No episodes of Wish Upon a Star this week
by javabeans
(Sob.)
SBS is showing the Olympics, and therefore the episodes of Wish Upon a Star slated for this Monday and Tuesday will be pushed back to next week to make room for a special broadcast of Vancouver 2010 Prime Time.
Of course I understand since the Olympics is big stuff — and ratings are high in Korea, with the first Korean gold medal being won in short track speed skating and Kim Yuna’s high profile — but how bummed am I? (WHAT IS PAL-GANG GOING TO SAY TO KANG-HA’S SURPRISE CONTRACT PROPOSAL? TELL MEEEEEE.)
For now, Episodes 13 and 14 are rescheduled for next Monday and Tuesday. They’d better not pre-empt next week, too, although next Tuesday is the night of the figure skating ladies’ short programs…

@142 CP
Is that a good drama?
Well, it is terribly clichéd. I mean, seriously, terribly clichéd like it has every possible kdrama cliché ever and the thing is, they drive the plot ( I rolled my eyes soo much while watching this). The writing is meh and the story not so original and yet I liked it. I liked the main characters, liked them enough to marathon the drama and go back and rewatch some scenes. If you're looking for a "good" drama, then maybe you should skip it (it has sooo many flaws). I appreciated although maybe I shouldn't have.
I liked it because it was basically about "family". The drama starts with a family bound by blood, but that is nothing LIKE a family. Throw Gi Dong, a stranger, into the mix and slowly, painfully, even against their will, they start becoming one. I liked that very much. It's like Sons of Sol pharmacy or Bad family, but with a lot more clichés and romance, which was another thing I liked. But yeah, it's very very veeeery flawed and SO not in the same league of SoSP or Bad family. I'm not sure I should rec this: you know how sometimes you watch a drama and for no particular reason it touched you even though you realize you normally wouldn't like it? WDYCTMH was like that for me. I suggest you watch Flowers for my life first (AMAZING drama! Do not let dramawiki's recap put you off and spoil you, come to think of it, avoid DW at all costs. It's a must-watch drama. Don't trust me. Trust JB and her ratings and recaps ^^). You could also give Love Marriage a try if you need a KJH fix. Personally, I haven't watched it. I was going to skip it, but maybe I'll watch it someday.
Oh and a thing I should mention, I watched WDYCTMH without subs. The only subs I could find were ah, well, not so great and I was told the dvds had even worse subs (for some reason SBS didn't release an official boxset. And if they did, I couldn't find it anywhere). Anyhow, that's a thing to take into consideration if you want to watch it.
ETA: omg i'm so ashamed to admit I liked it.

Who else keeps coming to this thread because they don't know what else to do with themselves? :-P
We probably should be doing something more productive like actually speculating what will happen next or what big reveals might happen. There's plenty to speculate about. Maybe if they preempt again next week (please, oh please no!), JB can open a thread for speculation, just so we have something to soothe the withdrawal symptoms!

Almost forgot, that picture above that is the absolute hottest I have seen KJH look while fully clothed. It's the perfect combo of scruffy KJH without the lawyer shellack hairstyle, but smooth and denonair with the black suit. Yum yum yum!
And CJW, as I am enjoying her performance in WUAS more and more, she's also becoming prettier and prettier to me. (the reverse is happening with another actress whose performance I am liking less and less, sigh). I never thought CJW was pretty, and they definitely uglify her in WUAS, but her inner glow shines through and she's really just fresh and gentle in her beauty. Congrats to both CJW and KJH for picking this project, it's so well suited for them.
I'm waiting for more KH-PK scenes to guage their chemistry as a couple - so far, we have nothing yet to go on, but they do bickering duo quite well. CJW and SIK had less than zero chemistry in KotW, but I thought CJW and LBH had better chemistry in All In than LBH with SHG.
@ Quaggy
That would be me. Not sheepish at all, I love talking about WUAS!

Well! Just pop my balloon, why don't you SBS?.... But what to do? LOL. Hopefully, WUAS will be back on next week.
As for the Olympics... well, I'm not too into sports. It's on home ground and I've only watched some of it. WUAS still takes precedence. ^_^
Congrats especially to Alexandre Bilodeau for his historical gold medal!!!

Firstly, aceyyy~ you got me there with the inspiration line. I came back from work looking forward to watching WUAS before starting my essay as well as my dissertation work which is due in soon but after reading this news...i'm at a loss. The only thing thats not reducing me to tears is knowing that WUAS has got so many fans out there :D and that i'm not the only one feeling angry/frustrated/sad (i mean, my week has officially got off to an amazingly awful start now). Let's just hope they wont postpone next weeks either or that will just be too much to handle. WUAS fighting!!!! Ok. Off to bed i guess then!!

LOL! not to worry! Curling fans also tend to have a sense of humor, so we know it's a silly looking sport. Wait until you see the outfits the fans wear in the stands. 8-)
BTW, there are WUAS spoilers up over at Soompi. Now I'm not sure if I'm glad I read them or not. Sigh.
This thread has turned into Open Thread Jr, hasn't it. LOL! Taking myself back to the corral.

Too late, I started Why Did U Come to my house? .0( Already on EP. 5 in one hour. (Sounds like SamSooki style?? :0) You are right. Maybe I should watch Flower of My Life first. That's what I will do...Got to make my long weekend worthwhile since Wish UAS is not aired...0(

I am such a sports fanatic so I have no time to watch dramas during the Olympics - heck I sit up all night watching figure skating, which ends at 5:30 AM my time. So I am not complaining - I understand SBS. When Yuna is going to skate next week, even though it is Wednesday in Korea, I am sure they are going to milk it for what it's worth. I am sure her skates will set records in terms of viewership for Korea.
But I have to say - that is one really great picture of the two of them. So attractive!! :)

@ yd4nam
short track is a subset of speed skating, as its name implies, it's on a short track! It's like the roller derby of speed skating, and involves high likelihood of wiping out, taking others with you, and general mayhem and misery. And it's hella exciting to watch.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
I really can't believe some of the bashing I'm reading on this topic. Okay, there's no new episodes, I get it. Boohoo. We're all sad. But to bash a sporting event that comes once every four years? Really, guys? It sounds like the world is going to end from some of the posts!
Sorry, I just can't stand people who bash the Olympics. I LOVE WUAS but it's not THAT bad that it's been postponed. Go watch another drama then. I'm not really into sports myself but everytime I watch the Olympics I'm reminded of the world's ability to get along even for just a very brief moment. I get so excited about the wide array of sports shown. And there really is something for everyone. Since everyone here loves kdramas so much, why not root for Korea? I myself am rooting for team USA!
@118 ndegeocello- I felt really bad for the korean speed skating team. So, so, so, close. I was actually rooting for them because Apolo Anton Ohno already has so many medals (6 now!). Oh well. I also agree with you that Savchenko and Szolkowy had better choreography but with Shen and Zhao in the competition, it's gonna be close. Shen and Zhao is the crowd and dare I say it? judges favorite, imo. They're probably gonna take home the gold tonight.

And here I was checking viikii every hour for new episodes.... I kinda assumed that something big was on this week when it was already 7 pm and there still were no episodes up. They better make up for it next week!
As for next week, I have a feeling that she won't accept his proposal for an extension with the contract. What with how she acted last week, I have a feeling that she's pretty determined to stay away from the brothers (and the nephew) since things have become complicated.

I keep checking nevertheless to see if there's a Wish Upon a Star recap. Sigh. It makes me depressed because there's not. Love that picture of KJH though. :)
But anyways, yep, like 170 said, the Olympics is a worldwide event that happens ever 4(?) years- we can always watch WIsh Upon a Star some other time in the future. But the Olympics doesn't happen as often as a drama.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the Olympics results. Go Kim Yuna! :)

Lols, Sere, I can't agree more. And it's not just the cliched-ness of the drama, but also the lack of emotional transitioning - I don't get 3/4 of the adult characters in the drama and find myself stretching to explain their actions/reactions. But I also find myself unable to drop this drama. The children have the biggest pull on me - pure charm - since I'm rather disengaged with the adult love-square.
I've exhausted my patience for plot-driven cliched-ness, maybe in several months I'll be able to enjoy the overdramatics again - somehow I always can after a resting period. Until then, I'm going to have to stick with Pasta and SY. Chuno will have to wait to be caught up - not in the mood for sageuks.

Well - thanks for this, if I had not seen the post yesterday, I would still be waiting. Since I don't watch TV, I didn't even know the Olymipic were on.
In the US, if a program is pre-empted for the Olymipic, you dont' get that episode until the re-runs! I don't have enough experience to know what the outcome will be, but my enthusiasm for the drama won't dampen, even if extended anothe week.
It may not be the best - and Pal Gang's simpering is getting tiresome - but I love the characters - especially the children. It will also be fun watching them throughout their careers.
BUT - I must say that Kang Ha is a one beautiful man. I love those closeups.
