Queen Seon-deok premieres in first place
by javabeans
Jung Ryeo-won (“Ja Myung Go”), Go Hyun-jung (“Queen Seon-deok”)
Queen Seon-deok, MBC’s historical extravaganza, got off to a decent start today with a first-place premiere at a 16% rating. Ja Myung Go, already nervous, may as well be put on death watch.
In most cases, a first-episode rating number isn’t too important (ratings can change greatly over the course of a drama’s run), but Ja Myung Go is currently awaiting a final decision on whether or not to curtail its 50-episode run by six weeks, or 12 episodes, down to 38 episodes total; it is reportedly monitoring Seon-deok‘s opening numbers closely. Ja Myung Go has been drawing positive response for its acting, but given that its numbers are not rising from its current 10.4% (Story of a Man swung upward just a little bit at 9.8%), I think it was hoping for more than it got. The actors are preparing themselves for an early finish.
The drama to follow Ja Myung Go, Dream, is preparing to begin filming. (It stars Joo Jin-mo, Kim Bum, and Sohn Dam-bi and features Kim Bum as a juvenile delinquent who becomes a mixed martial arts fighter.)
Meanwhile, Seon-deok has drawn positive response for the acting of its leading lady, Go Hyun-jung; the writer has praised Go’s performance as “better than expected.” Her co-star Lee Yo-won will make her appearance a bit later as Queen Seon-deok herself.

Is it just me or does Jung Ryeo-won's face look different? I almost didn't recognize her.
Sad to see Ja Myung Go end, but I'm curious about Dream and I wanna see it. :D

Actually, i've been watching Hong Gil Dong and i've decided that i quite like these types of drama's - well that's got nothing at all to do with the Ja myung go ratings or it being cut short but...........i am intending to watch it however many episodes it ends up being!

Good news for Story of a Man by the way, so far it's the best ratings of the drama.

Ja-myung-go is actually pretty cool. I like it.
I'm watching it to see how the HoDong-NakRang-JaMyung love triangle plot thickens :)

Whatever the ratings may be and whatever the decision on cutting this drama short may be I think the biggest winners are the three main leads especially Jeong Ryeo Won and Park Min Young,
Park Min Young who has shown she is more than competent an actress and Ryeo-Won who is slowly solidifying her status maybe not as a A-list star but at least a A-list actress. I feel like with her performance in this drama coupled with her quirky role in her latest movie she is slowly pushing her way into more celebrated Korean cinema.
And as a Jeong Ryeo Won fan Im inclined to think she may be more Kim Ki-Duk and less Kwak Jae-yong if I can make that metaphor.

I watched it and found it truly amazing. Probably one of the best korean sageuks I have watched in a long time (being surrounded by it all my life). It really is what it is all hyped up to be. (Except that CG-ed egg. I was hoping they werent going to follow the modern trend of CG-ing. but. yeah. Thats only it. The costumes dont look plasticy costume stuff, they really do look fitting. I appreciate that.)

I admit I'm really disappointed with Historical drama's lately, I usually watch the first few episodes and see how it goes but I gave up on most of them. Nothing have grabbed my attention ever since Jumong but today I watched the first 2 episode of Queen Seon-deok and I must say it gave me the tingles and I'm really looking forward for next week. I hope the great acting and great directing continues on and on!

I am from Indonesia, and I think JA myung story is Ok. The story plot quite interesting and the acting also not bad. May be Just not in the best timing in korea. Hopefully they not simply cut the episode and short the story line

haven't start to watch both ja myung go and queen seon duk but i still think no other historical drama will ever beat or be as good as jumong. jumong in my opinion was the greatest series ever made.
