Partner casts Kim Hyun-joo as a lawyer
by javabeans
Since Magazine Allo is being postponed, KBS is now moving quickly to swap in its replacement, a law series called Partner [파트너]. While the initial announcement didn’t pique my interest, I admit news of its leading lady did: lovely lady Kim Hyun-joo, of Insoon is Pretty, To Marry a Millionaire and, most recently, Boys Before Flowers.
She’ll take the lead as an attorney at a top international law firm; the drama focuses on the lawyers’ legal battles and interactions with judges and prosecutors in a “realistic” look at the Korean legal world. Kim’s character finds herself caught between law and justice, and is a passionate lawyer who may sometimes cross the line of overly rigid laws in order to do what is right.
I’m not sure about the subject matter, and I never really got into last year’s MBC lawyer drama Lawyers of Korea, but I do really like Kim Hyun-joo with her gentle aura.
The drama will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays, premiering June 24. It is written by Jo Jung-joo (Drama City: 쉿! 거기, 천사) and Yoo Mi-kyung (Drama City: 거미여인의 사랑법, Hometown of Legends) and will be directed by Hwang Eui-kyung (Mister Goodbye, Wedding).

Fantasy fantasy.... My first reaction to Partner is "wow, that's really awesome!! I'd LOVE to work at that kind of a law firm where you have passionate young, good looking, international law lawyers who may sometimes cross the line of overly rigid laws in order to do what is right, battling other lawyers, judges and prosecutors......" Imagine a law firm chock full of energetic and spirited young lawyers who look like Kim Hyun-joo and whoever else they will cast...
And even if the news reports say that this particular drama will try to give a taste of what really goes on in law firms, I have to wonder how "real" it will be. 99.9% of legal work is boring and complicated, and the best lawyers are all old old old because it takes a long long time to be a good one, and generally speaking, nobody looks like Kim Hyun Joo, sorry. And so "real" reality splashes cold water on my face.
It would be better to live in the k-drama world than in my world. Dangerous thought! It's just entertainment... it's just entertainment. LOL.

dunno about this one, but i luuurvee Lawyers of Korea. I was turned off a little by the female lead initially, but continued on hoping for somethiing more, and i'm glad i did. Han min gook character is just so charming, or maybe because Lee Sung Jae played it but in any case, i didn't expect to like a male character who was supposed to be a jerk. haha. And lee soo kyung kinda grew on me after a few episodes, especially after she got rid of the ahjummaish perm. lol.
As for partner, like Boraah, i'm kinda concern with its abrupt production. Not that i'm interested in the drama (yet). besides, not a fan of Hyun joo. Let's see who else in the cast...

Glad to see Kim Hyun Joo in another drama. This one sounds less comedic than Lawyers of Korea, but then, Lee Sung Jae was just plain awesome as Han Min Gook.
Let's see who KHJ will be paired with as the leading man.

I am so glad she will be in her own series. In BBF she didn't get to do much. I am just wondering who her leading man will be...

Hm...this sounds interesting to me. But then again, I'm going to study law, so I'm entirely biased. Plus, she's just lovely : )

Sounds like a better storyline than Magazine Allo.
I like "Lawyers of Korea". I did not know Kim Hyun-Joo until I watched BBF. She portrays an intelligent image so I think being a lawyer in this drama is no problem.

I like Kim Hyun-joo so I hope this drama will be a good one. I wonder who the male lead will be... I hope it will be more like The Lawyers than Lawyers of Korea (which I didn't really like) but I'm a little worried about this because this drama seems rushed.
