@twin,
I HATE Red Chamber the book as well, but still, me very shallow lol....there's sth very gothic , kickass and doomed (ie befitting) w/ the waxy/ghastly makeup (or those 3 inch red nails Yang Mi is spotting for her Qing Wen in this remake) + gorgeous textiles and WOW set. VERY my guilty pleasure, that's all. (and even shallower, the boy playing Jia Bao Yu..YangYang (in Water Margin as well), very indecently young and yum: a cross btn Kim Bum and JIW w/ a bit of Johnny Weir flare?!)

OMG, no idea WUAS is 20 eps!!!!! make my day!!
Actually I just wanna angirl on TK, there's NO shackle of mean bone in this kid. I'm going so awwwwww with how he handle himself and treats PK in 12. AWWWWWWWW
and PK, I'm having serious girl crush on her. i'm going GO GIRL at every one of her speeches in 12! let KH angst! lol tbh, KJW is not a terrific actor, but his sparkling brooding glaze (and his bod in shower) is not sth a girl can resist, but our PK has her priority st! I'm happy.
For me, I don't need OTP lovey doveys... usu if it happens too early, it'll scream jumping the shark (shenanigans of evil parents tearing them apart, the whole class issue... all bleh for me). And I'm not forgetting our KH was MEAN, and good for PK she's not reduced to her old fangirl self! soo sooo proud of her!
@ langdon, o u r watching LoCH??!?! *squeee*

HE LOOKS LIKE PARK KYU! Sorry, I'm freaking out here, I saw the trailer for Red Chamber, and in costume I could barely see anything clearly, too much eye candy backdrops and rich ass dripping costumes.
Anyways, Yang Yang looks like Im Joo-hwan's younger brother (which is what Kim Bum looks like sometimes).
Watching Red Chamber will be akin to screeching nails on a chalkboard for me, pure unmitigated torture. I will also be screaming DIE at the OTP everytime they are together, which is no fun. :-(
PK is the my fave leading lady since KSA as Shin Mirae in City Hall.

I don't even know who the cute guy is, but he reminds me of Park Kyu(as in TEAM PARK KYU)...oooooh, another eye candy for ICOMYM members, he he ;)
I was thinking to myself... for all of my single younger friends here in OT, if I see you guys this weekend, I would give you all a lai see/red packet for CNY ( maybe a virtual one ?? o_O ) Gung Hai Fat Choi anyway...
edit: lol on how @ockoala and I drool, I mean think, alike ;)

'I will also be screaming DIE at the OTP everytime they are together, which is no fun.'
lol, that's my kind of fun when I turn on my silly magpie self and just ogle at the costumes/set/the sparklies. I can care less about the OTP (or anybody) in Red Chamber. frankly the boy is a confused gay guy trapped in a harem of pretentious wellbreed horny gossip girls, how else can I explain his fascination w/ that twiggy bundle of neverending tears?! he's better in wherever he's heading after spitting all his blood for his poor poor taste.
o yes, haha Park Kyu! I'm not on the Tamra wagon yet.... can see the resemblance very clearly now
@ cingdoc, Gung Hei Fat Choi! :)

My description of Jejoonwon was a mite off earlier.
For a period piece, it reminds me most of a classic uber-producer Yang Pei Pei's works. Not her 90s bastardization of LC adaptions. But what made her famous and won drama awards by the bucket loads. Her period pieces involving Japanese colonization and turn of the century angst.
My absolute fave 还君明珠 (Damian Lau at his finest, and OMG the story, SO GOOD): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wCNL7lucz4
Or the classic 春去春又回 (which lured Patricia Ha to come to TV - YPP also got Patricia to be adult Huang Rong in her RoCH, but let's pretend that didn't happen): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnrF8sNSMjw
八月桂花香 (where Roman sang the theme song! yay, Roman singing in Mandarin is just as fantabulous): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaBPx0cf8NU
Anyways, I heard YPP is remaking her own classics with a mainland cast, but still I adore the oldies, which I watched as a kid, the songs immediately make me teary. Jejoonwon for some reason immediately evoked these old dramas for me, in a good way. I very anticipating the watch in a few weeks.

Hee, we drool alike and at the same time! Team Park Kyu unite!

"random Anne of Green Gables reference!" -- Well spotted! A line I find myself often quoting as I lie in bed... thinking back on one disaster or a day or another... I love my Anne.
WUAS is my obsession... as various commentators have said "it's owning me". I think b/c Pal Kang is so flawed and yet so capable of handling her own redemption. She's risen so beautifully to the challenge of her situation, but she's made mistakes and learned from them, too. She is constantly confronting all the mess she made of her life up until now -- well, really, the waste of good energy and opportunity -- and she's fearless and honest in that confrontation. And Kang Ha is honest, too, though more brutally... Someone pointed out (here? on the recaps page?) that what Kang Ha has done to help PK, he's done in a way which empowered her, not just shovelled stuff onto her, making her grateful but no further ahead in her own growth and abilities. He's done things which give her possibility of success, but she still has to make it on her own, so his actions also speak to his faith in her abilities to pull her life together. Two leads a viewer can respect, and no one (so far) selflessly lying to try to force the other one to be 'happy', except Younger Uncle who's just being obtuse. Well, there'll be more discussion of that after the Ep 12 recaps. I will just say, I thought for a moment we were going to get the High-Speed U-Turn That Says I Love You, but phew, not yet.
And I'm also just obsessed with the adorable Pa Rang.

Waahh…hello again friends as I was finally able to dig myself out of my igloo of snow…which has now become an igloo of ice thanks to the blizzard that just came through. I now have 30+ in of snow around my house with no where to put it (other than my neighbor’s yard….hmmz, now that’s an idea –lol-) All this digging and shoveling has turned me into a hunchback. I’m so glad to be back to my usual pastime of catching up on the latest dramas and OT banter. Life is good again.
@momosan – I think javabeans keeps a list of her rotating headers here: http://www.dramabeans.com/about/the-give-luv-lotsa-love-page/ Btw, how are things on your side of the DMV area? Are you guys ok? I heard a lot of areas lost power and they had to close down some freeways in MD too.

We're doing ok here. My friendly neighbors dug us out from the first storm. Even they gave up on this one, and our local gas station owner sent his 2 teenagers around with equipment to dig out this storm. LOL! He'll be getting brownies! LOL!
A couple of friends up in Monkey Co are out of power, but are holding up. The roads are looking pretty good right now, too.
The house looks like an igloo, though! Snow dripping from the roof has met the drifts coming from the ground.

Something to share ( for Valentine Day???)
This was given to me by one of my closest girlfriends...
A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years.
They had shared everything. They had talked about everything.
They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned him never to open or ask her about.
For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day, the old woman got very sick, and the doctor said she would not recovered.
In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside.
She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crotcheted dolls and a stack of paper money totalling $95,000.
He asked her about the contents. "When we were to be married, my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet dolls."
The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only 2 dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all the years and so loving toward him. He almost burst with happiness.
"Honey," he said, "that explains the dolls, but what about all those money? Where did it come from?"
"Oh, "she said, " that's the money I made from selling the dolls $1 a piece."
....and of course a Prayer that goes with the above story,
Dear Lord,
I pray for Wisdom to understand my man,
Love to forgive him,
and Patience for his moods.
Because Lord, if I pray for Strength,
I'll beat him to death,
And I don't know how to crochet.
Amen.
I used to knit til my arthritic hands prohibit me, now I watch kdrama( last time I checked, I was on # 43 ;)
Happy Valentine Day, everyone

I believe the Tamra director's cut DVD with English subs from YA Entertainment is scheduled to be released in April. Sigh, too long of a wait. City Hall I'm fine waiting bc we saw the entire drama (tho the director's cut did add some goodies, but no one expected it). Tamra was cut, so I've been bitter about the deleted scenes for months now, and seeing goodies such as this one is wonderful yet rekindles the angsty waiting.
Sigh, that scene was the quintessential encapsulation of the BJ-PK relationship. He's warm and firm with her, she's bratty but mindful of him. And when IJH smiled his PK trademark smile, I was immediately transported back to Tamra Island and their lovely interactions in the early episodes.
And did you guys have a horror-movie moment when the camera pans back and you see PK's mom lurking in the background with her patented glower, she looked like she was haunting our beloved couple. I LOL'd.

Love your Valentine's story. ROFL! :P
My hubby's spending Valentine's Day at band practice. His bandmates were a little hesitant - "Won't your wife mind?" And he assured them that I wouldn't care.
Which is true - I don't care...because it just means I get more time with kdramas and hunky slave hunters. ;)
I got a funny email today -

Go Cal sisters! (I forgot, I think I'm supposed to be a Cal supporter now, but I don't even remember why?). He, whatever, the V-days story and jokes are all too cute!
I'm be busy celebrating Lunar New Year and V-day has to take a backseat this weekend.
Oh, @ mookie, if you check here, I tweeted you, I'm about this close to watching Royal Tramp (aka ZJZ's adaptation of Duke of Mount Deer), and I need some 411 on what to expect. Help me...
Also, you need to get on the Tamra bandwagon, you're really missing out on why Team Park Kyu! does random uncontrollable squeeing all the time. ;-)

greetings fr HKG... early Happy V Day and Happy Lunar New Year (we can never have enough well wishes and fresh starts even if we're not celebrating it, right?!!)
@twin,
I did not sit down and watch it intently, it was on TVB when I was visiting HK last year
I find those 7 wives super lookalike, yes all pretty, but zero personalities... I dun know enough of the younger Chinese actresses,a couple of them r quite well known (not to me), I only recogn the now wife of Jordan Chan?! and she's a miscast for me.
My biggest prob with it was there's zero chem btn HXM and the King (Wallace Chung... soo average in everything I've seen).. That's very depressing....and ZJZ has a superpower in dragging out the most terrifically brilliant scene on paper... not that he's bastardizing it, it's there in context...but so not in soul, making all the dramatics tension-less
scoring all the TV Deer Cauldron/Royal Tramp I've seen:
1 (of coz). Tony/Andy one is just many stratospheres up there... yes Sandra Ng and the actress playing A Ke should not be there... but I dont care for those wifeys anyways... haha 9/10
2. I can stomach the Dicky Cheung one, imo the acting was all around decent, and it was frank to admit its bastardization... 7/10
3. this ZJZ one, I do think HXM is more suited for WXB than YG, he is a natural handsome cheap sleaze...but there's no meat, no depth to his WXB for us to engage with. 5/10
That Jordan Chan one is one stinky tofu+durian mess.. my gosh....that point is for his physical resemblance maybe 1/10

Hello, my fellow OT buddies. I've been so busy that I haven't had anytime to post, I've veen skimming through here and there including WUAS recaps, my only K drama indulgeence right now.
Anyway, I discovered that BigBang is actually having a big concerts tour starting today or tomorrow here in Japan. I, of course missed the chance to purchase tickets, I guess they were sold out within 10m. form the time they became available. After hearing that, I thought, Oh, darn, what a timing, this once, I'm in Japan and I can't go? Then, I thought about modern day scalpers on internet auction sites. So, off I want and found out even partial view seats are sold at at least a double price!? GOD! $160 for a partial view!!! Well, I gave in and begged my sister to get one for me since here in the land of rising sun, your forign bank issued credit cards aren't accepted. Anyways, long story short, I'm going! after spending $175 for a potentially partial view seat, I'll be there at Budoukan in 5 days!!!!!! My first time there. I'm soooo excited even though I'm going alone, nobody I knew were either interested or unavilable.
3 more days of class and 1 day off, that's the day for the concert as well! Everything worked out for me.
Just wanted to share...
