Happy OT Friday! And since I think I know how this day is gonna go, let me just state officially:
LEE MIN-KI = MINE, MINE, MINE ALL MINE!!!
I'm also staking a claim to Jang Hyuk.
That's it. I'm not too greedy. :-D

Just a quick question to you k-drama experts.
In How To Meet A Perfect Neighbor, the OTP was switched halfway through the show.
How did this happen? Did they look at fan reactions? Didn't the actors get upset? Does this happen often?
I'm curious because I just finished it and I don't see how it would have worked any other way, I don't see how the heroine would have ended up with anyone but who she ended up with (although the ending made me think that they were making it up to the main actor).
Trying to be as vague as possible for those who haven't seen it.

YAY! It's friday which means weekend!!!!! More holiday and monday is near.
I'm very excited for GOS. At first i really love Pasta but now i'm actually okay towards Pasta but i feel the fangirl in me for GOS, it's like the BOF time. The difference is that BOF is not a good drama but GOS is better so far, at least it pulled my heartstrings because the family problems and friendships conflicts is just so touching.
And i'm liking the vague romance "square" love between the four young leads, it's very interesting to watch.
Just wanted to ask, javabeans, will you continue the recaps for GOS or no?

Awww a bunch of my favorites have already been claimed! Fine, then I claim Kim RaeWon. <3
Also, I recently joined the WITHs2 subbing team after entertaining the idea for a while, and can I say.. fansubbing is REALLY hard work! It took me three days (two hours each day) to translate one episode. Not to mention the hour or so that it took me to go over the translation in editing mode. I have a newfound respect for fansubbers now and I'm really glad I can help out. :)
Did y'all hear? Kim MyungMin is headlining another drama called Giant. I think I read that it'll be an SBS one and it'll go for 50 episodes. Not quite sure about the premise yet, but wow, Kim MyungMin is such a workaholic. Gotta love him for that. :D
Oh and I am SOOOOOO excited to see Chun JungMyung again in Cinderella's Sister. I recently watched What's Up Fox for the first time and I fell in love with him. I'm glad I watched it recently so that I was spared from having to wait for him to get back from his military service, as selfish as that may sound. :P
Anywho, have a great day y'all!

hi javabeans,
its been a while since i started reading your blogs and recaps and it helped me alot to decide which kdrama to watch or to drop.
also, i have fun reading all the claims that you guys are making regarding the eye candies of kdrama land. even I would like to claim some of them (like goo yong, go soo, jung kyung ho and many others!), but i think its better to share, right? anyways as long as they do a great job in their own respective projects, it will always be fun to watch them!
to JB keep up the good work! hope you continue to recap God of Study and Chuno! im eyeing for these kdramas as of the moment!
thank you!!

after secured my claim let me share what had happened this week :
- am really really seriously obsessed with Assorted Gems. I keep thinking about possible plots in my head.
- Jakarta is so colddddd!!! Or my office's arrcon is so damn cold, to be exact. :P
- I'm at late stage of procrastination disease. The virus is taking over my blood. I can't say I've been productive since new year...TT__TT
- i was contemplating to upgrade my laptop OS from Vista to Windows 7, and after discussed it with the Toshiba's technician this afternoon, I decided to add more memory and reformat my laptop instead upgrading it.
- because of that, I'm officially broke. And this Wed, I'm going on a trip abroad with my best friend. So I'm really really broke! FML.

wow it's friday already! going to have a busy next few days with a conference I'm attending, but when I'm done, ep 5 of Pasta and Wish Upon a Star will be waiting for me! That's what's going to get me through it all!
As much as I'm addicted to Wish Upon a Star- i'm wondering why did the funeral happen so quickly? is it korean culture to hold the funeral within 1 to 3 days of the death? (my personal experience is that it takes abt a week) It seems like everything is rushed so that no one has even heard of Pal Gang's parents' death. I thought the car accident with the fire and everything would have made the news. It wasn't like they both had heart attacks. Anyways, I'm loving Pal Gang and her siblings. They're totally outshining the male characters.

Okay, good I'm here early. Now it's time to stake all my claims to the "children" who really aren't "children" to me since they actually all end up older than me. So here we go: I call Kim Bum, Jung Ilwoo... oh shoot, I'm forgetting people. No... too early in the morning... why does this have to happen to me?! I'll take Jung Yonghwa anyway, but he's not exactly in the same "mine" staking category as the others - I admire him more for his music skills anyway. Speaking of which, C.N.Blue's mini-album came out!!
Oh, I think I claimed Won Bin, although that's a little bit more questionable, since he is, er, difficult to "pin down."
And I am willing to share/fight for Jang Geunseok. I've had my eye on this child since Hwang Jini!!! LOL.
You know, lately I've been watching Kimchi Cheese Smile, and I have taken a liking to Lee Hyunjin... I like him so far, so I'll tentatively put a "mine" on him. LOL.
OH. And I claim Park Haejin. LOL.
I actually had a dream that Im Joohwan was in some fusion sageuk drama as was Seo Woo, and I was watching it with a greedy obsession (like me when I was watching Tamra the Island), except Im Joohwan's character wasn't Park Kyu at all, even though he was wearing the same clothes! I'm thinking I dreamt this because I was missing too much of Park Kyu and Beojin.
PERFECT GIRL EVOLUTION TODAY. TODAY!! *dies*

@evie,
When are you going to be there (summer summer or like spring summer), for how long, how many ppl are you going up there with (all of you, all the time together?), are you meeting up with people once you get there, how much free time do you have, do you have a tight budget, are you a foodie, what kinds of things do you like, are you more of a clubber or do you like museums and art and things like that, how much shopping do you intend to do, will you have a car or the ability to get around....
...to answer your question reasonably, we gotta narrow things down a bit. :)

White burgundy! My favorite is Meursault – the most well-balanced, imo. (I don’t like over-acidic whites, especially when they don’t have the body to hold it up.)
Forget over-oaked, no-bodied CA chardonnay….go with the folks that truly know how to make chardonnay – the French! :D
And how can anyone drink white wine with a steak?! o_O
Samsooki, an awesome Bordeaux is TEH AWESOMESAUCE when it comes to having steak. ;)

LOL who started the claiming trend here? Lemme join this greed-fest and claim:
Kim Jaejoong (still waiting for eng-subbed DVD of Heaven's Postman....)
Shim Chang Min (can't wait for Paradise Meadow!!)
Jang Geun Suk
Lee Hongki
And please let me rant here because I've held it in long enough:
In Chuno-related articles, please stop commenting on LDH's past with East of Eden. It's over and done with so bringing it up all the time is mean spirited because what does that have to do with her performance in Chuno? Also, what does her appearance have to do with anything? I hate it when people talk about how she's too pretty when dressed as a man in Chuno or how she looks too modern to be in Chuno (they subsequently said she should just "quit" the show. Argh!) First of all, it's not like LDH is the one in charge of her appearance on the show. If you want to blame anyone, blame the stylist unnie. Maybe the whole point is that she isn't supposed to look like a man so therefore she was found out and almost raped. Mmmkay? Secondly, how is LDH's look "too modern"? She has a very classically beautiful Asian/Korean face...very demure and elegant. I would say Lee Hyori has a very modern look but not LDH!
Okay, I'm calm now and will not rant again on this topic. Just had to get this off my chest.

red wine = not as good as white wine;
cakebread sauvignon blanc = best tasting white wine ever.
cakebread sauvignon blanc = better than everything else in this world, other than rutherford grill's cornbread (rutherford grill, in rutherford, ca, a sleepy little town in the heart of napa valley).
but cakebread sauvignon blanc + rutherford grill's cornbread.... well, just go ahead and die, because you won't get better food and drink for the rest of your life.

"Cakebread is a Napa Valley winery. I’ll say no more…
(actually, their whites aren’t too bad…)"
See, even you admit their whites aren't too bad - I like the SB better than the Char, but both work in pretty much any setting. Regardless, I agree, its a bit one-size-fits-all, but in a pinch, I'd grab the Cakebreak and I'm off.
I like my steaks with a nice bottle of Malbec as well. Though I've been known to eat two main courses and go with a French Burgundy.
Oh, and last night we had a Sauvignon Blanc, because we didn't have any red meat, so it worked.
Oh, and @ hjkomo-sis - I re-watched the last segment again (love, love that sequence from the temple down to the river), and it's So. So. Good. Fans myself, it's going to be so on like donkey kong from next episode onward.

yeah, Cakebread's sauvignon blanc is better than it's chardonnay.
It's what I call inoffensive...drinkable, but nothing worth storing in memory.
The interesting thing about Cakebread is that they grow their chardonnay on the valley floor, where most wineries grow their more profitable cabernet sauvignon.

@30 evie -
okay! now we can start -
Don't buy broadway tix ahead of time! When you get there, eat early one night and then walk up and down broadway near times square and you can score great seats from vendors who need to unload unsold but reserved seating for that night's show. I recommend Jersey Boys and if you haven't seen it, Wicked.
Honestly, I've lived in or been around NYC for like 20 years, and never have been to the empire state building or top of the rock hehe. I dislike touristy things like that. Only been the statue of liberty once when I was very little, but not since, and I used to live in an apartment in Brooklyn Heights that overlooked liberty island.
I can't recommend a bus tour, but there are plenty, and again, don't get it early - get it the day of, and you can haggle discounts right then and there.
For shopping, I recommend going to union square and around that area. I'll ask my wife's brother, who used to live there. Also, get to flushing if you can, and shop in the korean shopping malls. Waaaay more fun. Plus you get to eat in k-town when you are there. Bubble tea, korean bbq, soju to finish off your night, before going to karaoke! wow.... now i wanna go too... LOL. I've not done that for like 10 years!
Oh, and I recommend this for all who come - http://www.nyspacastle.com/eng/main/main.php
It's called Inspa World, and it is one crazy place. I've never been, unfortunately, but everyone who goes says its pretty cool and fun.... damn... what the HECK have I been doing all these years? I've done nothing but work and live... hehe.
Finally, if you have a free night - take the chinatown bus to MGM Grand Resort / Casino (the bus ride is like $10 roundtrip), in Foxwoods Casino. Gambling, casino shopping, spa, world class restaurants, shows, and then head back and sleep it off in the bus ride back.

This madness has gone on long enough. To those of who claiming Jang Geun Suk, don't make me come over and cut you 'cause I am willing to and will. JGS is totally mine -- I have even been trying to cast him in every moving picture project and for every cast everywhere. So, yeah, you've been warned.
I do think that we should try to restrict our claims to two men at any given time. Or, if we claim more, have some on a rotation-basis.
Watched first ep of CHUNO:
1. ...
2. Absolutely gorgeous cinematography
3. Thumbs up for Jang Hyuk's abs (and all the other male six packs)
4. High testosterone-filled ride
5. Found the lack of back stories -- a real back story, like in Iljame, etc., -- on the characters rather distancing. Maybe there will be more of that in the later episodes. Maybe I should not expect historical fiction to set up childhood stories? But I need something to engage with the time period because I don't have the necessary info to understand the significance of the various roles.
6. Excellent fight scenes
7. LDH is gorgeous, and LDH and JH are great actors and look good together.
8. Not sure why, but something about it felt missing...I am not sure what.
9. Seems to take itself a tad bit too seriously. But that could be just my misplaced gut reaction to how well produced it is
10. Motto of the show: If you have the abs, flaunt them.
11. Something to watch after it has aired.

Aw, I wish I had time to go down to Maryland, eat and hang out with you! But I'm going to have to stay in NYC the whole time, and miss out on my Boston and DC friends. :-( I wish I had more flexibility and time, sigh, two kids equals 20x the travel logistics nightmare.
@ mookie
I'm slighty cranky because I didn't get home from dinner until late, and then went to sleep earlier than usual because I had TWO parent/teacher conferences this morning (warning to samsooki: apparently, 2-3 year olds can be evaluated, geez they start the process so early these days), so I didn't get to finish LoCH 2008 like I intended!
Arrrgh, I'm dying for the added final confrontation between the sworn brothers GJ/YK (yeah, I know its not in the novel, but so is 1/3 of the story, so keep giving me teh awesomesauce, PD!) and then more goodness until I collapse into a satisfied heap on the ground.
The most random and funniest inside joke/throwaway line in the entire drama (also, not in the novel, but what the heck, so funny): In the Iron Spear Temple, Ouyang Feng is about to kill YK b/c he's done using him, and Huang Rong steps in front and threatens to kill herself (and her knowledge of the Nine Yin Manual which OYF wants) if he hurts YK. And OYF says with a snicker, "why, is it because you want to canoodle with him yourself?' and the look on both YK/HR's face is priceless! Like a mixture of disgust and curiosity and shock - omo, almost like they think "hey, why didn't I think of that before.....NO, NO, NO, reminder: we hate each other, we love stupid people." When you watch too much LC, you actually catch the inside jokes.

Happy Friday everyone. Can we please share? The guys I would love to claim as mine have all been claimed except Lee Seung Gi though I like him more as a singer/entertainer (1n2d) than a drama actor.
Anyone watching Lee Pyung Kang? I know it did badly in ratings and my husband says it's his least favorite drama among the ones I'm watching right now. So it lacks the makjang of Angel's Temptation, the intensity and action of Iris, and of course who could rival You're Beautiful, but I find LPK having some funny moments and for some odd reason, I keep wanting to watch more. Maybe it's because of all the 6 dramas I'm watching, this one is more light-hearted.
Ok, have to get to work. Everyone have a great weekend. I'll be watching the NFL Playoff.
