Rough start for The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry
by javabeans
MBC was hoping for better, but the Wednesday premiere of its new trendy series The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry only brought in a 5.5% rating (AGB Nielsen numbers). Looks like Chuno is strengthening its hold with a 30.8%, while melodrama Will It Snow For Christmas brought in an 11%. TNS Media numbers put the ratings at 30.3%, 9.7%, and 4.7%.
Too bad; this means that the Park Jin-hee vehicle starring her as a 30-something career woman (with Eom Ji-won, Wang Bit-na, Lee Pil-mo and Kim Bum) hasn’t fared much better than its predecessor, Hero. KBS continues to dominate not only mid-week but also on weekends (Three Brothers) and Mondays-Tuesdays (God of Study).
On the flipside, first reviews of The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry have commented on the bright, comic storyline, interesting characters, and its dialogue, so I’ll be watching with optimism. (Haven’t seen it yet; will let you know you what I think.)

I am really excited about this dram and I don't give a rat's ass about the ratings. But I hope they'll improve if the drama deserves it.

It's tough for the Korean viewers with great options across the board. International viewers have it easier :-)

Yeah, MBC's been on an epic (i.e. KBS2-size) drought with their Wed/Thursday lineup. I don't think they've had a bona fide hit in that slot since 2007. :(

Caught the first few mins of it, but couldn't connect with the female lead so didn't venture much further.
Too many other dramas to concentrate on right now, but this is definitely one I'm going to catch up with later.
Kim Bum who? Sexy Jo Han Sun is in it!!! And he was looking sssmokin'!
I'm so happy to see him again! I think he'll be a bit of a sleazy player in this though, so... sniff!

Ouch. Another failure for Kim Bum. Along with his movie Bisang who did terribly. I just hope the PDs don't try to spice up the ratings with intense love scenes =_= I remember when the scriptwriters suddenly added a kiss between Kim Bum and Son Dam Bi that wasn't in the original script...
I thought this drama would make it to the top 20... considering the age group it was trying to appeal to. I guess other dramas are just more interesting

aah well...at least MBC can look forward to a hit or at least a solid ratings giver ( for the first few eps anyway) in personal taste when it replaces the woman who still wants to marry...thts if this completely tanks tht is...there is still time for it to recover me thinks! ah poor Bummie...im hoping tht the same fate does not befall LMH after the initial buzz dies down on PT....

Aww... looks like Kim Bum and the rest of "The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry" isn't faring great. Oh well, I'll still be checking this out, even if it is for only the sake of Kim Bum (but he makes it worth it, haha).
On the other hand, this is a sidenote, but have you seen the banner shot for "What's Up"? I keep looking at Im Joohwan (ROFL, I'm sorry Daesung, I love you too, but Team Park Kyu has itself ranked a bit higher than you in priorities... eek...). LOL.

I'm not at their age, but I wonder how many people can relate to them.. seeing how they're all successful(?) and beautiful. Plus, one of them is dating a cutie who's 12 years younger. Another one is married to a rich, good looking doctor. Oh.. their life is just so hard. LOL
I haven't seen the drama.. so I dunno. Just basing on the the descriptions.

I really liked the The Woman Who Wants to Marry and today's first episode was pretty hilarious. It's a pity that this drama isn't doing so well. If could have done well if Chuno wasn't in the picture. Oh well. Perhaps their reruns will do better.

Uwaa.. Poor Bummie. After Dream, Bisang and now this. I was hoping the 1st rating would be higher than 8%,but it's only 5.5%?Dang.That's triple ouch. IDK,maybe because other dramas are more interesting.Coz I also give my priority to Chuno & WISFC for the midweek dramas.

I kinda like this drama, Jung Dajung is pretty funny, and also Park Jin Hee...i really hope the rating lifts up somehow, because MBC`s scissor is quick in cutting eps.

At first I do not intend to watch this drama (not because it's bad but because too many dramas on my watch list and I do not have enough time to do so), but after seeing the above comments, I do think that this drama might be interesting as well. Maybe watch it later.

This was definitely in my 'to watch' list. I really like Park Jin Hee, she is so adorable. Is she in her 30's , doesn't look 30's to me. Kim Bum is definitely an eye candy and i cannot take him too seriously though, he is too young for me : (

dramabeans~~~!!! I ALREADY LOVE THIS DRAMA!!! sorry for the caps :( but i think this is a real winner :D:D:D although I think it's more appropriate for a weekend drama. I'm watching it now, but I haven't seen Kim Bum yet. I looooooovvvvvveeeeee Park Jinhee, but the other two female leads are pulling me in more. Wang Bitna is soo good at playing a cold character :D AHH!!!!! Kim Bum just appeared!!! :D:D:D I think Choi Chulho is back in a comedic role!!! YAAAAYYY!!! Also Daepoong is in this drama!!! More of a serious role like his previous drama characters, but still :D:D:D Unfortunately, I don't think it will do well especially since Chuno is such a heavy hitter. I have to admit though, Chuno bored me with too much 'prettiness'. I'm doing my own lent from Korean dramas in February. This drama is going to kill me. On the upside, all the subs will be out, and I can show the entire series to my non-Korean speaking friends!!! :D
I'm pretty sure that Kim Bum will be the main love interest, with Daepoong probably coming back into the picture to confuse Park Jinhee. She'll probably do the whole age debate thing, and eventually come to her senses and realize that Kim Bum is too fine to pass up! :D:D:D
Please give it a chance!!! and thank you for the WISFC recaps! :) I'm bummed it's going to end next week, but it'll be right before my lent starts soo that makes me happy :)

Loved the first episode! After all the heaviness of Chuno and WISFC and almost in danger of kdrama fatigue, it's such sweet sweet relief! Reminded me why I fell in love with kdrama in the first place. I'm in love with the womenfolk already, esp the wacky eom ji-won. Have been seeing too much of Choi Chul Ho - the man"s everywhere! - but he's pretty adorable being dorky. Made more of an impression than Kim Bum in that last few mins of screen time. Looking forward to the next episode!

Somehow, the cast interests me... (except for Kim Bum) But CHOI CHUL HO. JO HAN SUN. There's a lot ta see here. I'm not sure about the ladies... Park Jin Hee is so-so for me... But since I can't summon interest in watching WISFC (but i read recaps, those are the best part of the drama, heeee~) and Chuno (well, I don't watch kdramas for their historical dramas, but I did enjoy Hong Gil Dong and Hwang Jin Yi). I swear I'll try this one. After watching new episodes of Chuck. :D

Just had a go at the first 3 episodes and it's really good. I think the strong point of this story is that all the characters are likeable. I don't know how it will develop but after 3 episodes I am hooked, I hope they don't screw up the romance too much because the comical side is definitely good (for me).
