Hit film Jeon Woo Chi gets a manhwa series

Kang Dong-won‘s fantasy-hero film Jeon Woo Chi has had a strong box office performance, and at last count had sold 5.2 million tickets. Riding that success comes a manhwa series bearing the same name, which will be released in book form as well as via an online subscription service.

Although it’s not rare for a film or drama to be turned into a novel or manhwa, apparently this is a more unusual, as Jeon Woo Chi has been contracted for a three-season project. The first “season” will start being released through its online subscription service on January 25, and once each season has been completed, a book form will be published. Writing will be Lee Kyung-seok of manhwas Battle of Guitar and Zombie Time.

Given the fun, historical-action-magic fusion of the film, Jeon Woo Chi seems like a perfect project for a manhwa adaptation. Too bad the character doesn’t look terribly similar to Kang Dong-won, but I suppose we can’t all be Yonsama, can we?

I really wanna see this movie!!! I hope it`ll show in my country...And i don`t know about manhwa, but i think this would make an interesting kdrama series!

I just discovered the Duelist movie the other day. I temporarily went insane at the hottness that was Kang Dong-won so naturally I'm dying to see Jeon Woo Chi!

As I'm also an anime/manga/manhwa fan, i'd be interested to read this if scanlation groups translate it or if it gets licensed in English. :)

I thought this movie was well done, entertaining and funny even if I didn't understand everything 100%. The special effects were very good too. I'm very excited for the manhwa series! I hope it'll go more indepth with the characters' background stories and such.

lol the character doesn't really look like kang dong won, but maybe in a better picture XD
