Lee Beom-soo kicks butt as Hong Gil Dong’s descendant

As previously mentioned, Lee Beom-soo and Lee Shi-young are starring in a new movie featuring Lee as a descendant of Joseon hero Hong Gil Dong in a movie called, aptly, Hong Gil Dong’s Descendants [홍길동의 후예]. While Hong Gil Dong is a 15th-century figure, the movie features his modern-day descendant who carries on the legacy of crime-fighting, while maintaining a cover as an average high school teacher as his day job.
These photos show some of the action filmed in Hanam, Kyunggi province, on September 9 when the film production held an open set day for reporters.
Despite his mild-mannered appearance, Lee Beom-soo is no stranger to baring his physique, and had to once again work on his body for this film, as well as training with martial arts, watching his diet, and weight training. He explained, “There was a scene in the script where I undress. When actors see those scenes, we get nervous. Reading the script, I figured I would have to work on my physique. If Hong Gil Dong were to undress and his body looked odd, it would come off slapstick.”
Lee Shi-young plays his love interest, a fellow teacher who remains in the dark about his alter ego. Kim Su-ro is his Lex Luthor-like nemesis. In the scenes shot on the open set day, she is kidnapped by gangsters who work for Kim Su-ro; Lee Beom-soo follows the getaway car and fights off her captors.
The film began shooting on July 31 and plans to release later this year.

LBS's sculpted body again...I still remember laughing so hard while reading that old post and being caught staring at him half-nekkid by my hubby.

lol I still can not see how they can be Hong Gil Dong’s Descendants when they all die before they had any children, but for the old guy and the young lad, but as I hated that ending, what does fact based off a fantasy tv show matter ..:-)
{well he was a bit of lad..maybe they Hong Gil Dong’s Descendants born on the wrong side of the blanket so to speak}
The lead guy ears..they look like lethal weapon on their own...:-)
ow i see checked the linked post...they just the film Hong Gil Dong’s Descendants nothing to do with the TV show..well other than cashing in on the tv show to make a film..nothing new in that happens all the time.

The way that he's carrying the girl in the 2nd pic looks awkward, kinda like she's heavy or maybe she's not limp enough. It looks like she's hanging on with her other arm...

@bjharm, the Hong Gil Dong story pre-dates the TV drama. It's a famous folk tale, so the KBS drama is only one version of the story. This movie is based on the original premise, not that specific version.

This won't be on my 'watch out for' list since the guy looks too old for the girl.

Yes thanks Javabeans..it just that the TV show would be at the forefront of most peoples minds..I doubt Very much that without the TV show the film would have been made. Perhaps it being, like robinhood is in western countries, a film about Hong Gil Dong in korea would not be at once linked to the tv sieries as it is for us outside the country.

If the lead guy is as hot as Won Bin, I would put this in my "watch out for" list. But daym, as much as he's talented he's ugly! and Soo Ro too! Well, Soo Ro doesn't matter since he's the antagonist, but couldn't they at least cast a better looking male lead.
