First fight between Chuno’s master and slave
by javabeans
Is Chuno looking better and better or what? The Joseon-era-set KBS drama, also translated Pursuing Slaves, has released its latest round of stills featuring its nobleman (Jang Hyuk) in pursuit of his escaped slave (Oh Ji-ho). These scenes were filmed on a two-day shoot over September 19 and 20 in Haenam, Jeonnam. They depict the two men in their first confrontation after Oh’s flight, which culminates in “explosive action.”
I think Jang Hyuk is a solid actor, but based on stills and reports of this drama (which is very scant information, I know), I’m more impressed with Oh Ji-ho, who seems to be channeling an intensity I haven’t seen from him before. I’m used to seeing him portray a sweet, benign image, which is entirely different from this role. Oh has mostly been known for his looks and masculine physique, but not so much his acting ability; if he’s capable of doing more, this should be the drama that shows it. Both actors have been training heavily in various martial arts, including Taekkyeon and Julkwondo, and performed their own fighting and stunts.
And if Chuno turns out to be as strong as it’s seeming, I’m frankly glad that Lee Da-hae stepped in to take over from Han Hyo-joo. I like Han Hyo-joo a lot and she seems like a very sweet person, but she’s still building her acting skills and hasn’t developed the intensity that Lee Da-hae can evoke (yet?).
But more than anything, I’m waiting for them to finally show us some Lee Jong-hyuk!
Despite its casting, Chuno has attracted more attention for its behind-the-scenes names, with the writer of Level 7 Civil Servant, Chun Sung-il, and the PD behind the dark sageuk thriller Conspiracy in the Court, Kwak Jung-hwan, working together. The drama will air on KBS early next year.

Lee Da Hae has constantly updated her cyworld with some Chuno pictures, but official stills of her have not been available yet.
The soompi thread in Chuno has lots of information, they even had the official synopsis there. It's sounding more exciting within each still and info they give out. It sounds very promising.
I agree on Oh Ji Ho, he may just be the dark horse here.

Well, I must be living under a rock because this is the first I am hearing about this drama! Two handsome men in the leads and I am only now joining the party? WUT?
This looks really good. I am looking forward to being a killjoy by analyzing class issues when the inevitable love triangle comes up between a lord, a slave, and a rich?/poor? girl.
I am already rooting for the slave, 'cause, really, who in their right mind would root for the slave-owner?

amazing pictures! i'm almost disappointed that there will be a female lead and a love story. I feel like this should be a dudes-only kind of story.

In the third picture, it looks like Jang Hyuk is channeling Leo Seo Jin from Damo.
It look like Oh Ji Ho has gone from weird, sissy gangster boy from My Wife is A Gangster 3 to manly, tough guy.
Can't wait to check this out.

^What's wrong with their hair? O_o
I'm looking forward to Oh Ji Ho's performance; I was quite worried initially when they named both him and Han Hyo Joo, but looking at these stills, I think I worried for nothing. Oh Ji Ho has always been slightly wooden, from what I've seen of him, but under Kwak Jung Hwan's direction, I'm starting to think that he can draw out whatever hidden acting ability he had before.
Lee Da Hae is certainly a better casting than HHJ, too. As much as I like HHJ, and she shows potential, she's never really impressed me yet with any sort of character immersion.

Chuno, Chuno, Chuno............
The wait is torture!
Is it 2010 yet? :P
@ Nom_Kitteh
It's not just two hot men...it's practically the whole cast!
Jang Hyuk, Oh Ji Ho, Lee Jong Hyuk (I echo JB's sentiments :D ), Choi Chul Ho, Han Jung Soo, Danny Ahn, and the list goes on...
And the love triangle is
noble-turned-lost-everything-turned-slave hunter
slave-turned-adopted-noble
guard-turned-slave-turned-training-instructor
;)

Ohhhh! Looks promising :D I've had misgivings about Oh Ji Ho because he's been rather weak on that acting front so far, but now I'm definitely hopeful.
And yeah, totally agree that it's a good thing Lee Dae Hae stepped in instead of Han Hyo-Joo.
But WHAT?! This is airing early next year? T________T

Nom-kitteh, I am rooting for the slave-owner :)
Well, I don't know if I'd root for the slave-owner per se, but a former slave-owner who lost all his property and his family in a fire set by the girl's brother and ended up destitute and hard-scrabble and took to slave-hunting as a means to survive and get some revenge? It sounds so dysfunctional, it's right up my alley.

@10 and 15: :-) NOW that's the K-world of K-dramas I love -- Dysfunctional Alley.
Okay, now I am rooting for whomever looks the hottest on the screen at any given time. That's a good motto to live by, I say.

Ohh, this has potential to become one of my favourites! A sageuk with hot leading men, non-irritating leading lady and a promising storyline :D Hope it'll live up to its potential.
It reminds me of Damo, my all-time favourite K-drama ever.

Jang Hyuk isn't really a slave owner... well he was a son of a great noble who owned slaves. Jang Hyuk's character had an on-going affair with his family's slave played by Lee da hae.
Lee da hae's brother is an activist and cannot wait to get out of slavery. When news that the new king will release slaves, he got too excited. he decided to burn down Jang Hyuk's house. as a result, killing the whole clan, burning everything down... leaving Jang Hyuk with nothing. Lee da hae escapes with her brother.
Jang Hyuk transforms himself to be a slave hunter, partly due to financial reasons and another because of his vow to find Lee Da Hae and her brother. he is seeking revenge but also still in love with his slave.
Oh Ji Ho now is a former general framed for a crime he did not do. his sentence is to be a slave. This general is a faithful and loyal follower of the crowned prince, when he heard the prince was in trouble, he escapes (bromance!!!!).
On his way there, he meets Lee Da Hae who is now posing as a noble woman and running away from her honeymoon night.
Jang Hyuk is hired to hunt for Oh Ji Ho.
now doesn't that sound DELICIOUS or what?

Sounds interesting. I'm not usually a big fan of sageuks but this one's got my attention. I am also glad OJH is showing a different (more positive) side to his acting skills.

"now doesn’t that sound DELICIOUS or what?"
Yes, please sir, can I have some more deliciousness, and sooner rather than later. I've been eyeing Chuno since the casting announcements starting rolling, and jeez are those some hot hot good looking, broody men in them pictures above.
I almost (but not yet) don't want LDH to show up and interrupt their Frozen Flower moment between those 2.
And this is a genuine love triangle, where a viewer based on character description cannot easily choose to root for one guy over the other.
My allegiance will ultimately be given to whomever brings it more and hits it harder - intensity, boys, bring the intensity and the burning pain, and my love will be all yours.

WOW! The pictures look great. I am happy with all the casting. I can't wait. It is refreshing to finally watch a sageuk not dealing with queens and princesses fighting for the throne. I hope this series will hit the 30 -40 percent ratings. Fighting.

Han Hyo-joo is not ready for serious roles she just doesn't have the face for it. Han Hyo-joois is to innocent looking combine that with her lack of acting ability would equal a cruddy drama. So if Lee Da-hae was is anything like she was in EAST OF EDEN then i welcome her with open arms.^_^

I was also initially hesitant about Oh Ji-ho being casted, but he looks so different from his usually self in these stills. I agree with Lemoncat, maybe this will be the drama where he gets to show what he's got and there's no better directer to do it then Kwak Jung Hwan. I can't wait! I'm excited about the extended cast as well!
