SBS lines up new medical sageuk
by javabeans
SBS has another historical drama planned for Mondays and Tuesdays, which brings Han Hye-jin (Terroir) back to the sageuk genre following her turn in Jumong two years ago. The drama is Jejoongwon [제중원], which is the first modern hospital in Korea established in the Joseon era in the year 1886. Han takes the lead role opposite the already cast Park Yong-woo (Cell Phone).
This should be interesting with PD Hong Chang-wook of Scale of Providence and Catch a Kangnam Mother directing, but even more so for writer Lee Ki-won, who wrote the Korean version of White Tower (and Spotlight, but we can forget about that one). He was tremendously successful in bringing to life the tensions and political maneuverings within a hospital of ambitious doctors in a modern setting; will that translate to a historical setting?
Park Yong-woo plays a man who overcomes adversity to succeed as a doctor. Han Hye-jin plays a character representing the “modern woman” of the age who becomes a doctor and shares a romantic loveline with Park.
Jejoongwon will enter filming in July and is looking at an October premiere.

Speaking of Dae Jang Geum, I kinda thought the first half of the series, which took place in the royal kitchen, was a lot more interesting than the second half, which focused more on medicine. It'll be interesting to see how another sageuk handles the same subject matter.

after seeing, Aja! GeumSoon, i don't think i'll ever shake off calling Han HyeJin as GeumSoon. she was that effective in that drama. anyhow, I really like her and I might try this one. I think i'm the only one who didnt like DaeJangGeum. but if it is in fact a little similar, i think i'll try it just for the sake of Han HyeJin.

Why dont they cast her opposite Kang Ji Hwan instead. Both of them have great screen chemistry & they make a very handsome couple.Sigh!!! It would be so nice..I've been waiting to see them act together again since Aja Geum Soon. Kang Ji Hwan sshi, where are you? I'm quite sure viewership will skyrocket if both of you act together again.

I'm very excited about this news. I like HanHeyJin in "Be Strong, Geum Soon" even more than "Jumong". I'm looking forward to this drama and hope it will do better than 'Terroir'.
As for the male lead, is this the Park Yong-woo in "Terms of Endearment," who played Eun Pah's boyfriend? I didn't have a very good impression about him then. I really like to see Han Hey Jin pair up with someone more compatible as Kang JI Hwan or Song Il Kook, because she sure is a beauty. I didn't like her leading man in "Terrior" either, he was too old for her.

# 6 galadriel - You're not a lone. I couldn't go pass episode 10 of "DaeJangGeum". Similar with "Terroir", despite how much I like Han HeyJin. But I really do hope this new drama will be good.

#8 Acalle - I totally agree with you. Both Han Hye Jin & Kang Ji Hwan left me
totally mesmerised in "Be Strong Geum Soon", so I too think she should pair up
with someone more compatble like KJH. In fact I remember them best in BSGS.
Like I said at #7 viewership will surely shoot if both of them team up again. I
hope producers are reading this feedback...so we can look forward to seeing
them act together again very soon!

My most favorite out of her dramas are Be strong Geum Soon and Ju Mong =) You guys don't like Dae Jang Geum and Terroir ? neither do I =P Dae Jang Geum has a good storyline but I don't like the main characters... and Terroir is good but it didn't left a good impression in me maybe because it's all about wine and for adults, honestly in Terroir I don't like the guy she was pairing with, I prefer Jo Yi xD.
