Lee Da-hae couples up with Baek Sung-hyun

Lee Da-hae is so pretty. She’s also five years older than actor Baek Sung-hyun (20), with whom she pairs up in a new music video, and while the age difference is pretty evident, they still look pretty good together.

The two actors are featured in kpop singer Kim Hyung-joong‘s rather hyped music video; the song is his new single “Today’s Fortune” [오늘의 운세]. The video itself is somewhat standard kpop ballad fare; the story is told post-breakup, with flashbacks that point to a happier time when the couple was in love. (Watch below.)

Lee Da-hae last acted in the large-scale MBC drama East of Eden, although she caused something of a stir when she dropped out early citing dissatisfaction with her character and was subsequently written out of the series. She spent some time abroad on vacation, and hasn’t yet picked a follow-up project. After the disappointing drama series Robbers and the cute but forgettable Hello Miss, I hope she picks a project better suited to her talents, which are many, but which have unfortunately been overshadowed by mediocre projects or characters.

Meanwhile, Baek Sung-hyun, a former child actor, is one of those up-and-comers to keep an eye on (in my opinion). He acted in dramas like Damo and Stairway to Heaven when he was in his early teens, and is now transitioning to more adult roles. He was more recently in the Kim Su-ro comedy film (alongside other up-and-comers Lee Min-ho and Park Bo-young) Our High School E.T., and will soon be seen on KBS’s new romantic comedy series Just Looking (aka That Fool aka the former Six Months), which stars Kim Ah-joong and Hwang Jung-min.

bellaza- LOL Dennis Oh is a given, SHE IS MY QUEEN! MIKE-UUUH! MIKEUUUH!
I didn't get far in East of Eden to hear YJH speak English (but I know he speaks it well) because even LDH cannot save that mess of a show for me. I left before she left maybe it was a sign.

@Sqoot,

But, then, you missed out on this gem of a scene, when they find out that Dennis was killed.

*Lee Dong Chul hears the news and puts down the phone*

Lee Dong Chul: "Mike-uhhh . . . Mike-uhh . . . *"
Grace: "What is going on?!?"
Lee Dong Chul: "Mike . . Uhhhh . . . Mike-uhhh. . . . "
Grace: "Tell me Lee Dong Chul!!"

*repeat above dialogue for 4 minutes*

President Guk: "Grace-uhh, what happened to Mike-uhh?"
Grace: "Mike-uhhh . . .Mike -uhhh . . . "
President Guk: "Will somebody not be a retard and tell me what the heck is going on?!?"
Grace: "Mike. . . Uhhh . . . Mika. . . Uhhh"
Lee Dong Chul: "Mike-UHHHHH!!!!!!"

*repeat for another 5 minutes*

@belleza

Ohhhh yeah. I actually got around to watching the end of EoE out of curiosity and Yeon Jung Hoon (who apparently attended Pasadena HS in CA) had a pretty awesome English line. I was stunned 0_0. Maybe I'm just easily impressed by Asians who can speak English...

@Kobe,

"I demand compensation!!!"

There's an extremely hot scene between Lee Dae Hae, Lee Yeon Hee, and Han Ji Hye in East of Eden. Even Shin Tae Hwan comments, "my goodness, these women are going straight to the deuce!! Too sexy. Too sexy."

Don't believe me? How about watching ALL FIFTY SIX EPISODES to find out. . . (OMG that ending!!! I want 4 months of my life back!! damn you writer and replacement writer of East of Eden!! damn you to hell!!! *Belleza's vengeful, well-manicured fist to sky!!* :( )

D-addict talk: If my favorite site gets shut down because of him, I'm gonna go absolutely ballistic.

"and Kobe, there’s a makeout session between Lee Da Hae and Lee Yeon Hee… with Han Ji Hye videotaping it…"

. . . while Park Hae Jin behind a closet is . . .

Ya that's the thing. Lee Da Hae's character wasn't so much in the story as she was giving an "assignment of the day" per episode. One episode, she'd walk the dog (and THAT WOULD BE IT for the whole frigging episode O_o) Another episode, she'd meet Lee Dong Chul at the airport. Or make out with Lee Yeon Hee. Hey, it pays the bills. *shrug*

"I am laughing so hard at the re-enactment of Mike’s “death”."

The funniest part is that's pretty dang close to how that scene was written O_o :D

"which-korean-speak-english-well "

It makes you feel connected to them, you know? Like Kim Bim from Suju, his English is totally Cali. Or Park Joon Hyung, who greets people in the Long Beach dialect (i.e. "hey girl, wazzup wit u?" <-- no really, he said this on X-man lolz)

Also, if you start thinking of them by their English names, I guess it kinda becomes a vicarious experience. Shauna Han from Pasadena (Han Go Eun), Rachel Park from Philly (Park Min Young), Leslie Kim from Cerritos (Han Ye Seul), Allen Iverson from Pasadena (Lee Ji Ah), etc. You know, you just imagine that it's YOU stuck in a love contract with a really, really hawt chaebol. ;)

... I liked it when she walked the dog. haha.

She lived in Sydney, not really US so her accent is kind of Aussie mixed with Korean.

Speaking of English names, Lee Da Hae's English name sounds like a newly discovered stripper. Cherry Byun.

Shhh!! We can't spoil episode [edited] for Kobe. ;)

Then you have those who are Catholic . Cecilia Kim (Kim Ha Neul), Francisco Kwon (Kwon Sang Woo <-- ay dios mio!), Katie Han (Han Hyo Joo), etc.

I've liked her in almost all the projects she's been in (inlcuding 'Robbers' believe it or not). Her acting is believable and convincing, she's one of the rare talented beauties in the Korean entertainment industry. I admit, some of her roles are more fitting/suitable than others but I have yet to be "disappointed" with her.

As for LDH's English, I believe people are being overly critical. I'd like to see you learn Korean fluently (without the slightest accent) in a matter of years, and I can assure you, you won't come close to a Korean native speaker. So, it's best not to compare LDH's accent and fluency with that of an English native speaker, clearly we'll spot flaws. I'm perfectly satisfied with her English, I think it's at a superior level and highly acceptable if she were to star in a Hollywood movie.

The MV lacked intensity, and (frankly) it was quite dull. The only memorable part was the "kitchen scene", although it reflected the couple's "good times", I found it strange to chase your boyfriend with a pan. And as if that wasn't enough, in an attempt to deflect her "attack", the boyfriend then twists her arm 180°. But just when you thought it couldn't get any crazier, the two laugh about it like maniacs. Mad world, indeed.

Nonetheless, she looked pretty and did the "crying scene" justly.
