hey.. i didn't mean it that way.. i just think it'd be funnier if it happened to someone else other than myself... cuz once upon a time, for one longer handled lb_tmi, it happened on another forum where a real life person that knew said longer handle lb_tmi noticed her comments about said real life person.. and well.. longer handle lb_tmi no longer visits that forum. :D

the family's watching HOPE FOR HAITI, while mom is sitting here posting on DB. i got my priorities straight! lol.

@ ockoala

Never watched Attic Cat. But watched Last Scandal and loved it (cried buckets), and THEN CJS killed herself. I'm pretty sure I can't watch it again. Unless I WANT major catharsis and crying myself distraught. Otherwise, it would just break my heart. She was so loveable in Last Scandal and there are too many similarities with her real life (brave mother and victim of dastardly husband soldiering on as best she can - in one scenario making it, but in another, not), it would just kill me. It's funny, because I don't think I would have this problem with other actors who have taken their own lives (Heath Ledger). I think it's just because I was particularly emotionally invested in Last Scandal.

@ skelly

"The Crossbeams" is perfect for Daniel Henney and whatshername! It's quite interesting - I think because I don't understand Korean I often don't fully appreciate how very BAD some acting is. When K-actors break into English (even when fluent) the flaws become SO glaring (see abovementioned DH & co, and Han Ye Seul in Fantasy Couple)

@ langdon813 / Devil/Mawang

Was it you who has just watched Devil? Sorry if not - too much on OT to keep up with!
But whoever it was, what did you think? Good, no?

Your old geekie friend - you shouldn't be surprised. Geeks suffer hell in school, but eventually rule the world. That's my theory of why investment bankers, particularly derivatives traders, are such prima donnas - they are former-geeks who now rule the world and they can't get enough of it!

@ serendipity

I did watch The Devil and finished it last weekend, I thought it was fantastic. I'd stalled on it a few months ago but this time I couldn't watch it fast enough. I thought the ending was perfection. I also see what all the Uhm Tae-woong fuss is about, too.

I think the best place to ask is from RAKSO TRAVEL, in case you have not bought your tour package from them. RAKSO TRAVEL is the no.1 TA that handles tour to S. Korea in Manila, their tel no. 8129667. I booked a tour last oct 2008, the itinerary was Kdrama shooting places, take note they don't bring you to the actual shooting place of CP, they take you to a Coffee Prince franchise.

I hope this helps!! Enjoy Korea.

*Mild Devil/Mawang Spoilers!*

Glad you thought it was good! I was reflecting on the ending, and I feel it's actually quite satisfying. It's true to itself. A happily-ever-after ending would have been so dissonant. Knowing from early on that it had to end in tears, and given that it *was* a tragic ending, I thought it was quite a "good" one. Almost positive. In the sense that there was (sorta) closure and (kinda) redemption.

"Oh my. Just got another message from my former-nerd-turned-commando FB friend. OK, getting kinda weirded out now…yikes! :-("

I'm thinking of that scene in "Fargo" where Mike the old HS friend contacts Francis Mcdormand's character for a drink at a hotel and then proceeds to put the moves on an obviously pregnant Marge. Neither the fact that she has a bun in the oven or her rebuffs seem to deter him from putting the moves on her and giving her the sob story.

If only more men were like Steve Park and Steve Buscemi. There would be no single women. We can only hope right.

It's WAY too early to be getting the DVDs. They only closed preorders yesterday, having extended it twice. They are hovering around 4000 orders, last I heard, which is pretty huge for something like this (or so says a friend of mine in Japan) They certainly haven't gone to press with it yet.

AHA! Just checked the site..."The release of the limited preorder version of the director’s cut DVD is planned for 19th February 2010." So there you are.

I heard Madonna say she pees on her feet in the shower because urine contains urea which is a good skin softener. So don't worry about stepping on it, just think of it as foot lotion!

I would like to hear more of your cleaning tips. I find mops to be so unsanitary I'm always throwing mine away.

Really I think he is kind of sexy in a wet-skinny-rat kind of way.

Fargo and Raising Arizona are my favorite Coen brothers films. I just adore Frances Mcdormand. I can totally understand why Mike wanted to put the moves on her bun or no bun.

Erm...Imagine my surprise after reading the extensive discussion on toilet habits here, to open up Assorted Gems ep 18, and be hit almost immediately by Mr. Goong sitting on the toilet, on the phone, giving one of the most visually and audibly explicit performances I've ever seen in kdrama yet. I mean, this is gut busting hilarious!!! I just couldn't believe what I saw and heard and I had to rewind just to make sure I wasn't imagining it. But wow, you would NEVER see something like that in American TV. Hahaha!!!!

Ok, just had to share that. Still laughing. I love Assorted Gems! Thanks to Thundie and all who recommended it!

@4 gailT Not sure if this helps but there's a japanese anime Toradora! where the main guy's a compulsive clean freak who cleans the bathrooms obsessively with a toothbrush...

@ockoala RE: Last Scandal and Attic Cat.

Just my personal experience...

For me it's all about familiarity with the actor/actress. I held back from watching Last Scandal for a long time for the same reasons but in a rom-com drought I desperately needed something to watch, so I finally picked it up. Not having seen her in any dramas but knowing her sad story well, it was a little weird at first and I couldn't focus on the show. But once the story kicked in the initial awkwardness (right word??) disappeared. I enjoyed the show tremendously. I'm glad I got over my hesitation because she was really good in it. She, more than the lead, held my interest since I didn't find the male lead particularly droolworthy. I would go back to re-watch scenes. (Side note: had a nice long discussion/comparison with friend on the YB parody of press conference face reveal) Anyway, if I ever come across another Choi Jin Shil vehicle I will not hesitate anymore.

On the other hand, I had finished Coffee Prince right before Lee Eon passed away, and his character as the very adorable devoted boyfriend MinYeop was so captivating and sweet that to this day I hesitate to go back into watching CP because I still cannot stand the thought of seeing him...it's too painful. I can't watch anything else he's in either because all I'll see is MinYeop, and then it'll be sad again...

Ockoala,
That's true, "The Cutting Edge" is the best ice staking movie ever!!!!
DB Sweeney & Moria Kelly were totally cute. And the opposite attracts thing is really so cliche, but at the same time, their chemistry is insane.

Another movie that I watch over and over about once or twice in a year is ABC family's "This Time Around." It's about a girl getting revenge on the guy that humilated her in high school, and he actually falls in love with her later. I mean the plot is soooo old, and done many times already, but Brian Austin Green looks really handsome in here.

Also, two last tidbits--- I am soooo HOOKED on Wish Upon A Star. The heroine is so lovable. Also the first still from the movie "The Housemaid" (Lee Jung Jae, Jeon Do Yeon, Seo Woo) was released like two days ago. So Delish (as in the words of Dahee)!!

Really? Was an ice-pick involved? ;-)

Don't mind me, I'm just being a goofball, I know what you meant, but when the misspelling actually has a hilarious other meaning, you can't let that go without riffing on it once, right?

My embarrassing goof - I once typed ass instead of add in an email to a partner on a deal (and repeated the mistake multiple times in the same email), yes, I was a first year, and yes, it was past midnight, but I learned once and for all, spell check my emails for work!

As for DB, eh, you guys know what I mean (most of the time), I hope.

Oh, and I also really love what I've seen so far of Wish Upon A Star. No high expectations, but it's been quite touching and sweet.

A big Hello from HKG...
you guys are cracking me up again...topics ranges are sooo wide- from wierd weather to bathroom rules/habits...the guys sitting next to me was wondering why I kept holding my giggles; little did he know that I was reading about growdy socks and #1 and #2 ;)
Oh @Samsooki, I know you're my fav for a reason. I suffer from OCD ( I wash my hands on average 100+ times a day). The fact that my whole time here is in the hospital is fine with me-mandatory alcohol hand rinsing at all entrances and masks at all times!!! I never touch door handles( I either "butt in" or use the ever so ready kleenex to pull the handle) and Yes, I "purelled" my hand after I shake hands( IF ONLY I feel that I would trust your personal hygiene). So reading your cleaning "rituals" reminded me about myself. Clorox wipes are my fav.I have them EVERYWHERE...
Urine- yes, it's sterile, but to me it's still my bodily waste, so , no I will no use it as "lotion". I , too, prefer privacy and quiet...it's one of my very rare "alone" time. Besides, it's only a few minutes ( less than 5) and not like the rest of my family, who bring a STACK of reading materials and spend eternity in there. My motto is, do your business and leave ASAP...THE LIBRARY is the place for reading.

If all goes well with the current pace, my Mom should be discharged on Mon. My sister will come on Tues , and I can join you all for OT #120.
Miss you all very much...try to be healthy and stay safe (from the terrible weather)...cingdoc

I caught The Informant! too. I had no idea what it was going to be about, so I actually believed Mark Whitacre was a wholesome hero right at the start of the movie. Just look at the ! at the end of the title.
But it was definitely Fun!

I'm a day late! But it's been fun to catch up on the OT and read all the comments! My weekend plans entail some good Greek food (and baklava) since a good friend of mine has never had Greek and/or Mediterranean food and then we plan on watching The Happy Life w/JGS (much love to Thundie for this :) And maybe bake carrot cake from scratch...

On the drama watching front...I'm only watching two at the moment Assorted Gems and Chuno. Though I might start watching Wish Upon A Star since both JB's recaps and so many positive comments on the OT has me intrigued (and b/c of SDW too).

Anyone who's watching Yamato Nadeshiko Shinchi Henge/Perfect Girl Evolution/Wallflower is it any good? I'm not a big Kame fan but it seems like it'll be mindless fun?

@ockoala
So that's why Ethan Ruan wasn't getting lead roles. I loved him in Hana Kimi...but I thought it was so weird for him to go from 2nd lead in Green Forest My Home to a side character. Now it makes sense...

hilarious story about watching Taereung National Village.

"Only bad part…hubby walked by, saw LMK and had the NERVE to call him goofy-looking. I’m like “oh, he’s only the guy I’m going to leave you for one day, no big deal.”

He seemed oddly unconcerned. :-( "

i had not realized that LMK is in Taereung. ok, now must watch, also with a nod to Thundie's Top 10 list. Why is it that husbands never see how hot our "next guys" are? ^^ In 8 years of k-drama watching, the only actor my husband conceded was handsome is Lee Byung Hyun ("clearly a movie star"), which is like saying that water is wet.

Oh, same with my husband! LBH is the *only*, count it!, sole and solitary asian actor hubby has conceded is totally hot.

Of course, I refuse to show him JWS in AMTR and Daisy, but hubby was unimpressed with JWS in TGTBTW. Fine by me, the less he thinks these guys are a threat, the less grief I'm likely to get. He just makes fun of me. ;-)

have no fear ~~ i'll be there. LOL at insisting on such greetings at all airports. btw, it was wonderful arriving at Incheon Airport and realizing that the sliding frosted glass doors really do open exactly that way after you clear customs and that people are there with signs etc behind a metal gate waiting to greet arrivals. I'm not sure i can explain it, but after seeing that scene countless times on dramas, well.. there it was.

yowza. just moved up on to-watch list. so far, #1 on my k-drama swimmer list is JiSup in Misa. SJS really was a former swimmer, fab bod, and he was so achingly cool and hot keke in the scene where he rescues Yoon. what a scene. ::fantasies of trying to drown self to force SJS rescue::

@Langdon813 - don't you think that TNV is like a condensed Triple? Or rather Triple was an expanded TNV?

Too late now, but I see that tpsonline.org had auditions for 5-lines and under actors for Late Autumn; interesting to see what they were looking for. And a little more about the film at http://blog.seattlepi.com/thebigblog/archives/191131.asp (the PI being our local defunct newspaper, now online only, and Ballard being the Scandinavian part of town, at least originally.)

A Children's Story: The Bear And The Weasel.

A bear was walking along a forest path that mirrored a fast-moving steam. It was a relatively cool day, but the bear was well-furred and so he didn't mind the brisk temperatures.

Still, it was about to get a lot colder for the bear, because the bear was about to go fishing in the ice-cold stream. Now, if you don't know, bears don't fish like people with fishing poles! Bears fish by getting their paws wet right into a stream, spying a fish, and then either grabbing the fish with their big bear mouths as the fish leaps out of the water, or by pounding the fish with their huge bear paws, and then grabbing the fish as it is dazed.

And *ker-PLUNK!!* the bear splashed into the water!

It was COLD!

BRRR! said the bear. But the bear was a real trooper and stayed in the water.

A silvery fish leaped out of the water at that very moment and the bear reached out and grabbed it with his mouth! The bear then waded his way to the edge of the stream and put the flopping fish down on the riverbank. Huzzah! The bear's first fish of the day! It was time to catch more fish!

All afternoon, in the cold cold water, the bear tried to catch his food as the fish leapt out of the water, and then at the end of the day, the bear had 6 fishes! That was enough for dinner!

But when the bear got out of the water, he noticed a weasel sitting there. The weasel was very upset.

weasel: Of all food to get, why fish?? Fish are smelly and fishy. I like bird's eggs. It is unfair for you not to climb trees and get me my bird's eggs. I honestly dont get it.

bear: Excuse me?

weasel: I'm saying, you should spend your time climbing trees and dropping down nests so that I get to eat eggs, and not do what you want to!

The bear looked at the weasel for a long moment to gauge whether the weasel was serious or just joking. The weasel was serious.

And so the bear asked the weasel...

bear: Let me answer your question with a question of my own. When you poo, does the poo stick to your fur?

THE END.
