Hero star watches finale with fans

MBC’s Hero is ending tomorrow, and its star Lee Jun-ki is marking the event by watching the finale with fans in a special screening.

This event will host 300 members of his official fan club and be held on January 14 in Seoul’s Kangnam Samsung-dong Megabox theater. In addition to the last episode, attendees will watch highlights from the series, video messages sent from the cast, NGs and the like. Following this screening, Lee will head to Japan for another Hero-related event on January 16.

While the drama never caught on with the public — Hero‘s ratings have hovered between 4%-6% and today’s penultimate episode brought in a 4.7% — it has a core set of loyal fans and has been praised as a well-acted and solid drama. It had some bad luck by going up against blockbusters — IRIS, then Chuno — but personally I don’t think it would have been a mainstream hit even with a better timeslot. Having watched several early episodes, I thought it had appeal, but its tone and material keep it at the mania level.

You've had a good run LJK (well, in my eyes). Though it wasn't a ratings topper, there were some interesting moments.I wasn't really a fan before but now, I'm looking forward to his next project.

I am not a Lee Jun Ki fan, but I feel bad for him. But hey, he's a good actor so I am sure he'll have no problems getting other offers. Wish him better luck in his next project.....

i agree with you that eventhough Hero wasn't on-air against IRIS.. it wont be a big hit anyway.. i'm one of Junki fan and i watch Hero from the 1st episode til yesterday. The great thing in Hero is acting but other factors are lacked which need long typing to describe its flaw. Anyway, i don't think this drama is a mistake of junki and it seems he enjoy shooting . Hero was overlooked by most viewers but i think it's really worth to watch.

The worst thing in Hero which i'm not satisfied the most is... its tone changed from comedy to a VERY VERY serious drama..didn't they promote it's a COMEDY?,,, sigh

It seems like only yesterday when I first heard about Hero. Now..it's done.
I dont think theres anything to blame for the low viewship except that w/ the competition from all the other dramas, it was going to need A LOT to stand on its own.
I'm not a LJK fan myself, but I think he should go back to movies. I did watch the clown and the king (?) n i personally thought that was a really good environment for him.

I feel like LJK's just going through a cycle of bad luck, but ever since his big break doing the King and the Clown, he hasn't really been in dramas that have furthered him much. Seems like he's still sort of on page 1. I love LJK and, of course, I wish him luck.

It's so true that Hero sort of got lost in the fray...

@A, i do think he's getting better after King and the Clown. I loved him in Time between dog and wolf, and even enjoyed watching him be the goofy yongi in Iljimae. Although he tends to overact on some scenes, he has improved quite a lot.

It's just a little sad that the last (?) project before he does his military service is Hero. Are there news of any other project?

I did have some expectations on the drama before it was broadcast and have been watching till now. At first, the story is quite interesting and LJK acted very well. But as the story goes on, I think it is becoming less interesting, but as a support to LJK (though I am not his fan, but since he acted so well, I decided to support him), I still continue to watch the drama. When the drama approached its end last week, it became more interesting again. I will definitely complete this drama this week.

I think i like his project after King and Clown. That Movie made him a rising star in Korea but he continues to improve himself in many dramas and gain popularity in domestic and overseas by Time between dog and wolf & iljimae...especially Iljimae, he has more fans and supporters and i do think this 2 projects proved that " HE CAN ACT" and got praising from viewers.

For Hero, i can't say it's a huge great drama like other drams in 2009. But it's not bad and has its charm.. at least he act well again and fans doesn't disappointed with that point.
