You are back in DC? For how long? (psst, Luigis on 19th and M - ish NW....been there forever. Order the manicotti if it's on the menu. The service tends to be a bit on the rude side - personally the only time I get great service there is if I take my brother - who looks VERY Italian and doesn't wear his wedding ring. 8-) Let's just say that the zias put the lovely nieces out to wait his table faster than a speeding bullet. I used to work across the street and even as a regular my service was iffy unless I ordered in decent Italian. But the food...yum.

Mine came too! So totally giggling like it is Christmas over here. The postal lady was surprised that I looked at the package and said "oh goodie!!! It's here!" grinned and bounced up and down. 8-) Poster may end up going to momochan's science lab partner - who in one of those quirks of fate, is a fan. We got the stickers, which is a bit of a bummer as momochan was hoping for the pig rabbit key chain. I may have to put one in my next YesAsia order.
The extras aren't subbed, so I'm thinking of ripping them and letting the subbers go at them.

@lovenyc52 - Welcome back to the DMV area! Hey, if you have time for a stop in VA, I'd definitely recommend stopping by Annandale (aka Koreantown). The pasteries @ Shillas are to die for....makes me a little less jealous of all the foodporn that goes on in korean dramas (just a little..)
Hey, you're the fellow WongFu fan right - squee!! ^^ That's why I love DB - we are the sum of all fandoms. ^^ I also started following them in their pre-company days when they were still filming cheesy (but awesomely entertaining) lipsync MVs with their friends. To be honest, I haven't been loving some of their recent stuff....but the latest "Technology" series has totally brought the love back!! Funny thing is..when i was watching the "Technology Kills Romance" one...I kept thinking, "Wouldn't it be awesome if someone did a wuxia vers of this?"

unfortunately i have almost zero time in dc. tonight my friend and i are heading to a lebanese place she loves. i've never had lebanese food before so i'm really lookin forward to it!
@ yenchan
yep!!! i <3 wongfu to pieces hehe. i really adore most of what they do - even just their lil vlogs that they do. it's a fun insight into who they are. but the technology kills romance series is just so... signature of them. like all artists. nothing is 100% succesful, but they're still a really fun trio to follow.

@ momosan :
You got stickers? I don't see any stickers in my box. I got a keychain but it's not the pig rabbit, it's a picture of their 4 caricatures. It came in a plastic bag with my "A.N.JELL Fan Club Membership Card" (I canNOT stop laughing--it is exactly like the most giggly Christmas!). I got a 2010 poster-calendar, too, small, rolled up inside a space-filler box.. Where were your stickers? Just the box set box itself cracked me up, especially as it took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to open it!

My little packet with the membership card had packets of stickers of the caricatures. Did you check out the little photo book?! Hysterical how they spelled Jeremy!! LOL!
Am watching episode 1 right now instead of paying bills. I can see where they extended the scenes, but it's really seamless.
So far subs are good except for the Ko vs. Go Mi Nam issue.
@57 cingdoc
The shipping ended up being $30 so it was about $150 total. Which was essentially the same as I saw they were asking for the City Hall DC so I didn't feel too bad.

I flipped through the picture book, and yes, I saw Jermi and laughed. (Germy? the voice in my head said... so unlike the sweet little Jérémie that Go Min Nam always used). I decided the keychain is actually a phone thingy, which is too bad, b/c I don't have a mobile phone. I may have to convert it.
Aw, cingdoc! You can come over for the marathon weekend if you want. I think I want to just go flat out and wallow in it. I don't think I have the self-control to watch it episode by episode.
Honestly, looking at this stuff is making me giddy. I've had a day of giggles out of it already.
I also got a 2010 calendar and a 2010 date book... which may have to go to the real live 12 year old, too (instead of staying with this imposter who ordered the box set).
There's not one image of Yoo Hye Yi (sp?) in the box set anywhere, and just one pic of Manager Ma and Coordi with the band.

today i went to the national mall and walked around the monuments myself. i should have brought a stuffed animal (dweji tokki perhaps???) to take my place in pictures as it's hard to self-take pictures with monuments in the back ha. the only pic i have of me in it is a reflection of me in the vietnam memorial.

I'm on the Assorted Gems bandwagon. I'm on episode 4. Very good so far though since I'm in the setup area the plot feels a little forced right now and acting hasn't settled in yet for some of the none veterans.
@hjkomo
I think KJW signed with a new agency while still with his former agency so he is being banned from kdrama as a punishment. I'm not sure how long the ban is for though.

I just love korean guy's voice. Half the time that I spend watching kdramas is me squeeing over their deep voices and of course the mostly cheesy lines. =) I usually don't do that over mandarin speakers and definitely not cantonese actors. Maybe it's because I don't understand the language??
I also think Chor Lau Heung is MM's most iconic role. I read three of the books because of the show. I didn't realize that there were five more until recently, but so sad that BY's character is not "real".
You bought Fearless Duo?? Nice! That is one of my favorite series. They are so cute together in the series. I grew up with LOCH so in my mind they there were always HR and YH, but as I grew OLDER, I found out that they were considered to be one of those perfect onscreen couples. I remember before TVB started coming out with the VCD/DVD of the classic series, I would tape it when it shows on TVB channel, late night. Awww... the good old days.

I'm back fr my trip sorta.. in HK still... we were 'adventurous' and took a driving trip to Shangrila and Lugu Lake (the tribe there is a matriarchial tribe... no marriage institution at all, the guys just go 'bed hopping' as politically incorrect as it sounds) fr LiJiang (all in YuNan, China...) travelling along the old Tea route/S silk route with my super limited HKer mando, I'm glad I survived literally since we decided to do a short but panting hike on YuLong mountain(aka Jade Dragon mt...sooo wuxia) ~4000m altitude in snow I'm still very overwhelmed with ALL the vista (real or fake...*sigh* they literally can pour concrete and make fake waterfalls at an already impossible pretty group of blue lakes just to make a vintage point for a touristy pic for the reflection of the snow mt...very WTF) all the diff culturals and ethnic groups...and sadly all the modernization and how uber touristy it is now... I also spent a fortune on too much PuEr tea... feeling like a horse on the old Tea Route.

Yay, you're back, in civilization that is (my definition of civilization is anywhere with internet access, I know, I'm a heathen). I miss our spazzing, too, but even without you around to spazz back, I singlehandedly took spazzing to a whole new level last night with the news that JWS-CSW were teaming up in IRIS 2. There goes my next year - fangirling our loverboy in Clothes and online stalking the HOTTEST Duo in filming IRIS 2.
I haven't started Fearless Duo yet, waiting for my DVD set to arrive. Royal Tramp was a royal failure after episode 12 and such, but hubby and I are having a riot waiting DoMD together, seriously, Tony's performance is so funny that I spend 90% of time just laughing until my gut hurts. The scene at the Shaolin Temple when WXB is bored senseless and goes to a kungfu training session and proceeds to "teach" all the disciples the Three Dog Technique (1. Scabby Dog Scratches Back, 2. Yellow Dog Pees, and 3. Brown Dog Eats Shit) made us laugh so hard I fell off the bed! I was rolling around laughing and didn't realize I was at the edge until *thunk*!
Sigh, good TV is truly therapeutic. Hubby has been in a foul foul mood from work, and lots of people pissing him off for doing bad work or shirking work, and watching DoMD with me really makes him forget the stress.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in HK. I'm adore Pu-Er tea, I should ask my daddy to bring some tea leaves from China next month.

Will keep you updated on my Fearless Duo watch as well. MM-BY 4ever!

DoMD stands for Duke of Mount Deer (which is the drama's English title), which is a TV adaptation of the famous Louis Cha novel Duke and the Cauldron. I've attached a wonderfully written review of the series, and the one I am talking about and recommend is the 1984 TVB adaptation with Tony Leung and Andy Lau.
http://www.spcnet.tv/TVB-Series/The-Duke-of-Mount-Deer-review-r1480.html
You can find torrents online with hard subs in English to download. The first few episodes are a little slow and spotty, but once Tony's lead character Wei Xiao-bao meets up with Andy Lau's Emperor Kang-xi, the goods times roll and never stop.
The Three Dog Technique scene is around episodes 20s or so, I can't remember, but what I failed to mentioned is that not only did this jackass teach a bunch of poor little monks these terrible and demeaning techniques, after he demonstrates each technique, he proceeds to play a game of Simon Says whereby he randomly shouts out a technique and the entire group has to quickly transition from move to move. And everyone does it so diligently and meaningfully bc WXB is at the Shaolin Temple as their grandmaster and they have to respect and listen to him. Seriously, funny and crass to the nth degree.
Anyways, DoMD doesn't lack for crass and WTH moments interspersed with a truly epic storyline. Enjoy if you want a fun, fast, and interesting drama. Oh, and I learned a buttload of Chinese history as a kid when I watched it. Good and good for you, too!

There are some NGs in the making of disk but not many. The funniest one is the ShinWoo/Go Mi Nam coffee ad fantasy sequence. They kept cracking up. He'd be half way through his lines and she'd put the book over her face and just laugh and laugh.
I do have to say that the subs are committing one sin that I find annoying - which is replacing things like hyung-nim with his name, and not using the titles - so it's Miss Wang instead of Coordi Wang, etc. Very annoying.
OTOH, some of the extra footage is priceless. 8-)

@twin, o gosh, I didnt know... should get some PuEr for u next time then... I didnt know anybody my age who adores PuEr tea (hubby still insisted it has a cockroach poop taste...to which I had to digress how on earth did he ever taste cockroach poop)
but yeah everything in China is diff now, very blingbling $$$ commercial, my fam was dragged in a room and was given a taste of the mainland style of abrasive, aggressive sales tactics... they were trying to sell my parents a 42 yo (claimed) brick of tea, said there's only 2 bricks left, one was served to Wen JiaBo on his official visit, and if we're interested, they can sell us the only one left in the store with certificates and so forth. (to which hubby and I wrinked and grinned madly inside, love watching con artists at work...lol) how much? she said $28000 RMB (pwahahahahaha....) she pulled 'o x0% of sales will go to Hope School for building schools for the kids living in the poor tea region...' 'o I have to meet quota this month so that I can go back to school...' and when we wanna leave, she dropped the price of that 3kg tea brick to 8000 RMB (PWAHAHAHA) very hilarious.
DoMD is the only drama that I can rewatch for the rest of my life, I also got myself a dvd of it in HK (my overused copy is vcd) DoMD has that and soo much more thatn perfect slapstick witty comedy esp that sizzling bromance btn Tony and Andy... no brokebackness, just gooey platonic hotness...very finesse) there will never be a better WXB than Tony circa 80s, he acted out that 90% of WXB sleaze and put his own childlike charm then to good use and give WXB a soul. even the Tony Leung now can't be a better WXB than what we saw in DoMD.

oh geez, my last trip to Beijing, I was hosed and taken for a ride to dumbassville by so many vendors, bc I'm a total pushover when it comes to buying stuff, and my parents weren't around to shield me. I'm still bitter I own all these useless junk that supposedly were so awesome. It's my own fault, but still.
You guys sound way more savvy than me, so glad you didn't end up shelling for that magic brick of tea. :-P
Pu-Er is extremely musty and oakey smelling, you agree?, but has such a sweet, mellow flavor. I think it probably appeals more to the ladies, and older folks. I also like Iron Guanyin tea. I need to throw a tea and choco pie party and invite all my drama friends over! Our version of ladies night out.
So last night, I continued by DoMD watch with hubby, and a character who shows up mid-way introduces himself as I am __________, the second son of the House of _________. When that happened, I started cackling like a banshee bc hubby's last name is the same as this character, and he's also a second son. So I spent the entire night call him the second son of the House of _______. And later, hubby realized that I was making fun of him bc that character is quickly revealed to look fine and handsome but is in reality a giant TOOL. Hahaha, I had so much fun mocking all the sons of ________, and alleging hubby was descended from that house. Hubby was not amused after a while, but if he annoys me anytime, I'll keep calling him the second son of the House of ________. In case you can't figure out which character I am talking about, he's from Taiwan and likes Ah-ke and prefers to behave like a swaggering asshat.
And lastly, hubby says, "Ah-ke is such a giant bitch, and ugly, my fave is Shuang-er." Sigh, I knew I married the right guy, my marriage ties have been strengthened.
I agree with your feelings about DoMD, my last time watching it was in the mid-90s, and it feels as fresh, funny, and entertaining as ever. I cannot believe Tony was just 22 when he played WXB, I hate to say this role was Tony's crowning glory, but sometimes I feels like its one of his best performances EVER in his career. And I read somewhere that the real Tony is introverted, shy, quiet and reserved, and that WXB is 180 degrees different from him in real life. Its impossible to believe, but makes his performance even more extraordinary. And I think Andy matched him scene for scene, exquisite transformation from green kid to glorious Emperor.
