Kim Jae-wook and Kim Joon in mobile drama
by javabeans
Kim Jae-wook (Antique Bakery) and T-MAX’s rapper Kim Joon (Boys Before Flowers) have been cast as the leads of a new Korean-Japanese co-production called Pygmalion’s Love (subtitle: Give Me Your Memory). The project is a “mobile drama,” meaning that it will not air on television but be available as mobile phone content.
The plot deals with a woman, Mika, who loses all memories of her boyfriend. Playing Mi-ka is Japanese actress Minamisawa Nao (of the Japanese drama Dandy Daddy and film Akai Ito), and Kim Joon is the boyfriend Hyung-joon, who “experiences the conflict between friendship and love.” That’s probably because his friend Ki-young (Kim Jae-wook) somehow comes to act as Mika’s boyfriend instead, setting up the three for their love triangle. The meaning of the title isn’t given, although I suppose it has to do with Ki-young falling for Mika based on a false pretenses. (In Greek mythology, Pygmalion is a sculptor who fell in love with his own creation. The story has inspired numerous others, such as the George Bernard Shaw play and the musical My Fair Lady.)
Pygmalion’s Love comes from PD Kim Yoon-chul, who directed My Name Is Kim Sam-soon and Que Sera Sera. Kim Joon said, “I’m happy to be working with director Kim Yoon-chul, whom I’ve always respected. This is a valuable experience for me to learn as an actor.”
The drama is produced by Office Hara (Korea) and AVEX (Japan), and began filming in early February. After wrapping its month-long shoot in Korea, the first installment will be released on March 20 via mobile content provider BeeTV, which will show one new installment every Thursday.
Meanwhile, if you’d rather wait to see Kim Jae-wook on television, his next TV drama role comes in SBS’s Bad Guy (starring Kim Nam-gil and Han Ga-in), which is looking at a May premiere.

Finally! Kim Joon's getting some attention. And from a respected PD, I must say (ok, I am biased, for I like QSS.). But he really does look like Japanese. Yey for them both.

Is this pod tv? I still enjoy my big screen tv too much to squeeze any interesting entertainment in my mobile phone, so this news brings me little disappointment.
Interesting production nonetheless. Good luck!

The thing about mobile channels like BeeTV, is that i still wonder if you have to have a Japanese phone (in Japan) to view them.

I like both of these men, but let's see if Kim Jae-wook can do more than three emotions. This has potential to pull me in.

obligatory "I love Kim Jae-wook" comment. No, really, two awesome under-appreciated actors here. You go, guys! :)
On a side note: wow, I've just been reading about some major business moves from AVEX and some of the biggest korean entertainment companies and this seems like a joint project production-wise... like, how is the korean entertainment system working these days and is the Hallyu Wave maintained by non-korean groups already (ironic much?)?
Hmm, where is a business major with media machinations knowledge when you need one.

I wonder if Kim Jae-Wook is ever going to cut his hair? I bet he will for Bad Guy. That just... shouldn't happen. It's like a normal person removing a leg.

@ 12 Michelle LOL I normally dislike guys with long hair, but if Kim Jae-Wook cuts his hair, I will probably throw a chair at my laptop screen (and considering how precious my laptop is, that is a DIRE threat indeed)!
Please, someone, tell me this drama will somehow be uploaded SOMEWHERE on the internet available for streaming/download. I will be disappointed if not.
...although alternatively I could just get a friend from Japan to stream and download via mobile. I suspect that could be possible...right?
