Yoo Hana joins cast of Paradise Ranch
by javabeans
Yoo Hana, who played the adorably bubbly Eun-ji in Sons of Sol Pharmacy, has been cast as the romantic counterpart to DBSK’s Choi Kang Changmin in the upcoming drama Paradise Ranch. She joins Lee Yeon-hee (East of Eden) and Joo Sang-wook (Queen Seon-deok) in this story “set against the beautiful nature of Jeju Island, which deals with the lives, work, and loves of young men and women.”
Yoo Hana plays an up-and-coming interior designer who is a second-generation chaebol, and trades in her previously cute, energetic image for a more cosmopolitan one. The romantic melodrama boasts a “cheerful story that incorporates beautiful music” and is currently filming. It will be produced entirely in advance of its broadcast, which means no live-shoot system for this one. Perhaps buoyed by its lead actor’s popularity abroad, Paradise Ranch has already been bought for broadcasts in Japan and Southeast Asia. Yoo Hana also has a lot of overseas fans after acting in the Taiwanese drama My Lucky Star.
I hadn’t really been that interested in this drama, since we’ve had quite a few idol stars falling flat in lead-role acting debuts and the track record wasn’t looking good. Furthermore, I find Lee Yeon-hee absolutely beautiful to look at, but not quite natural in her acting. Yoo Hana, however, does have an effervescent charm onscreen and is quite likable. (Even though she can sometimes overdo the comic overtones, at least she does have a comic sensibility.)
Paradise Ranch will have 16 episodes and is looking at a March premiere.

I don't think I've heard of this drama before. I'll have to add this drama to my "to-watch" list. Hopefully it's not full of cliches and over-acting/brash/immature characters. One cliche I definitely have to hope isn't in this, is the "family loses its fortune" storyline.
It does seem interesting though.

Mine too! That drama was great acting wise, plot wise, and everything. The drama actually felt more like a kdrama than a twdrama.

I'll admit it: I'm going to watch Paradise Ranch solely for Shim Changmin! Have you seen photos of him on the set recently? He's so GQMF.....::wipes drool::
I think I'm the only one not looking forward to Cinderella's Sister so it's not going to interfere with watching Paradish Ranch. As for Lee Min Ho's new drama, my enjoyment will be highly contingent upon who plays the female lead.

I'm excited for this one since it got labelled as "cheerful melodrama" I really wonder how that makes sense but I'm sure it will later on. I think LYH will do a more powerful performance here afterall....how can you not remember her character from A Millionaire's First Love. I really hope that she improves her acting even though I don't really care for it since she generally pulls of her roles well.
I am definately worried about Changmin. It seems that the OST will be a hit since there are 2 musical talents.
I can't wait till it airs.

I'm going to watch this one for sure since I'm a fan of Lee Yeon Hee.
This is written by the writer for Coffee Prince, so its not going to have a disappointing plot like HTTG.
I do worry about Changmin's acting skills but hes a perfectionist, so perhaps his performance wont disappoint. Honestly speaking, his acting is the best out of DBSK.

I am now going to watch this because of Yoo Hana. I've loved her since My Lucky Star. She is such a great actress. I wasn't going to watch it before but now I'm going to have to. Hopefully Changmin's acting skills won't disappoint even though I am a big fan of DBSK.

The storline seems like fluff but I'm such a fangirl of Changmin (the only member of DBSK I like) that I have to watch this. I'm surprised that it'll have such a strong supporting cast. I hope the writing is good.

I will definitely watch this!!! Even though I like LMH and have fond of Cinderella's sister's plot, these are nothing to compare with my love for Chang min, so yes I will watch it because of him
Plus, I heard that the writer is from Coffee Prince and the PD is good and it is going to be broadcasted on KBS, which means I can watch it on KBS World
how wonderful is that!

I'm a fan of Yoo Hana but I'm really wary about Changmin's acting skills. We all know what happened to U-Know Yunho. But then again, this drama does seem to have a lighter and better tone and feel to it.
And what is up with all these dramas set in Jeju now? I think after seeing Tamra's beautiful scenes, many PDs now want to make a cash cow out of Jeju's beautiful landscapes.

NOW I realize where I've seen her. Not from Sol's but from My Lucky Star! Wow, that's like a mild head shock for me. I can't believe I didn't realize it earlier.

looking forward to this. i totally loved the plot of Coffee Prince even if the last episode was kinda stretched, and Into the Sun was awesome as well. I can't wait to see what the two awesome writers came up with. not to mention the PD for Hwang Jin Yi was certainly talented, and i loved that series so much. and it's pre produced to boot! i can't wait~
and being the changmin and yeon hee fan that i am, i am so looking forward to this drama. plus is has ahn suk hwan in it, you can never go wrong with that guy. ^_^

I do agree that Changmin's acting is better than the rest of the DBSK members... bit i also fear for the fate of this show. Would it end up like heading to the ground? all I can say is, the plot of this show better be good! cos it takes a superb actor or actress to really make a badly scripted drama interesting to watch!

Changmin is a better actor than the rest of DBSK? Okay, don't get me wrong (and don't throw bricks at me), I love DBSK and everything (hardcore fangirl here)... but Changmin, acting? I want to cringe. Changmin, child, please stick to singing.
When I think of Changmin acting, the first visual that comes to me is of this one scene in a Banjun drama, where they're talking about "Unforgettable Love" (which is the name of that episode), and Changmin is crying to the doctor about how the girl is about to die.... I wanted to shrink into a corner because the acting was just so... bad...

at no. 19?!
AS IF?! :O not having a go at you or nything, but my opinions completely different. i think that crying scene when the doctor said she was dying was very realistic. plus it's been years since that was released, his acting should improve a lot by not.
I agree with what most others are saying, i do think changmin is probably the best actor out of the 5. Hope it wont be a dissapointing drama
Changmin HWAITING! <3

I don't know why but I share the same thoughts with '...m@M'.
I do think that it's better if an idol singer sticks to his career of being an idol singer.
Many of them does well, in fact very well as a singer, but their acting skills are not up to standard I'd say.
Just like Chang Min's fellow bandmate Yun Ho.
He's one awesome entertainer with good looks, he should just stick to hitting the stage with awesome dance moves to impress the audience -- not wasting his time in devoting his all to 'Heading to the ground' which was barely a hit.
Idol singers' attention they get on stage is a vast difference from what they get filming a drama serial, and that simply shows that their fans prefer them on stage entertaining them, rather than portraying silly roles in some nonsensical drama serials.
There are more than enough K-actors with superbly realistic acting skills out there, so my suggestion would be idol singers -- stick to your part.
Entertainers are awesome as in entertaining so are the actors in their acting.
So let them stick to their part and you stick to yours.
Like everyone knows, Koreans are the unbeatables.
