Chuno breaks 30% in its second week

Looks like it’s going to be a huge sensation: KBS’s Chuno just aired its fourth episode, and already it has passed the 30% ratings threshold. According to TNS Media numbers, Chuno pulled in a 30.8%, up against Will It Snow For Christmas, which has returned to its IRIS-era numbers with a 11.5%. MBC’s finale episode of Hero went out quietly with a 4.7%.

(Ever greedy, the press is now expecting Chuno to break the 40% mark as the story really gets going. Not that it’s an impossible task, but these days, a drama can’t even enjoy its current achievement without everything jumping to the next expectation.)

A new contender will join the fray next week when MBC’s The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry will premiere. One factor working in its favor is that it’s a completely different genre, centering around three modern career women, but it’ll be hard to make a dent in Chuno‘s stronghold if it keeps up its level of visual quality, acting, and quick-paced storytelling.

Does anyone know who the actual "ultimate" love interest is for Lee Dae Hae? *pets Jang Hyuk* Some of the news on it has me a little confused and now that I've seen two of the episodes I am even more so.

Yeah, many of the support cast of Daemang (Great Ambition) are now famous actors in S. Korea - Jo Hyun Jae (Love Letter, Seo Dong Yo, 3Dads 1Mom), Jang Geun Suk (You're Beautiful), Lee Yo Won (Queen Seon Dok), Son Ye Jin, Han Jae Suk (All About Eve).
Han Jae Suk scary as the bad brother, Jang Geun Suk cute as the young Han Jae Suk, Lee Yo Won wooden (as always), Jang Hyuk very endearing (love the way he took the Prince Regent - played by a very young Jo Hyun Jae - under his wing). But the 2 characters who stood out in the drama IMO are Jo Hyun Jae and Son Ye Jin.
I so wanted Son Ye Jin's character Dong Hee to end up with Jang Hyuk's character because she's a better match to the sometimes playful sometimes serious Jae Young (Jang Hyuk) than the lifeless/wooden Yeo Jin (Lee Yo Won).
Jo Hyun Jae as the Prince Regent is the most endearing Prince in Korean sageuk I have ever seen. His and Jang Hyuk's bromance (hehehe) is something to watch.
I had more fun watching Jang Hyuk with Jo Hyun Jae, than Jang Hyuk with Lee Yo Won.
Anyway, back to Chuno - congrats to the Chuno cast. Love the 3 leads Jang Hyuk, Lee Da Hae and Oh Ji Ho. All of them have their own strengths and weaknesses as actors, but am glad that in this drama their strengths are being shown more than their weaknesses. Good luck to the rest of the series.
