Kim Kang-woo to hold first Japanese fanmeeting
by javabeans
I frigging love Kim Kang-woo (Chae Do-woo rules the universe), so I love hearing that his profile is rising; he is currently busy preparing for his very first fanmeeting in Japan, which will take place on October 18. Kim has played parts in some very successful films (Silimido and Le Grand Chef were both heavy-hitters at the box office), and his star continues to rise with his latest drama, (the very awesome) Story of a Man (aka The Slingshot).
It’s mostly thanks to Story of a Man, which enjoyed a Japanese television broadcast, that there is such interest in this fanmeeting. Also, apparently on the agenda for the event is a display of Kim Kang-woo’s hitherto unknown singing skills. (Performing songs at fanmeetings is a common event, but nobody’s ever heard Kim singing before.) In fact, he is even now receiving vocal training lessons in preparation for the performance. Fans who attend the event will be given a gift of a mini album, which also contains photographs he has taken.
Kim Kang-woo said, “In the past, I haven’t had much time to communicate with fans because I’ve been busy working, but I’m extremely pleased to have the chance to spend this time at the fanmeeting. I feel nervous to stand onstage and meet my Japanese fans officially, but also look forward to seeing how it will turn out.”

Ahhh, the lucky Japanese fans get a dose of Kim Kang-woo hotness! This man is so fine, so sexy! I'm glad too that his profile is rising - he's such a good actor and deserves to get good projects! I wonder if he's got any upcoming dramas?

Why does Japan always get the Korean actors to come to them. Not fair! They should visit America at least once! The Asian TV networks need to start airing more Korean dramas!

No offense, but Kim Kang Woo just comes off as Kwon Sang-Woo knockoff. from the chiseled looks and wooden acting (okay, i'll give you story of a man. BUT have you seen him in marine boy? beast and the beauty? he is KSW minus the charisma, and thats saying something).

Recently watched Kim Kang-Woo in Le Grand Chef and it really took me by suprise that this was the same actor who played Chae Do-woo!
While I have only watched a tiny bit of Story of a Man (aka The Slingshot) - will get to it soon!) from the awesome JB recaps (and screencaps) it was like a completely different person.
Am impressed that he could play sweet and caring (Le Grand Chef) and pyscho Chae Do-Woo both so convincingly. Impresssive (and hot) actor!!

#6 MrIrrelevent,
while I have to agree that Kim Kang Woo is like an exact replica of Kwon Sang Woo, I don't have anything to say about your comment. I have only seen him in Story of a Man as Do Woo, and he was absolutely amazing on this series, as he played his part really well. As much as I'd like to defend him on this comment of yours, I can't as I have not seen his other works.
But this I gotta say: I'm happy that he is now more well-known. I wonder how SoaM did in Japan? I'm sure they appreciated that drama more than the Korean audience, as they have a wider outlook on Korean dramas, as seen on their doramas.

"I dont think i heard him sing either….mmm…."
actually he started out as a singer. he was with 4-member boy group called "The Guardians" together with Jo Hyun Jae. Check out their videos in youtube, but when you search it make sure to include JHJ's name as most videos by the boys are all loaded by JHJ's fans.
