"Just curious whether this topical-ADD will last until Friday?"

As a wise sage once said "it's already been broughten"

OT Meat Market, .99 cents JGS wardrobes, prized husbands, Hippie Dolphins, ICOMYM Mascots, Cakebread white wine supremacy, cheap JIS fist-in-mouth acting potshots, Private school costs, Ireland/Scotland--same language, same country, clan loyalty, clan warfare, clan betrayals, Love story, korean melos, Weaksauce, special sauce, slave hunters, bounty hunters, Boba fetts, one Won Bin, Obi One Kanobi, My Lovely Patzzi who will be My Lovely Bones as declared by the TEAM MOB tribunal.

Looks like the inmates are out in full force in the OT Asylum

BTW how do you guys know the word Guido? None of my west coast friends know what that means and in one day I hear it twice from Ockoala and Belleza.

Trivia
What do you call a girl Guido?
ANSWER: Guidette

I only regret that I don't have another defense of Patzzi to give for Jang Nara.

:D

Hey, I might have lost, but we all had fun right? Hehe, my wife is like, "WHY do you do things like this?" LOL.

Okay, nite!

"Guido" reminded me of something. My youngest son (age 23) has the most dry sense of humor. He doesn't say a lot, but when he does, it's usually so funny you'll fall off your chair. Anyway, his friends started calling him "The Situation" right after Jersey Shores came out and it's so hysterical to me. His Facebook status only says "_________ ________ situation" based on whatever activity he might be engaged in at the time.

His status right now is "beer bowling situation". Yesterday's status was "bocce tournament situation".

:-D

Anyway, from work, using company's computer.

Just wanted to mention that I finally started on Chuno. Whoa! The abs. I finally and fully understood the meaning of chocholate abs(was this the name?). LOL!

Oooh, "Jo In Sung’s anti-Guido fist pump in mouth of sorrow) named Mookie, Ockoala and Belleza (TEAM MOB RECONIZE FOO’!!!) " - I've been selected to join the elite MOB. *claps hands in glee* I'm pretty bloodthirsty right now for the scent of bad acting. It doesn't even have to be Peter Ho-level epically bad acting. Just your run of the mill Barbie Hsu/Huang Xiao-ming/Jang Nara level bad acting is enough to quench my blood lust.

In one week, to have two pretty spectacular scenes in two dramas *nearly* derailed by the inability to emote from one key participant whilst the other is emoting his heart out, again, turns this koala into Amazing Hulk Smash.

So I'll take it out on Jang Nara - PATZZI MUST DIE!

@ nycgrl

I know many many words in my vocabulary, most of which I have no need to know (i.e Guido) but do simply because I've lived in the East Coast for a few years, in Europe and Asia for a few years, and generally procure most of my news from perezhilton.com - and if there is a new MTV trashy show, PZ will remind me of it.

Btw, bravura summary of every OT topic of import, and a belated congrats for sneaking in a mention that samsooki takes the short bus (to work).

@ langdon-unni

LOVE the homage to The Situation, your boy sounds like a stoically amazing catch, is he the one you are planning to bethroth to Ariel?

I may have to say, this OT was not 600 post-busting in size, but it nearly killed my entire day at work (its hard to focus on that agreement when I'm LMHO every few minutes), and provided so much humor I will be chuckling about it for week(s) at least.

@ pabo ceo reom

Nope, I don't have too much time on my hands. I do, however, spend it judiciously with friends I derive much pleasure and knowledge from.

Alas, Ariel's mother would have a stroke and die or go into a 3-humidifier coma at the thought of her hardworking daughter wanting to marry my youngest son, whose goal in life is to stay in school and mooch off mom and dad as long as humanly possible. He's changed his major twice which means he still has two years to go, and he works for a landscaper (which means he doesn't work at all in the winter). If my husband and I ever divorce it will be over this boy, because I'm ready to cut him off but his dad will let this go on until he's 35. I love him to death, he has so many good qualities...ambition just isn't one of them.

No, I want Ariel for my oldest (age 25). This one left university one class shy of his degree because the company he worked for since he was in high school made him an offer he couldn't refuse. They put him in their management program and he now has better benefits than my husband and I do, plus he already makes about three times what he would be making if he'd stayed in his chosen field (teaching). His only vice is that he'd rather spend his money on video games and such rather than, say, furniture. His apartment looks like he just moved in a week ago and he's been there a year.

And that's the story of the langdon babies. :-D

ahhh so much fun today!!@%%!%$! and I'm so freaking late.. but yeah MOB FTW!!! (can WonBin be in the same outift/makeup as OJH when we EVENTUALLY find him?! and hopefully he'll need a JH shower?!)

AnitaMui's wardrobe = Madonna's spiky bras = 80s guidette = I honestly have one collecting dust in my wardrobe for a halloween.

I went to say hi to those handful of sea lions back at Pier 39 today. they have the docks all by themselves to stretch out now...but somehow they don't seem as happy as when they have to play sardines and fight for their little piece of damp plank... I didnt see any hippie dolphins though (but then I have to admit the first time I saw dolphins off the coast of THE Pacific Ocean at Pacifica... I thought they were sharks... *hide*)

and gosh I just watched Hurt Locker. No offense Avatar lovers (I still havent seen the movie so I should shush...but) Hurt Locker = best movie

@ockoala: on our loverboy Yuan Hong and tweeting (OMGOMGOMGOMG!! *fanself*)
ok... I have to stop following his tweets, but he made one like this:
I don't really get everything he's saying... but the fact that he mentioned after the Globes he's more respect for Martin Scorcese... an old man who's given his whole life to movies than Avatar....and he can watch Okuribito + Hurt Locker in one go and quote Confucius. *SQUEEEE*

o don't be too worried with your youngest, true story:

my cousin fr hubby side is still in college and he's my age. Aunt and Uncle is going thro the exact same thing you and your hubby's going thro, but I have a not too appropriate big crush on him.

This cousin of mine, he took a year off and spent it building houses for Katrina victims, then he went to Sichuan to help built Project Hope schools http://www.china.org.cn/english/features/poverty/95783.htm after I've taken him to visit one in GuiZhou (China's poorest provence), now he's off to Haiti under World Vision.

He spent all his spare time as park rangers all over the country since high school. and whenever he's back home he'll bring back inner city kids and cook them dinner all the time.

And to me, he's a young hero I'll always look up to in my own family. :)

@ hjkomo,
o yes I did, my highsch gf's visiting... and we were having dinner at Gary Danko, and she's begging (and she just got a very nice pair of rainboots... girlsgirlsgirls) There's just like 20 of them max.. :(

"Hey, I might have lost, but we all had fun right? Hehe, my wife is like, “WHY do you do things like this?” LOL."

I hope this doesn't deter you from instigating the next clan fight. Please don't change your stripes and your eh unique taste. And thank you Mrs Samsookie for letting him "do things like this". Laughter is the best gift and the hardest thing to come by in a stress filled adult life. He has simultaneously reduced our stress level and then raised it back up for all the worker bees who are now freaking out with deadlines to meet (yours truly).

I think he has single handedly reduced the gross international productivity by .03% by instigating the Jang Nara posts or henceforth known as the My Lovely Patzzi Incident. Who can brag of that kind of power? Tiger Woods? Scott Brown? James Cameron? Nope its Samsookie the public defender of cute singer turned non-actors, thats who.

@ mookie-twin

Where have you been?!? Oh yeah, playing around the the fat lazy sea lions on Pier 39, instead of here engaging in the battle of the millenium, with a side of hippie dolphins.

Happy to be hunting PATZZI with you though. Avatar = dumbest movie I've seen all year, and yeah, the year is early and all, but I will go out on a limb here and say I'll still feel the same way on 12-31-2010. I should have seen it in 3-D, so at least I can tune out the bordering-on-parody Heart of Darkness lite story with some dazzling visual effect. Alas, I merely wanted to head-armrest myself *druing* the entire movie! And that's after I consumed an entire bottle of Malbec with my BBF right before the movie! As for the Hurt Locker, can't wait to catch it on DVD, I'm all out of my quota for movie nights.

Our loverboy - is cyberstalking against the law in China? If not, then I'm about to become his #2 cyberstalker (after you, m'lady). His tweets are funny, thoughtful, cute, and more often than not, quite cool.

So, the line from Confucious he quoted was thus: If you don't know life (living), you won't ever understand death. Okuritbito says: if you don't know death, you won't understand living, and this time I have given up on Confucious.

The rest of the tweet: the first caption in the Hurt Locker is not to be missed. In some respects, this profession (of mine) is like a drug, one taste and you are addicted. Powerful yet debilitating. I don't know whether I should be sad or celebratory, I suppose this is the last toy I'll ever have.

I FF through A Prince's Education (side note, aside from the masterpiece that is Duke and the Caldroun, and the drama version that starred Andy and Tony loving and hating each other - I actively avoid Qing Dynasty dramas - I dislike the period customes, I abhor 50 episodes of pure courtly intrigue and machinations, and for the most part, the epic lives of Emperors Kang-xi and Qiang-long I know well enough to heart), anyways, it's not my fave, I think Yuan Hong was a tad too restrained as Si-A-ge (the Fourth Prince, the future Emperor Qiang-long), and I didn't like his leading lady, and just wanted him to make out with Yang Mi for like all 50 episodes instead of the mudslinging those princes were engaging in.

Anyways, I've been seeing more blurps about Clothing World, and I am just dying here. Not remotely interested in Janine or the lifestory of this master weaver lady, just gimme more Tale of the Warrior General and the Princess who loves him! Apparently, Liu Shi-shi really does take revenge for loverboy kissing the bejesus out of her in LoCH, she's apparently going to *seduce him", wonder what that means. Anyways, until this comes out, I'm just going to watch patiently and keep cyberstalking him. Fun pastime, you know?

As for HXM - it sucks he's just coasting, I may find his acting mockworthy and even cringeworthy at times, he does have the screen presence, and with the right roles, he can really be nice to watch.

You ate at Gary Danko during the storm! My fave SF restaurant, they gave me a back pillow when I was 9 months pregnant and about to pop out my son and wanted to eat there and hubby indulged me. I'll always remember that nice service.

Watching episode 6 of Jejoongwon . . .

Madly in love with Jejoongwon. Honestly, I think I've done more actual sobbing through this show than anything I've seen in years. This is the most elegantly crafted show I've seen in a long, long time. The intimate, uncomplicated chemistry between everybody. The elegant, understated way in which emotionally difficult situations are allow to evolve and bubble to the surface. The beautiful, invisible camera work (the camera work here is genuinely masterful, full of people move in space and the winter air and the dry branches and the juxtaposition of muddy slaves and silk-wearing middle class) Also, somewhat like White Tower, there's marvelous tension in the medical scenes as well as the fighting scenes. Nothing is done for effect; rather, everything is invested in characterization.

@My Lovely Patzzi,

Honestly, I actually did like this show. There's just enough plot to do 10-12 episodes without filler and I was thankful they went that route.

In terms of Patzzi, it's a nice tweak in the fable and rom-com. Instead of getting a likeable female heroine (or a "realistic" ajumma), you get a psuedo female villain. Imagine doing a rom-com around YAB's UEE character and that's kinda what they went for here. Long live Alpha Bitches!!

As for Jang Nara, like I said before, we are claiming her as our own now. ;) But before that . . .

PATZZI MUST DIE!!!

@ockoala,

I'm intrigued with Qing dramas though... part is I'm not that into reading scholarly history growing up so my knowledge was random bits rooted fr all the dramas and stray novels spun half truths... my very first LC novel was The Book and the Sword and that *winkwink* on Emperor QianLong not being Manchurian but Han... and the Red Flower Clan = future HK mafias fascinated my 12 yo head. I'm not in the mood of A Prince’s Education yet... but I do wholeheartedly agree half shaved head +waist long braid makes d'PAMA sososo easy on the eyes..
haha and on more random Yuan Hong fangirling:
both him and LiuShiShi tweeted at the same time, talking about THE same thing a naughty damsel in distress scene fr Clothes where the patzzi princess set her own room on fire and our swoonworthy general was there to rescue. Shishi tweeted with her own pic in some messy junkfood filled room (NOT hers) that she's almost ready for the late filming... and over loverboy tweeted 'looking at that princess in front of her apple (her Mac), and me soon to make an entrance as a mighty firefighter, cant help to think if it'll be strategically better to just kill off the princess and call it a day!

lol so he's OUR boy, all into patzzi princess killing!

I may have lobotomized that period...but with all the Patzzi talk, I can't get my ewww off those hairs by the KXWs, really WAS it in vogue back then, or like ever?! I vaguely rem the whole asian blondie craze in the late 90s...

@Stephen Chow's brand of comedy ie 'Mo Lei Tau': first thing comes to mind is Seinfeld/ Arrested Development/ Curb your enthusiasm humor actually.

it can be interpreted as 'nonsense' or 'silly banter' and SC himself is happy to be taken on face value...in a way, he loves to hide behind the harmless silliness, since he wont be taken seriously ever anyways, he can really do WHATEVER and get away with it (he did a WHOLE movie with lines spiced in st cantonese vulgar: his Flirting Scholar 唐伯虎點秋香 required a HK boys' school education to interpret) all the highbrows won't get any of the puns anyways...and his humor r much more satirical and wry if we care to delve more, it always plays and works on multiple levels, but the essence of the 'mo lei tau' humor has to lie in the random, the unexpected. there's always a witty play on the HK cantonese/engrish language that can be put into context of a much grander scale than the scene or the movie itself if you choose to, but it's still some mindless fun if u decide to not think too much into it. For example, you really have to know your WKW by memory to enjoy fully a 90s SC. That scene in Kung Fu Soccer where the Shaolin Monks were performing... of coz not shaolin kung fu (at first) but singing their version of California Dreaming is a play on ChungKing express, teasing its random pretentious WKWness and a reoccuring awesomesauce pun SC cant live without.

say this is one of my fav scene in SC's From Beijing With Love/ 國產凌凌漆)
@ 3:21 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OBLcoEpAKM
SC's '007' is at some fancy dimsum place, he is eating a sweet tofu desert, enjoying a carefree banter with the waiter:

007: Waiter, isnt this sweet tofu your renowned dish?
waiter: yes, of coz
007: but it's stinky
waiter: yes, we're renowned for its stinkiness
007: can u bring us sth u r famous for and delish?
waiter: it'll be the same sweet tofu-fa
007: really?
waiter: if you change your stance, and treat it as eating stinky tofu, your experience will be vastly better. (all serious and nice and Taoist's wu wei)
[both shared a hearty lol]
007: give me a deep fried order then. (lol: sweet tofu cant be deep fried; stinking sweet tofu is soo not stinky tofu)

That line of 'if you change your stance, your experience will be vastly different' is quite philosophical, a jab at all the SC-antis, and a quip on PRC (the whole reoccuring theme of the movie) all in one funny bundle hiding behind the random silliness.

and OT 118 is dripping with 'Mo Lei Tau'ness that SC would wanna KILL PATTZI for:

if we lol'd at nycgrl's bravo blurb of OT 118, we GOT 'mo lei tau'

OT Meat Market, .99 cents JGS wardrobes, prized husbands, Hippie Dolphins, ICOMYM Mascots, Cakebread white wine supremacy, cheap JIS fist-in-mouth acting potshots, Private school costs, Ireland/Scotland–same language, same country, clan loyalty, clan warfare, clan betrayals, Love story, korean melos, Weaksauce, special sauce, slave hunters, bounty hunters, Boba fetts, one Won Bin, Obi One Kanobi, My Lovely Patzzi who will be My Lovely Bones as declared by the TEAM MOB tribunal.
(L!O!L!)

and to put it in visuals:
since I mentioned WKW, we can do by association a utube clip of Kimura and Andy Lau ON 2046, WKW, Tony Leung....:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3YKhWSdQ3Q
THEN we can enjoy a Kimura Gatsby CM montage:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApznPkhWatI
followed by a satire by a super famous HK comedian on Kimura's Gatsby (or GEI-SHI-BEE) (the vid is a pseudo public ad on a 'say no to cigarette' ie 'gai-shik-yin' spray
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFGqAKa0Mng&feature=related

any one of those vids is cute and/or hilarious, brung tog = mo-lei-tau

*sigh* Belleza, don't lure me into more jejoongwon.... it's so not fair throwing in White Tower now.... I can only do either Chuno OR JeJoongWon... *sigh*

Here's Jang Hyuk at his 2008 Tokyo fanmeeting, tap dancing and kinda doing a hula dance. Besides Windstruck, his flick with Lee Na Young "Please Teach Me English" was popular in Japan. Elvis is majorly featured in PTME. And so . . .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwcHKKRMgCM

And here's Jang Hyuk + Jeon Ji Hyun (honestly, I DO see Jang Hyuk as the male Jeon Ji Hyun -- both aren't actors so much as rock stars who cry a little) in Hey Girl

Yup, that's him rapping. He originally wanted to be a pop star.

Samsooki, I'll need to re-watch MLP but my memory tells me KRW got the girl. And I like Jang Nara in MLP (but not in the Success of the Bright Girl).

Why I caught up the latest OT only now because I indulged myself last and tonight in Ep 5 and 6 of both Wishing Upon A star and Pasta. Love both dearly. WUAS is like eating a warm bowl of wholesome ramen , whereas Pasta is like .... having a delightful long lunch with breezy jazz in the air. Ep 6 of Pasta is absolutely adorable and charming. Argh! So much OT to catch up with! I actually had to give full attention to work today, rats. And really need to go back to preparing for tomorrow right after I post this.

@ ockoala

Love Story - read the book, watched the film, couldn't stand both, but can't quite remember why, but I wasn't the target demographic so maybe that's why. Oh, wait a minute, it's coming back to me slowly... Sappy ear-worm of a song? Girl dying beautifully and sappily of incurable disease? Weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth? Oh, wait a minute, this seems awfully familiar. I don't remember any humidifiers, though...

@ langdon813

Ice Castles! Oooo! Now, there's a sappy love theme song I dig! (or, possibly, dug. Some passions of youth just should not be revisited.)

@ nycgrl

Not American, never heard of those terms (Guido etc.). You are really making me work the Urban Dictionary. Love it!

Ok, you guys can probably guess which shows I'm watching - but to prevent spoilage, I'll just get this off my chest.

What drugs are these people taking? Who in their right mind thinks that they can saunter into someone's life after 2,3 or 5 (FIVE people!!!) years, and that all will be hunky-dory, let's go back to playing house. Didn't they watch MNIKSS? Are they dumber than rocks?

Now to make matters worse, let's say the last thing you did when you saw this person that many years ago was well...evil. Not just dumping someone, not just leaving without a word, not going away to school and losing touch, but evil. What the hell are you thinking now?!

There are a couple of shows I'll give a pass to - MNIKSS, Lawyers of Korea, a few others, but seriously people!!!! Been there done, done that, bought the t-shirt.

In a related note, I now reflexively yell uncouth words at the screen when Honey Lee comes on the screen. Oh, and Alex is a cutie pie.

On another related note, Invincible Lee Pyung Kang - this is what My Fair Lady wanted to be, tried to be, and failed miserably at. Cute as a button. I am now also sniping at the screen when Ja Rak the third wheel comes on the screen. Fluffy as a kitten and cute.

In a last related note - I hereby call for a moratorium on time skips. I declare that City Hall PWNs time skips/flashbacks and therefore no other show can ever try a time skip EVER again.

There....got that off my chest. If something else occurs I'll be back.....

2010 offerings yet to come...

1. The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry (16-18 episodes, about a woman who still wants to marry, hehe, with Park Jin Hee and Kim Bum.)

2. What’s Up (16?? episodes, about love and relationships among students enrolled in the theatrical department of a university, with Team Park Kyu and Daesung of BigBang)

3. Pink Lipstick (daily drama…. might be over 100 episodes, seems to be the next Temptation of Wife)

4. Cinderella’s Sister (20 episodes, with Seo Woo ("Willliaaaaam") as the good girl, and Moon Geun Young as the evil step-sister, and maybe Jang Hyuk and Oh Ji Ho???)

5. Bad Guy (16 episodes, with Bi-Dam Must Die, who tries to take over a business empire by being a.... bad guy?)

6. Paradise Ranch (16 episodes, love triangle among 3 beautiful people, with some sort of chaebol intrigue, blah blah, set on Jeju Island)

7. Personal Taste (?? episodes, about a love pentagon between a pretending to be gay Lee Min Ho, probably 1 other guy that he has to be gay with, 1 lead woman, 1 crazy I won't let you go woman from the past, and Lee Min Ho's pama... how awesome would this have been if it was JJH and YEH.... this might have been my pick for best drama of 2010... and now, i'm not even sure if I want to see it...)

8. Life Is Beautiful (?? episodes, with the stoic semi evil guy from Cinderella Man, Song Chang-eui, and Nam Sang Mi, and probably having to do with marital issues, love and loss, set on Jeju Island - will they bump into people from Paradise Ranch?)

Of these, I am guessing that Personal Taste and Cinderella's Sister are must sees, but I am not seeing a strong contender for a :smash hit" among these.......lack of interesting story lines could doom 2010.

Glad I'm not the only one having strange emotional highs and lows - for me, the cause for alternating between blissful happiness (Chuno, more abs; WUAS, more heart) and an uncontrollable rage to throw my fist through my computer screen (sucktastic acting by a lead actor which thereby lowers awesome heart-to-heart scene down from 10++++ to merely an 8, blergh). I was feeling all bi-polar there for awhile. Drama-watching can induce that apparently. I'm so glad I really checked out of watching WISFC - the plot of that drama is enough to make me feel high-low over 50 times in one episode, too much for me to take.

Oh and I finally finished my j-drama of the moment - Otomen - all that goodwill this drama built up was *almost* derailed by the a terrible 2-part ending. 10 episodes of awesome, 2 episodes of suck! Oh well, still, it introduced me to Masaki Okada (cute! total Johnny's boy if I ever saw one), and made me guffaw a heck of a lot, which is good for blowing off steam. I should watch Nobuta wa Produce next, but I think I like Hotaru no Hikari the most of all the recent j-dramas I've seen.

Hmmm, too early to tell - but we can't all have win-win-wins all the time, right. 2009 to be was a great year overall, hopefully 2010 will be *just* as good and I'll be happy. ;-) Btw, nice, you use a Chinese-English dictionary, I'm impressed.

Nice! I'm so glad there are organized, efficient people in my life, not being especially so myself. Thanks samsooki! However...

On behalf of TEAM PARK KYU, I'd say What's Up has to be added to the must-see list.

On behalf of the ICOMYM Club, I'd say The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry has to be added to the must-see list.

On behalf of the ARMY OF BIDAM LOVERS, I'd say that Bad Guy has to be added to the must-see list (I don't know who Bidam is really, but I know that I must shout POOR BIDAM! whenever I see the name Kim Nam-gil).

For all of us lovers/youths of and during one of the golden-ages of HK cinema in the 1990s, this might just be the *one* movie we've been waiting for in the last tens years when nothing coming out of HK has interested me.

It's like a cross between Once Upon a Time in China with Iron Monkey, and some political intrigue of Lust/Caution without all the unnecessary sexing.

Trailer and background for Bodyguards and Assasins 十月围城 (featuring an all-star cast of Donnie Yen, Big Tony, Leon, Nicky, Simon, Eric and pretty much a wide-swath of who's who character actors in HK cinema) - story is about the attempted assasination of the Father of Modern China Sun Yat-sen at the dusk of the Qing Dynasty. Biggest movie in HK in 2009.

Official Trailer 1 - all action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vAq9h29dr0&NR=1
Official trailer 2 - some talking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf1l4KapO6I&feature=related

Trailer with setup and filming BTS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4LoghcTMXU&feature=related

Blurb: "5 hours, 13 blocks. To save a nation's future, they must protect one man from its past." 1905, City of Victoria (British Colony of Hong Kong) In the distance of thirteen blocks, the one man who holds a nations fate must survive relentless attempts on his life with only eight bodyguards to protect him"

I wish the agent of Nam Sang Mi would go absolutely crazy, a like a raving lunatic, and storm the offices of KBS, MBC and SBS, demanding that Nam Sang Mi be given good starring roles in the top tier, trendy dramas, and if not, he will strip naked and prance around the offices every single day until he is shot and killed as a wild animal.

I really don't get it. Nam Sang Mi is beautiful, talented, charismatic... give her the best roles! What's wrong with you guys!

GIVE HER A TRENDY DRAMA LEADING ROLE WITH 'A' LIST ACTORS AND A TOP PD!

thank you.

Man, I really need to win a powerball lottery. I would put my money where my mouth is, and I would aggressively pick up the talent I wanted.

I would hire myself as a scriptwriter, and then hire javabeans and dahee to crush my plans to give the comeback of a lifetime role of minmei to jang nara... and then I would make hundreds of millions of dollars in profit off of the korean drama, robotech.

With that profit, I would underwrite and produce my "KJH and Binnie In Space, Sci-Fi Revenge Kimchi Western also starring Lee Da Hae as Binnie's love interest and Nam Sang Mi as Binnie's sister who falls for the very evil but seductive KJH, who she doesn't know killed her and Binnie's parents (Binnie and NSM are bro-sis)." There would be no jar in the world big enough to hold all of the awesome sauce generated by such a drama project. Team Park Kyu would play a baby-faced assassin who plays the innocent guy but is really working at the behest of the evil KJH, and Seo Woo would play a lovable street urchin who makes her money by trading information for food.... and is hiding a secret that could bring down a galactic empire.

Which one got you Invincible Lee Pyung Kang, Gourmet or one of the earlier ones?

Cause I'm enjoying the daylights out of ILPK.

OTOH, that trailer for Bodyguards and Assassins nearly killed me 40 seconds in when they showed a 1911 pistol for a movie set in 1905....death by anachronism.

Clearly we are having the same kind of day.

Edited cause I cannot spellz

You could always do what every Korean parent does - put your hopes and dreams of everything you failed to accomplish in your own life into little Ji Hoonie's. J/K! :P
Don't you dare! Else, all his OT-aunties will come after you with torches, pitchforks, sabres, and muskets. ;)

@ momosan

I was enjoying ILPK, too...I just haven't had the chance to finish it. :(

Aigoo...running on empty...definitely need more than an hour and a half of sleep. :(

I love Nam Sang-mi, with each new drama of hers I see, I love her just a teensy-weensy bit more. @ momosan - I, too find Lee Pyung-kyang a fun, sweet, breezy drama, like you said, what MFL only wished it could have been. Problem is, its a tad too breezy, I don't feel much tension or danger, so it's just like a tad light. Again, that's what its suppose to be, but in the offerings available right now, I can't find time to fit it in. I've seen a few eps now that its on TV at night Mon-Tues in LA. What's-his-name playing Edward Schwartz, it's his best performance I've seen since his cringeworthy woodeness alongside Han Hyo-joo in Spring Waltz, where Daniel Henney was NOT the worst actor in the lot.

I would be willing to give you the Hippie Dolphin Production Company name and logo free and clear, in exchange for a guarantee that you will hire Lee Min-ki for a ridiculously huge amount of money and a lifetime contract (with the understanding that I'm part of the package). :-D

Deal??

i am willing you to win the powerball lottery. i want to see your drama. please proceed.

also, now i apparently need to pick up a bunch of upcoming dramas as well...

I hope Kim Bum has better luck in The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry than he did with Dream. He's too adorable to waste.

What's Up has both Team PK and Daesung? I am SO on board.

Besides 2 awesome ladies, Cinderella's Sister also has Chun Jung Myung - again, on board.

and lastly... Personal Taste as Lee Min Ho's follow-up to the crazy BOF? Excited to see what he has to offer :)

But can you believe it? I came up with Chuno (except for the set in space part) like so long before Chuno was even Chuno. How IRONIC that I am recapping a drama about a revenge sageuk about runaway slaves and murdered parents, etc., when THAT WAS MY IDEA LIKE ALMOST 8 months ago.

Here's what I wrote on May 6, 2009 http://www.dramabeans.com/2009/05/the-man-who-cant-get-married-script-reading-and-press-day/

I think the proper antidote would be a super high value, super high risk, record breaking budget, big names, Lucas Arts ILM style science fiction korean drama about a rugged orphan bounty hunter (Hyun Bin) and his lazy and good for nothing sister (Nam Sang Mi) who by betrayal are captured by slavers and sold to a wealthy family on a distant planet that is similar to Korea in the Joseon period. Hyun Bin sacrifices his freedom for his sister’s escape from the slave pens, but will the sister who can’t tie her own shoes get captured and if she doesn’t get captured, will she never return to save him? Can Hyun Bin escape his slavery, find his sister, and find the one who betrayed in him in the first place?

Little does the bounty hunter-turned slave (Hyun Bin) realize that the wealthy family’s son (Yoon Kye Sang) is the bad guy whom the bounty hunter has been searching for all his adult life, and more surprises await when the wealth family’s arrogant but decent hearted daughter (Lee Da Hae) begins to have feelings for Hyun Bin. And, far away, in a secret hiding place, Nam Sang Mi finds herself more and more in obligation to, and trusting (and even falling for???) a mysterious weapons trader Oh Ji Ho who helped her elude re-capture. In hiding, Lee Da Hae swears to herself to be stronger, more disciplined, and to awake her innate martial abilities, as she tries to win her brother’s freedom, not knowing that Oh Ji Ho is actually the evilest guy who betrayed his once blood brother Hyun Bin to the slavers in the first place to pay off his debts to Yoon Kye Sang….What will Oh Ji Ho do, once he realizes who Lee Da Hae’s brother really is?

jeez...

Chuno took all of my ideas....

*sob*

Now if I actually make my Binnie and KJH in Space Revenge Drama, then people will think, "oh, he's just copying Chuno."

No I'm NOT! Chuno copied me!

If I could feel shame, I would be mortified right now. It sucks when your real life family and/or friends know your onscreen username at DB, and then proceed to read what you wrote and let you know you are micheoseo.

Thank god the biggest meanie around thinks somehow I'm Kgrl (sorry Kgrl, don't want to disabuse him of that notion).

ockoala - just tell them that it's not really you - it was clearly me.

I specialize in mortifying my relatives. Niece, momo-chan (which is her actual nickname, btw - which is how I graduated to being a san) - if you are reading this, you know who you are! Read at your own risk!

Thanks for the cover, momosan. I shall surely use you, except my Japanese nickname is ajin-chan, and if I were to pick a Japanese nickname, they'd know it was a ruse. Did I mention half my relatives on my mom's side are Japanese, yup, four years of college Japanese later, I wish I used it more often because its almost all gone now, until i watch a j-drama and understand more than I realize.

So yeah, not ashamed - and yo, sister, you better delurk soon to join the Army of Bidam lovers! But then again, I got my sister to want to check out LoCH 2008, so it was all worth it. ;-)

@ samsooki

Word. My sister thinks that I personally know most of you in real life, and that we've been friends for *a long* time, she actually asked me that, and I was like "what'cha talking about, woman!" I guess the banter does feel like we've been at it for generations.

@ 453 Samsooki -

"Hey, I might have lost, but we all had fun right? Hehe, my wife is like, “WHY do you do things like this?” LOL."

Ha! I don't know you and I don't know Mrs Samsooki, but boy, can I ever hear this conversation loud and clear!

I'm glad you did do things that though... totally spiced up an otherwise rather dispiriting week!

This baby's going to crack 500, isn't it? Has an OT hit 500 before?

I'm completely behind on things--due to life and other pesky deadlines--but I want to say : please hire me at Hippie Dolphin Productions, can Robby Benson be in the Sci-Fi Space Revenge Epic?, and could I also have a patented Kim! Rae! Won! hug? (diff thread, but I'm getting confused here).

And also I just want to throw in that this week I've watched As Tears Go By (almost didn't recognize Andy L with his sweet chubby baby face) and Chungking Express this week (with my Takeshi Kaneshiro, who is MINE, see above), and Rouge (the immortally lovely Leslie Cheung). Intense but wow.

@Invincible Lee Pyung Gang,
i also find LPG cute, as light as it may be...
and what i like most about the drama is both of the men surrounding NSM are TALL!! (i like tall men :P), JHW is 185 cm tall, while SD 187 cm...
and i'm glad SDY had a short hair, his long hair from Spring Waltz is aweful, LOL

@494,

a few times we've hit 500 on open thread.

Once we topped 600: http://www.dramabeans.com/2009/12/open-thread-113/#comments

627 posts! I don't think we'll get there this week, unless javabeans starts claiming guys like gong yoo, lee minki and jang geun seok. if that happens, you will hear protests like never before, and we might reach 700 posts.

@momo,

no, LDH won't have a pet robot. or a pet rock. :D

300 out of those 627 posts came from belleza singularly attempting to call play-by-plays of all the end of the year station drama awards and the music awards. It was like she was at the Super Bowl of k-dramas! She should have charged for commercial breaks.

I doubt we'll have see those numbers again until the last week of December 2010.

re: Chuno - just one minor but starting to bug me element - I don't care how pretty and clean LDH looked when she started running, but by now, she's been dragged through mountains, streams, and even under a freaking hut/house. And she's still lily white! C'mon PD, you dressed the Ab-warriors in tatters and smeared shoe polish all over them, and they usually ride on horses! LDH and OJH has been running on foot, and one looks progressively more tired and raggedy (but still hot), and the other looks like she got her outfit pressed that morning.

Minor quibble - still love the pace and the chase, can't wait for the big three-way tomorrow (battle, that is).

@499, ockoala -

That reminds me of a story I heard. A bear goes poo in the woods and notices that he sometimes smells after he is done. Other animals are like, 'woah stinky dude, you ever think about bathing or something' and the bear is like, 'come on, i bathe, but i just don't bathe like every 12 hours, so when i go poo in the woods, how can i help it?

A rabbit who is passing by overhears the conversation between the bear who goes poo in the woods and the other animals. This rabbit is prideful and a rather nosy one at that, with very clean fur, sort of like a LDH rabbit. The rabbit pipes up, "HA! When I go poo, no poo sticks to MY fur!"

The other animals giggled and laughed at the poor bear.

So the bear picked up the rabbit and wiped.

:D True story, I swear!
