@pat: Naturally the skin wouldn't be real in this case (or any cosmetics ad, for that matter) - looking at the picture, that's almost absurd - but Asians do seem to have pretty skin. At least in dramas, much prettier than what I've seen every day around here in Eastern Europe.

@mzpakipot: It's not that she's a bad actress (she's great on crying scenes), but her acting in 'Winter Sonata' was so so. I don't know if she's the one to blame. Her character on the 2nd half of the drama was extremelly annoying and 'Winter Sonata' was super boring and annoying after episode 10 - so maybe the fault is also of the writer of the drama. But anyway, Choi Ji Woo's character only had 2-3 emotions and she always had the same 2-3 diferent facial expressions til the end of the drama. I liked her character and her acting in the begining of 'Winter Sonata', but on the 2nd half of the drama, I couldn't stand it anymore. I started to get annoyed by her character (the most annoying of all in the drama) and by 'Winter Sonata', that by the end of the drama I was also disliking how when she talked her uper-lip didn't moved & how she was always so tall compared to the rest of the cast - really weird! O_o I never felt like this for an actress, in a way that I start to cringe when I see her. Maybe I should blame 'Winter Sonata' for making me feel this way towards her... But how come I started to like Bae Yong Joon after watching 'Winter Sonata' and how come I don't cringe when I see the other actors/actresses of 'Winter Sonata'?
Does it makes any sense?

Choi Ji Woo is one of Korea's top actresses...WInter Sonata may be a tad dramatic for some but this series showed the world that dramatic doesn't mean that you have to wail or shout or cry or throw things to show that you're sad or angry...just expressing with the eyes works, and it is where the "true" emotion lies...and Choi Ji Woo is one of the actresses who gets this across...as for versatility, watch her in Everybody has Secrets...

Not everyone like Winter SOnata but most people do obviously because of its immense popularity not only in Korea but the rest of the world. WInter Sonata may be too cliche for some, but it introduced me to the Korean culture and pop. For that I am forever grateful. Had it not been for Winter Sonata, I would have not known much about Korea or had the desire to eat their foods, listen to the songs, and learn the language.

@59 - Maria. You should watch Everybody Has Secrets movie. Choi Ji Woo was very different in that movie, no crying and she was so funny.

I think she is gorgeous in many ways. As an actress, i think she is excellent in her work and very talented entertainer indeed. Maria, I think you should watch Star's Lover or Air City and Everybody Has Secrets as Trucky just mentioned above, you might have a different view on CJW. Overall, I think she is great. Oh BTW, you said "how she always so tall" well yeah because she is tall compare to other actresses hehehe. CJW is very tall for Asians :-)

Hehe...I was rather polite when making my comments at Starjiwoo, saying that I feel like I am watching a science fiction--I am a Legend--starred Will Smith. Effectively, what I meant is that she is like the mutant that attacked Will Smith, or rather on second thought because she has got fins, a steamed halibut fillet!! Hehe...a fish called Wanda is most appropriate!!

these are photos for a cosmetic brand, right? based on these photos, i don't think i will buy this cosmetic brand. great cosmetics are supposed to bring out a person's natural beauty and not the other way around. great makeup is supposed to make you look like you're not wearing any make up at all. this brand did the opposite with CJW. instead of making her natural beauty shine, it just showed how much her beauty depended on surgery, technology (photoshop) and cosmetics.

Melissa - beauty is in the eye of beholder, my dear. I honestly can't see what part of her face that is being surgically altered. Yes, the make up in here and her pulled back hair made her look different or should I say chic. Many of European make up photos are like this, seriously. If you see her normally without much make up, she looks very different than this picture. I personally like Choi Ji Woo without much make up, she looks more natural. I know a friend of a friend who is a plastic surgeon and he actually said that it's quite difficult to identify faces that have been altered via surgery even for him who obviously is an expert. The only way you can tell is by looking at their medical records.

Thanks for the suggestion. I know I'm being a bit harsh judging her based on 'Winter Sonata', but I never hated a drama as much as I hated 'Winter Sonata'. But I'll try to give her a chance with the movie you suggested 'Everybody has Secrets' and maybe if I have patience (20 episodes! O_o) I might try 'Star's Lover' specially because of Yoo Ji Tae (who's an actor I like).

Alien or not, she's a good actress and nobody is perfect, something strange with her nose yes but she's still watchable. However this photo is way too much make up and doesn't look like the real her.
