Ahh, this is fun as always.
I just got back from traveling, and the first thing I did when I got home was turning on the laptop and went to Open Thread... ( even though I became so sleepy and gave up half way, but I woke up this morning and resumed reading it :P )
Indonesian animal sounds:
cat – meong
dog – guk guk
rooster – ku ku ru yuk
sheep – mbek
pig – grok grok
hahaha, I just realized that animals in different countries speak differently too!
laughing sound , I know Korean loves to use keke, while I use hahaha or hehehe or hihihi, my housemate goes kakaka, and this stupid trend in FB : wkwkwk ---- how do you read it? they said it's supposed to be an abbreviation of wakakaka. Come on, if you want to abbreviate, don't just reduce a single letter! It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Anyone else watching KBS' Three Brothers? I like it, even if it isn't Sons of Sol Pharmacy House. and man, that mother is without any redeeming qualities.
::spoiler::
just saw on tonight's ep (well, i'm behind cuz I'm watching on KBS World) THE cutest, funniest marriage proposal. i hereby claim Lee Joon-hyeok who plays Kim Isang, the youngest of the three brothers. He's not -that- young -- b 1974 -- altho on the show he plays 27 to his fiance's 30.

I'm going to incorporate your story into my story routine, its an instant classic, and sure to please and impart the necessary wisdom to my young kids. Btw, I waded into the scrum myself, just a tad, still, it's pretty startling to see just how entitled people feel in this world, and that they feel entitled to say whatever the heck they want and cloak it in the word "opinion."
It's Conference Championship Sunday! Woo hoot. Colts-Vikings, baby! Just so I can watch Brett Favre eat Miami grass as he's sacked 5 times, has 6 fumbles and throws 8 picks in two weeks. Karma, baby, karma's a bitch. Oh, and Mark Sanchez, aint no one has ever won a Super Bowl with a porn-stache and beard, so next time, kiddo. Yeah, and I refuse to get on the Saints bandwagon.

I remember when I was but a post college youngling, I had a really nice boss who bought 10 pints of ice cream for his department every week and he paid for it out of his own pocket.
One day he was too busy to go out and buy ice cream so there was no ice cream that week but you would have thought the dingo ate their baby the way people were carrying on. Emails were flying back and forth within the department bitching about not having their ice cream. So-and-so remarked how she was looking forward to having some after lunch only to find no ice cream. Some people actually went by his office to point out that there was no ice cream in the freezer in case he missed it. Since I appreciate the ridiculous as much as the next loony I had a hearty laugh with some choice WTFs thrown in.
I was very friendly with him so I told him he should stop buying ice cream since his department clearly no longer appreciated it and they have started to think of the ice cream as what was owed to them. He agreed it was no longer fun to do it when people expected him to do it and the whole experience left a bitter taste in his mouth about human nature and so he stopped. Of course the shit hit the fan the next week as well but it died down gradually as it became no longer the top topic to bitch about but the bright side is everyone lost weight.

Unexpectedly, I find myself in Japan again with my day job. I'm flying home later today. The thing is I've just found out a shocking news! Here in this country, as of Jan. 1. 2010. Downloading torrent files have become illegal!!! Banned! How could it be? I was just searching for Bloody Monday Season 2 Ep.1 and so far no luck. Then, I came upon several site posting this! I guess they are still being posted and you can still choose to be engaged in illegal actions or not and I have no idea if the law is going to be strictly enforced or not. Hi all... I was away over the weekend, just got back and perusing OT which seems pretty wild this week. So sorry to have missed the Trivia Quiz, b/c I love those. Detail freak? I guess so.
I have just skimmed but wanted to respond to:
@ 108 ockoala -
Do you guys have any qualms or reservations about watching Attic Cat or Last Scandal today, knowing what happened? Or perhaps Lobbyist?
I saw Attic Cat before I knew about JDB's suicide, and only found out at the end. And I watched Last Scandal knowing. I decided it would be so much worse to just erase the work of those actresses as if b/c they committed suicide their work doesn't exist anymore. So Last Scandal I watched in a mildly paying-a-tribute kind of way, and thought about that actress and how good she was and how sad it was to lose her before her time and b/c she was so miserable. I vaguely recall JB having expressed sentiment along these lines some time ago, and I think that was in my mind when I decided to watch Last Scandal.
____
On the topic of toilets... I just started Wish Upon a Star... and am really liking it... did anyone else notice that mean Big Uncle's second floor bathroom is Hwang Tae Kyung's bathroom from You're Beautiful?

Welcome to the world of PirateBay. Torrents themselves are not the problem. They are simply a filesharing system. The use of torrents to knowingly DOWNLOAD copyrighted programs has now joined UPLOADING programs as illegal in Japan.
OTOH, the simplest way for Japanese ISPs to protect themselves is to block all P2P programs to block the 90% of stuff that is illegal. Could be worse. The PirateBay boys are facing jail time in Sweden.
Let me to a bit of fishing in my files....law enacted last June, went into effect Jan 1. Ah, no penalty clause, and streaming (which technically IS downloading, but kinda not) is not included.
OTOH, on the Google side of life, the same bill made legal the caching of pages for search engine use. Previously, this was considered a copyright violation (stupid, I know)
That said ::cough:: one of the largest torrent sites I know of is a private site that has exclusively Japanese stuff.
The next battle is going to be Italy I think.
Actually, the EFF folks are going bonko right now, but the REALLY bonko action is over in Security and Privacy. They are just....well, hanging out with samsooki's weasel, frankly....because of the Google/China hack and another little incursion.

One down, another one TBD. I understand the Saints bandwagon, unni. If you are from the South and you are NOT rooting for the Saints, you might as well tell your neighbors you can't make grits and eggs and that your Southern twang is faked. ;-)
Other than the whole "I-hate-that-dick-head-Favre-mentality-so-I-want-so-see-his-ass-kicked-on-Superbowl-Sunday", two other issues make me concerned about a Colts-Saints showdown: (1) the whole is Archie gonna cheer on his son or his team? oh noes, is Peyton going to make his hometown eat grass? oh woe, how can anyone NOT want NO to have their cinderalla-ending, and (2) if I see even one shot of Kim Kardashian in a box, I'm going to go blind, and if there is even a .5% likelihood that Reggie Bush might propose to a giant butt attached to Kim on SB Sunday, then no, I can't allow that to happen (or even a single question on Media Tuesday related to dating a *star*, I dies).
So, ergo, Colts-Vikings (but secretly, geaux Saints, I'm not a puppy kicker, you know).

Wow, so my reverse jinx worked. Colts-Saints, Super Bowl in 2 weeks. Boo Ya!
And after watching the US Women's Figure Skating Championships last night, our only hope is Mirai Nagasu (the winner was a joke), but comparing Mirai to Kim Yu-na and Miki Ando, or Mao Asano, she's still got a ways to go. I think my fave skater of this generation is Kim Yu-na, I know one spectacular, unforgettable performance at the 2009 World's isn't enough to ensure she doesn't meltdown at the Olympics, but I don't think she will. She's got that fire, that intensity in her eyes, I *can't* wait to see the ladies take the ice in a month. Woo hoo! Sports fever is here!

At her best, I still think Mao Asano is the most technically talented (quad jumps, edge work) skater in the world. The problem, of course, is her Sasha-like inability to skate a program clean. And speaking of . . . I don't know what to say about Sasha. She does her program without falling, she would be going to the Olympics right now.
Joannie Rochette is a viable competitor to Kim Yu-na if Joannie does a clean program. She's cleared the 200 mark, meaning that she can possibly accrue enough points if Yu-na falls.
Kim Yu-na's going to have two audiences rooting for her. Not only her native South Korean, but the Canadian (i.e. Hongcouvah reprazent!) audiences. At this point, I don't even think the pressure will be a big factor for her. She's the mentally strongest figure skating athlete we've seen in years.

*sigh* I dunno y I still love Favre, I shouldn't, and I wish I can quit him. But my Laker fan gf can think Kobe Bryant is the bestest model for her 5 yo son, therefore, I can still fangirl Favre.

The bathroom in WUAS and HTK's bathroom does look similar! Thanks for the mention! I did a comparison on both (LOL) - based on JB's pic on her ep 6 recap, but there're still some differences - HTK's bathroom door was made from glass, WUAS bathroom had brown (wood i think) door. And WUAS has an added glass shield or sumthin at the shower place.
But it still gives that similar feel!
p/s Only after I posted I realised that I may not be talking about the same bathroom as you do. Is it? Which ep is that in WUAS?

Well, not to beat a dead weasel but last Open Thread, someone related a true story about a bear and some of his animal acquaintances.
A bear goes poo in the woods and notices that he sometimes smells after he is done. Other animals are like, ‘woah stinky dude, you ever think about bathing or something’ and the bear is like, ‘come on, i bathe, but i just don’t bathe like every 12 hours, so when i go poo in the woods, how can i help it?
A rabbit with with very clean white fur who is passing by overhears the conversation between the bear who goes poo in the woods and the other animals. This rabbit is uppity, prideful and a rather nosy one at that. The rabbit interjects, piping up, “HA! When I go poo, no poo sticks to MY fur!”
The other animals giggled and laughed at the poor bear.
So the bear picked up the rabbit and wiped.
****
As it so happens, I did a Google news search and cross-checked the results against a Lexis Nexis news search, and indeed, this bear is the same bear who had the above conversation with the weasel...

also like you, as a puma noona all over 2PM.. i'm super excited that Taec got cast in a drama.. i think his potential is much more than Khun (sorry.. it's just my personal opinion)... but i still recall that WildBunny couldn't be scripted because of the boys epic fail at acting.. that's why it became a "reality show".. so i'm cautiously optimistic about this.. but i'm also glad Taec is not the lead, cuz that's a lot for him to handle right off the bat..

Oh, that was me being snarky... with respect to people who demand things out of people who provide them for free.
At my law firm for Halloween, I put out a candy jar next to my office on the ledge of my secretary's desk the whole month of October. I buy the candy myself, I stock it with all sorts of stuff - mini-Reeses, Kit-Kats, M&M's, Snickers, Almond Joy and Mounds, Hershey's, etc. I've done it for 3-4 years now, and so ppl kinda expect it. The jar drains quickly and so it costs about $30 per week to keep it filled. I run down to Walmart each week to buy the big bags of candy so that I can keep it filled.
Last October, I forgot to pick up more candy on the weekend and so there was a few days when my candy jar was empty. And I got a few emails basically saying, "Yo, where the candy at" from people I didn't even know. And every year, a few people always email me and ask how come I don't buy this particular candy or how come I buy this candy... and I always think, "ummm, because I want to?"
I don't expect people to thank me, but I also don't expect people give me grief about what kind of candy I buy, and how come their favorite candy isn't in the jar (sometimes, it's because you came in the afternoon, and everybody takes all of the Reeses in the morning, and some people take handfuls at a time even tho that is also a little rude).
I'm not sure why, but there is something about giving stuff to people for free that makes them think that they deserve it, that they are entitled to it. I'm doing it as a bit of fun, to spread a little sugar-induced smiles around the office because law firms tend to be as fun as a library with a strict librarian, but there are people who don't give two whits why I am doing it, all they care about is "their" candy. Grr.
Anyway, so that's what the story was about. Weasels who want free stuff and don't care about what bears want, even bears who go poo in the woods. :D

Purely from an ICOMYM standpoint, I have no problem AT ALL with Taecyeon. ;-)
From a drama-lover's standpoint, of course I'd rather not have the quality of a drama compromised by less than stellar acting, especially when the other three leads are known for their above average skills. But I certainly won't let uncertainty stop me from watching, and I don't believe in condemning him before he's had a chance to show what he can do. Everybody has to start someplace, and it sounds like he's hit the jackpot with his first project!
I need to reread JB's article again to see if she mentioned this, but I wonder if he auditioned or if he was just offered the part. If it's the former, then he must have displayed enough ability that the producers thought he would bring something to the table. If it's the latter...well, fingers crossed.

ha, i do the exact same thing at work. One Halloween a few years back, I decided to start putting out a candy jar by my desk because our HR had told the employees that we weren't allowed to take candy from the receptionist desk anymore. I usually stock it with what I like (chocolate-type candies) because why would I buy something that is completely unappealing to me? At first, people were like 'oh yay! candy! can i take one?' And of course i say yes, because that's what it's there for. But soon enough, people started coming by and picking through it, asking if i had this and that and when i was going to refill it. Now, I typically have a big refill bag in my drawer and if I'm not super busy I will refill it in front of them and they have their pick of new items... but if you see me on the phone or working to meet a deadline, tapping me on the shoulder and asking me 'Hey, how come there aren't anymore kit kats??' will not get you one....
so samsooki - i feel your story even more now.

LOL.
Strange, for me it is always the Reese's.
I dislike the addition of chocolate to peanut butter (for the same reason, I dislike the addition of chocolate to pretzels... salty and sweet together at the same time??? pure madness!), and so I am not going to buy 100% Reese's. Not that I eat the candy I buy, but I like to fill the jar with stuff that I like.
Very rarely do I get a sweet tooth (i'm really more meat + potatoes + bread, rather than sweet - I'll take leftover steak from the fridge, shove it in between two pieces of bread, jam in some fries, cover it with ketchup and hotsauce, and I'm done with dinner), but if I do, I like Almond Joys, and so I always buy a bag of Almond Joys because it is also neat to see who else likes Almond Joys (nobody?? seriously?? COME ON... coconut + almond + chocolate!!!), but they are always the last to go, and so people will pop their head in and say something like, "you're out of Reese's."
Hey! There are plenty of Almond Joys! I might have Reeses in my drawer, but I'm not taking more out of the bag until the next day. Otherwise, people are forcing me to change the way I stock candy...
anyway, hjkomo taught me a new phrase today. LIG.
"let it go."

i find that keeping candy at my desk makes me not crave it as much since it's ALWAYS there... so i tend to eat less candy now that i see it everyday. i buy the variety bags from costco and i pretty much enjoy every kind in there (there's no crap in it lols), but definitely the more popular ones are the kit kats, reeses and snickers. i find that the almond joys do disappear as well. however, nobody seems to like m&ms.... but now i restock when i feel like it, and if people come by and don't find what they want, then too bad. it's outta my own pocket so i feel no sympathy for the moochers.

Ohh, this is quite intriguing, I hope it goes somewhere - and I totally believe this stems from Ariel Lin's stunning turn as Huang Rong in LoCH 2008.
Chen Qiao-en recently paid a personal visit to Louis Cha/Jing Yong and Ni Kuang to discuss collaborating on a project. Girlfriend must still be smarting from her Golden Bell loss to Ariel, and wanting to up her game. What better way for her to up it than a LC adaptation. As for Ni Kuang, unless Qiao-en is lobbying to play Bai Su, I'm not sure its a suitable project.
Too bad the final Zhang Ji-zhong LC remake is out already, Dragon Sabre and Heavenly Sword, because Chen Qiao-en is my FIRST choice for Zhao Min (who instead is being played by Ady An, which is weird casting, just totally weird - Ady playing both ZM and Fox Volant's Miao Ruo-lan).
Anyways, Qiao-en going for a wuxia is totally something I would check out, and I think it's a great career move for her, and what a challenge, I think she's kinda stuck in a rut.

BTW, little boy koala didn't much like your bear poo story, though he laughed when the bear wiped his poo with the rabbit. He wondered why the bear couldn't help out the weasel and get a few nuts for him from the tree?
I may have a moocher on my hands, seriously concerned now.....

@340,
I dunno. Almond Joy's just feel..... right. You know how, when you create the perfect mac and cheese, and the smell and the taste is just right? That's Almond Joy.
That's NOT Reese's.
@342,
hehe.
@344 ockoala, i see that Team MOB is lurking.
I wonder if Team MOB has an opinion on Sung Yuri??? o_O
Oh, I saw One Fine Day (with Gong Yoo) by the way, and together with HGD, Snow Queen and Swallow The Sun (halfway done), within a month or two, I should have a large enough body of work with which to battle those who oppose Sung Yuri's cuteness and acting ability.

Team MOB may want to off BORA, but I will gladly come out and break allegiance with Team MOB if the majority of the MOB wants to off Sung Yuri. Girl is someone I cannot harm, nope, I adore her. I've even watched (parts of) 1000 Yrs of Love and (all of) A Prince's First Love - just for her. Painful doesn't even describe it. One Fine Day was bearable because Gong Yoo and the nice second male lead was there to lessen the pain, which was unfortunately also increased due to the insufferable presence of Lee Yeon-hee's character.
I love her because she's Yi-nok, and she gave a shih-tzu to Kang Ji-hwan. *swoon*

Does a bear, who likes to poo in the woods,
also think it's a good idea (and not utterly futile) to beat a dead horse...over and over again?

@ mookie
Yup, Kim Yuna's skating is flawless and exquisite, artistry and technique. Mao Asano is not only an Asian-Sasha Cohen, she doesn't even have Sasha's grace, or bitchiness, so it's a no-go for me. Miki Ando - hmm, I'm on the fence about her, but if she lets out her inner bitch, then maybe she'll have a shot at the Olympics. US Women's is such a letdown, sigh, strange how the tides turn, and US Dancing has a chance to go 1-2, which has, like, NEVER happened before. Suck on it, Russians and slighty incestuous Frenchies!
Oh, and I LOVE watching Sasha meltdown, it's like, Championship season, watch Sasha win the short and fall on her bottom 50 times during the long program.
As for the Saints, like I said, to root against the Saints is only allowable if you are from Indiana. Otherwise, you're a total killjoy. I do like Peyton, but alas, must now board the hallelujeh bandwagon. Thinking of throwing a SB party....
