I think these commercials are win-win-win-win.

Win - LG for positive branding, solid brand equity, ad recall potential likely to be high.

Win - the actors are given good pub and their brand equity goes up too, in addition to whatever they are being paid.

Win - fans of the actors get to see something cute and nostalgic (perhaps) or even instructional.

Win - consumers of LG products, they get to feel good about the product they already own, and LG does make good air conditioners.

Gotta love the Asian CFs and the use of celebs!! Really - can anyone name a high profile non-Asian celeb in an ad (shown for their own aka non-Asian market) for a air conditioner? Or any whitegoods? @_@ I've seen plenty of non-Asian celebs in Asia-only (eg Japan) endorsements....
