I think I'll check it out since I really loved Kim Soo Hyun in Will it Snow for Christmas? despite his short appearance. He completely captured me. Thank you for this article. I think it gave me the push I needed to see it.

I just finished watching it and it is disgustingly good. I think i finished my kleenex box. It is heart-wrenching but still warm and beautiful. No other show has managed to rip my heart so much as this show in the last year. I think this is the best show of last year. And Choi min soo is really really good. Javabeans is right. I have never seen him act before but based in this drama alone, the best korean actor i have ever seen. I would really really recommend it. Watch it

this is the first time i commented on this site but i have been religiously following this site ever since my drama watching says started. i just finished watching and i cried through the whole thing it was so amazingly acted and i felt like the characters were so believable. i highly recommend it. one of my favorites of the year. it really is a hidden gem. i'm only 16 so i don't know if my opinion counts for anything but to me it was really good. worth watching, really ;)

i loved this special. a few problems i had were with the story. the story wasn't tight enough for my taste. i felt that the last part of the plot was really weak. the acting was superb however. Kim Suhyun is going to go really far. I have never watched Choi Minsoo, but he didn't seem to have any reservations about playing an ahjusshi. The grandparents are also acting veterans, so the family atmosphere at the first meal they've had together in 11 years felt natural, comedic, and downright heartbreaking. They were laughing to not cry. The mother is played by the beautiful Moon Junghee who also acted in Empress Cheonchu as the empress of Cheonchu's emperor brother. When she says, "My baby," I could really feel her heartbreak. I hope I didn't give away too many details or spoilers. This drama could have been so much better if there had been tighter directing, better story line for the last part of the plot, and OMG the music!!!!! Better music and I would have been bawling from the first few minutes.

I would be willing to recap this drama with picture stills.

In my years of watching dramas, adding plot conflicts such as disability and gang involvement on already-tragic-conditions usually deters the quality and adds a cheesiness to the drama (Writers Brainstorming Session: Not only is he dirt poor, let's make him crippled as well. Insert pity). Despite the prevalence of these scenarios in Father's House, the acting ability among the cast, especially Choi Min-soo's, made me believe in the story; it enhanced the reality of what it entails to sacrifice everything for your child (or any loved one), albeit the extreme circumstances. This drama made me connect with the characters, and in its final scene, I experienced a catharsis, an element commonly lacking in many "melodramatic" dramas of these previous few years (I'm still waiting WISFC).

Personally, I enjoyed Kim Soo-hyun's performance more in WISFC than in Father's House. However, his portrayal of Jae-il definitely proved his potential as an upcoming Korean star actor.

actually, i think the grandpa was man-ho's (choi's character) real dad, not just a father figure. man-ho grew up hating his dad (i guess for not taking care of his ill mom?) so he didn't want to be a father for fear that his own son will grow up hating him. and it wasn't just a one-night stand, but they were lovers. and man-ho was always a stunt man (he didn't become one after his son was born). that's how he and jae-il's mom met.

Just saw this drama yesterday and I loved it. The story itself is a bit cliche (with the gang involvement and all the povetry) and the ending felt a bit rushed to me, but the acting really moves it up to another level, especially by Choi Min-soo. I would've liked to see more of Kim Soo-hyun though, that guy has got a lot of potential and I hope to see him in more roles soon.

Their acting is excellent, but the ending is somehow not satisfactory to me. so sad, why did the son end up with a gang then make things terrible...

Kim soo hyun was very impressive in WISFC and this is no surprise he got a project where he can once again demonstrate his acting potential! So happy for this young actor! I won't be surprised if he gets more offer soon after this one!

I've been searched this movie for some long time already without success. I don't know why I can't find it here in Jakarta. Soo. Sad. But I won't give up searching. Just wish me luck so I can find it.

Fabulous drama. Incredible acting.Nothing fast,nothing fancy. I also wish we had a little more background history,but in the end what matters most is the interactions between all the people involved.

Kim Soo was totally impressive. I can understand why he is a hot commodity these days.
Choi Min Soo is fabulous.All the actors were .Mostly veterans. It was fun to see Kim Sung Oh in the role of Steve...
I would highly recommend this movie,be prepared for some real sadness....
