Joo Ji-hoon closes homepage and fan club

In preparation for his impending army enlistment, actor Joo Ji-hoon has announced that he is shutting down his homepage and refunding members of his official fan club for the remainder of time covered under their club dues.

The Devil and Antique Bakery actor has been living in seclusion at home ever since completing his court-ordered 120 hours of community service in August. This follows the May indictment he faced after being charged for drug use in April. He was given a suspended sentence of six months of jail time pending one year of probation (meaning, if he completes probation successfully, the jail time would be erased). Actress Yoon Seol-hee faced stiffer punishment for smuggling ecstasy and ketamine into the country from Japan, as did model Yeh Hak-young for financing the operations.

According to Joo Ji-hoon’s management, Yeoubeak Entertainment, his homepage will be shut down on December 1. Although he had thought to enlist by the end of the year, he has not yet received his papers so the date isn’t finalized. Apparently there is a waiting list for enlistees, with 1981-ers being processed first as this is their last year to enlist. Joo, born in 1982, technically must enlist by the end of next year, so he may be pushed back and find his enlistment scheduled for January.

Before the scandal broke, Joo was preparing his next acting project, but his future career prospects remain hazy at the moment. Through his homepage, Joo wrote to fans, “With my mistake, I hurt others and left without being able to show a proud and upright image. Rather than showing you my back, I promise that someday I will face you straightforwardly.”

@44-

wow I really hope you're not living in The United States. There is nothing wrong with us "americans" expressing our opinion of this situation. If something doesn't make sense to us then we voice it, as i'm sure you are doing. by doing so, does not mean we feel our opinions are better than anyone. Regarding the drug use, I don't believe I would see it any differently if I was from Asia or anywhere else. It is my sole opinion. How can someone be arrested for having done drugs in the past? Was it witnessed by the police? So if I was a drug dealer and I said " so and so used it, would they all get arrested base on my allegation? Because if that is so, then I'll for sure give the police a list of all the people i hate. So for ji-hoon to even admit to it, I felt was stupid. Whats even more dumb is if he were to deny it and yet still get prosecuted base on the drug dealer's allegations. But he did admit it, and so I applauded him for his stupidity yet honesty.

so really, get over your bias with America.

It is good to voice one opinion but to do that just because "it does not make sense to me" is not a strong reason for the conviction of the need for saying what you think. Voicing one's opinion is good but voicing one's opinion carefully with restraint, thought & a little research (if need be) is even better.

I would think that a lot of the things that Americans do, would not make sense to people from Asia, Africa etc etc etc....which means everybody in the world would have an opinion about the US...which I believe at times will irk you as you have shown with your parting sentence....no?

How about just relax, google "culture relativism" & "meet the natives" (UK and/or US) & try practicing what you've learnt? Seeing drug use in Korea according to how Koreans see it would be a good start in my opinion.

In the same breathe, everybody here, just like yo.u have an opinion about this & each of us have our own "hard-wired" biasness about things.

The 44th poster was just trying to point that out so no need to get so worked up about it...at least she tried (as her post shows) that she has tried putting aside her biasness.....

no thank you. God gave me a brain to think and a mouth to speak. I believe most people are on here for entertainment purposes, not to be educated by strangers they don't know. So if you feel the need to lecture, please do it else where. I'm sure you'll do well, you sound intelligent enough.

JJH,

people do sometimes fall in different ways and experiences. the most important thing is how to stand and make a correction. this incident will help you to keep human and humble. there are things in our lives that we deeply feel regret but it is a part of our lives to grow. Keep shining !

My prince, people make mistake. The important thing is that you realize your mistake and try hard to make it right. You're not alone. You're a great actor. And I love you. My pray is always for your best... Hope to see you soon.

i was a US college grad in the nineties. I was once tried out some drugs, after taken some,I felt so agitated and excited and so I dared not taking it anymore. That was the time when I was in the US and studied. I did it mainly out of curiosity. The main point is JiHoon must understand what he was doing and the consequences of such acts. some countries (US), do not have a strict ruler upon this matter, but most asian countries do takes this matter seriously as going into jail & etc. I'm from southeast asia.
I believe my country will condemn me as well. Thinking of emigrate !! too serious a matter!!
I wish JiHoon all the best, one 's hardship only endure by one ownself. Prince Shin will overcome all these hardship and heading to a bright future and let us drown in your drama series again !!!!!!!!!!! :)

I loved him since I laid eyes on him 7 years ago when Princess hours was pretty big here in Manila. Now that it's being shown again, my love for him awaken like I was still in college. What happened to him is just normal with stars like him who sky rocketed to fame after playing lead role in a drama or movie and just doesn't know how to handle it then end up with bad influences. Who are we to judge? I will love him and will support him all the way. Welcome back my prince.
