kick-ass lame). :-(
Never mind. To be perfectly honest, I enjoy Chuno, but I'm not emotionally invested. I couldn't even get into the DG-TH one-on-one in Chuno16 - I think I was too tired to be charitable, and kept thinking "get on with it, enough with the slow-mo" and "oh gimme a break you can't expect me to believe the fight can end up like THAT!" Notwithstanding, I DO feel pretty sad that I won't be getting to the end spoiler-free. And pretty sad that JH probably won't get his baeksang. Never mind, JH honey, you have my undying love, and you know that's miles better than any dumb award.

Oh... I see... Thank you. In that case, I might just wait and see if it'll be available somewhere in near future... After all, my to do list is piling up high, anyways and according to what others have written here, I'm not sure if it's something I'd like to invest my time on. After all, I'm a Chuno drop out. It was too much of the heart wrenching sort of pain for me...
On the other hand, I did checked out Oh my lady ep.1. So far, so good. Easy(predictable)enough to follow. JB's recap is promising, though. I might just stay with this one for now unless it'll get to be too boring.

What kinda place are you staying!? No central heating? No double glazed windows??? Did you mention it's a company owned dorm or something somewhere? Electric blanket? Well, it's not like you had a choice... Sorry to hear this. Still, please enjoy your stay there. It's sorta easy for me to say this now that I'm home... As much as I enjoyed my stay there, it was all about working and nothing much else... Oh wait, there are some pretty decent Taiwanese style massage places in Ginza area. 6000 yen for 1.5hours of being pampered. Check out the coupon books with Peanuts(snoopy) characters at metro stations! Just in case, you get to go to the area.
Come to think of it. I saw two K movies on my way home. One was The sword with no name which was in a way, fantastical and lovely. Another one, something about Korean president(couldn't finish this one as I slept through last half of my flight)

Enjoy your week off and getting caught up with everything!
Yes...CHUNO something else. Jang Hyuk good acting....I loved the market place scene...wow...talk about intense! Then the fight scene? Cinematography fabulous. I'm not good at those fight scenes with knives and swords....yikes!
Oh no....you will be seeing OBGYN finale all ready? I vowed not to watch RAW version! I am anxious to see it!
I just got through watching Last Scandal.....it was enjoyable and entertaining...although my cousin told me the lead actress was tragic cause she committed suicide. :-( The actor was nice looking.
Good to see your posts!

Saw pics from the CU press conference.
Most glaring items of note (and I rank in order of element of sheer hilarity and concern):
1. Taecyeon's hairdo. For a man so hot (I've never even heard him speak/sing/perform, but c'mon, just look at most pictures of him), he has just found the perfect way to de-hot himself. Meet the newest in fug: the modern BOWL haircut. To think he left the house looking like that.....much less attended a press conference. Perhaps he didn't want to take any limelight away from Chun! Jung! Myung! Taec, honey, don't worry, CJM doesn't need any favors.
2. Seo Woo's entire physical appearance. This I am frantically worried. What happened to my fresh faced Beo-jin? Her entire face looks pulled taut, like she had either a face light of massive amounts of botox, and her looks weirdly proportioned, which I blame on her stylist shoving her into half a dress/a doll's sized dress. Actually, all the promo pics Seo Woo looks awfully off-kilter.
Thankfully CJM and MGY look normal, healthy and cheery. CU worries me, but I can't look away, well, cuz I endured MFL, didn't I? (and gave up on WISCF). After Chuno, I'd ready for the double whammy of CU and PT, with early indications that PT may just be as adorable as CF (maybe, pretty please).
Tazza watch report: JH = a solid A--- (and fine, oh so fine, looks even better looking that he did in Robbers), HYS = a solid B- (but probably is lower since I can't speak Korean but apparently she massacred the Busan accent, which to my untrained eye sounds a whole lot like HYS is speaking Korean with an Valley Girl accent), KMJ = a solid B, Kim Gab-soo minus a finger + eating a giant piece of raw sushi with a maniacal grimace = off the charts, what's above an A+?
Story of Tazza = a depressingly poor C-. I'm totally bored. Perhaps only HK can make gambling seem exciting and interesting? I dunno, it's booooring, and ponderous. Fun soundtrack, but only JH is keeping me hanging in there (as JH did in Robbers as well before I bailed).
@ nycgrl
I discussed watching Thank You, but need to finish Tazza first. I plan to watch all of JH's dramas, except for Bright Girl, bc that was chubby JH and apparently, samsooki says chubby JH is NOT the same as Chuno JH, so I will pretend evidence of hubby JH doesn't exist. Oh, and JNR with chubby JH = pfffft.

hehe, think i won't respond to a jang nara pfft hidden within 300 comments of an open thread?
jang nara is the ONLY bright spot in the whole drama. successful story of a bright girl had its moments, and ALL of them had jang nara in it.
and the chubby jang hyuk is like a completely different person (acting and otherwise) than the more recent choco abs version that has graced the small screen....
