I totally thought this would be lame, but this movie actually looks pretty awesome. I'm a big action movie junkie, and I loved V for Vendetta.

I just saw the trailer and wow...looks really promising. I am not a fan of Rain at all but it's amazing that Hollywood can make a mediocre actor like Rain appear incredibly professional. Thanks to a big budget production and amazing visual effects. Not my type of movie but it's cool to see a Korean actor be in a huge blockbuster movie. With Hollywood, a piece of crap can look like a piece of yummy chocolate hehehe.

Well, I'm sure before he becomes "overrated" he has worked really hard. You should read about his career before you judge him. I'm sure he got the role because he is well known in Asia but before he got famous he worked really hard. I respect your opinion but I feel a tad bit sad for him when what you said seem to disregard his hard work.

I'm not gonna lie. Rain looks bad ass in that movie. It might be a little stylized and is probably light on plot but will I see it? Yes. I can't help it. Now that's what I am talking about. Yes, it is still the stereotypical role Asian men find themselves ad nauseum in Hollywood, but it does look like a terrific action movie, and Rain looks mmm-mmmm-fine! Gorgeous man, nice enough looking movie. I watch movies in the theaters once a year, and this one might be it for 2009!

Also, Rain has got to be one of the more hard working entertainers out there. The man is a workaholic and he deserves all the good that comes his way.

The plot seems contrived but Rain does look badass in the trailer. I don't mind Asians portraying a typical kung fu or ninja expert if it's good. I'll definitely see it just out of curiosity. I hope it won't be too cheesy.

Did we all watch the same trailer?? As a hardcore action/kung-fu movie enthusiast, I found that "Ninja Assassin" is an incredibly cheesy B-movie that's trying too hard. Rain's English is still not up to par, either, and the poster doesn't look like its true to the film. I mean really. It looks like it's got some Tarantino-type flair to it, but the movie itself isn't anywhere near what is portrayed there. Sorry, I'm with "Yikes" on this one. I'd much rather spend the money and time on "New Moon" which will hit the theaters around the same time.

Rain's less than perfect English doesn't bother me in the slightest. He's Korean, of course he's going to have an accent. I imagine I would sound quite hilarious speaking Korean in an American (and Southern, at that) accent, LOL!

I'm admittedly biased though; I think Rain is all that and then some more, so...this just my two cents. He could recite the NYC phone book in Swahili and I'd pay big bucks to watch it.

Rain works hard, has all his life, so while he not a great actor by any stretch of the imagination, he certainly can act. Well enough for what looks like a action Movie where the FX is the main star.
Frankly if he wants to be an Actor, just go home and learn more, appearing in Hollywood films like this and speed racer, you not going to learn much acting skills, though i sure it doing his bank balance and profile some good.

i've never been a huge rain fan - i've liked his stuff here and there but never followed his career really. however, this movie looks like fun :) i love action films and i'm curious to hear his english (more than the half a second shown in the trailer hehe). and hell, can't deny it... the boy has a fiiiiiine body :) oh ya and SUNG KANG is in this too.. hopefully more than the 10 minutes he was in fast and furious haha. :)

i think the movie looks great & Rain aka Bi looks awesome in it! not too shabby for an action flick..he's totally badass & gets your heart pumping in every scene..all i really require to enjoy a movie like this one & i think a lot of other people will too ..i won't be watching this for thoughtful drama but action baby!! & Rain is so fiiine :)

I think this movie is for entertainment. If it entertains, then it has fulfilled its purpose, no?

And I'm not sure about his fine acting skills but hey, it's not that easy for any actor, world-class or otherwise, to pull off an action movie like this with no prior experience. This director seems to know what he's doing (V for Vendetta), and to actually choose Rain for a role originally meant for Jet Li well...

And being over-hyped is not the product's fault but its company's/marketing. You can't really blame a person for going along with the judgment of their all-powerful management co (esp. in Korea). It's like blaming the actual car insurance plan for its stupid viral ads involving cavemen, geckos, and stacks of money with googly eyes.

Who knows, maybe when you get past all the stupid glittery packaging you'll find something of actual substance. But hey, it could also totally suck.

This movie is all about the action, the graphics, and not so much about the plot, so I hope people stop saying, "the story is so cheesy blah blah or that it's the same story blah blah".

I feel sorry for people who don't get entertained by a movie because they always ask for something.

You obviously don't know what he has gone through to get to where he is. Google it and you can find it. That's how everyone (except you, obviously) knows how he got to where he is right now. And as for this movie, he was handpicked by the producers because they saw his hard work in Speed Racer (where he has to audition). Wow! I have heard a lot of negativity about Rain these past few months. What with all the scandal and legal issues, however, after watching the trailer I'm so psyched!

I hope that this is the reason that he kind of blew off his music career these past few months, coz I think he totally rocked this movie!

I don't know why but for some reason the feel of that trailer reminded me of Jet Li's The Black Mask. I'll probably go see this. It looks promising.

I'm a huge Rain fain! Can you tell:-) I can honestly tell you that I'm not into his music however I do enjoy his dancing. That man can dance I tell ya. I love love him as an actor. Rain is a great actor! I am really anticipating on watching his movie ninja assasin. When it comes to action movies such as ninja assasin and GI Joe, of course it will be more about the action then about the plot. For everyone that expects it to be much more than that, then go watch goodwill hunting!!

i also am not a fan of Rain... i thought he was pretty awful in A love to kill. i've not heard any of his songs, except of others have covered. but that's the biggest form or flattery, right? to cover another artist's song? so, he must be pretty damn talented in the singing field. i will give him the YUMMY body... and the trailer is badass. however, if i see this movie in the theaters, which i probably won't, it will totally be for Rick Yune!!! LOVED him in Snow falling on Cedars. (which i just re-watched last week!!!)

@sari--that's your opinion. i actually liked the ending, but it coulda been done more... beautifully? i guess i'm not sure what word i'm looking for... it just was too abrupt. i mean, the drama shoulda ended at ep 6, but the final scene was just blah! had it been more developed... it woulda been better. i'm a sucker for lovers that die together at the end... but it just didn't seem like the rite time yet. i didn't care for Rain at all in the drama, but he did have some AWESOME crying scenes over his vegetative bro. man, those boogers were disgustingly real! i didn't like the characters, the story line... overall, i HATED the drama... there are very few dramas i HATE, ALTK is one of those few.
