i think it will sell well in japan. star's lover isn't too slow like her stairway to heaven (which was just crap, i think) or a little weird kind of plot like air city (birds)...i was also a little disgruntled with the way it turned out especially from the middle towards the end...but ah, i liked episode 19 the most...

I wish Star's Lover to be successful in Japan.

I am truly apologetic towards you for what I'm about to say:

I am waiting for your recaps because I stopped watching A Star's Lover after episode 8 or 9. So yes, please finish watching because I had to stop for my own sanity. It came to the point where it was much, MUCH more satisfying and enjoyable at reading your recap summaries, rather than watching the show myself. I started having an intense desire to pull my hair out over the crazy love story scenario between Mari and Chul Soo. It's like, come on, we know you like each other. Hurry up and just get married already. And Mari, ditch your psychotic manager. You don't need the damn michinom to make your career successful!

So yes, sorry for my selfishness at totally enjoying your recaps. If the drama tipped you over the edge as well, then I understand. You don't have to finish anytime soon. Perhaps one day, when I know the final outcome of the story, I'll go back and complete watching the drama. Until then, adieu A Star's Lover.

To me, it was all about timing. The popularity of BBF overshadowed A Star's Lover. I think the latter also appealed to a more mature audience. But I believed those who stuck to it still found it a wonderful drama. Sure it was draggy in the middle (but aren't most Kdramas guilty of that) The chemistry of CJW and YJT was unbeatable and nobody died or have some kind of incurable disease in the end! It had a fairytale ending...it was like Notting Hill, which was mentioned by many for its similarities. Dramabeans, I hope you will still give it a shot at finishing the series although there seemed to be many kdramas to distract and take up your time right now. For those who want to continue watching it, http://www.viikii.com has it with English subtitles. Have a good week ahead everybody....

I finished Star's Lover and thought it was a pretty decent drama. You can't deny the on-screen chemistry between the two main leads. I have to warn you though that it doesn't cure itself of the "slowness" you pointed out. Only until episode 19 does the story pick up a little and moves forward. I really enjoyed the ending because it gave me a sense of satisfactions afterwards.

My two cents is finished watching this drama since you've already invested so much into it and it would be a shame not to see how it ends. Recap or not, I leave that up to you decide.

I had actually stopped halfway due to it's dragginess...also I do get bored with CJW acting after a while, kind of stereotype to me... lol

The drama will have a chance of recouping its loss if CJW and YJT are promoting it together rather than only CJW. Hope for success in Japan.

i hope you would still continue your recaps though delayed :) it's such a great drama that you just have to watch till the end.

The actors and their chemistry with each other hold the plot well - although pretty weak sometime. But it kept me going back - I watched it twice. The love between the two was just wonderfully executed.

Star's Lover ran in the Wed/Thursday slot, so it didn't have to compete with either BBF or East of Eden. Moreover, Star's Lover core audience would have been significantly older than the main demo for Kingdom of the Wind or Return of Iljimae.

If SBS had wanted to give Star's Lover a decent shot for success, they would have moved it to the weekend, since that would have been the best fit for the demographic. However, Star's Lover (like KSW's Bad Love) was mostly made for the foreign market (the aesthetics and quiet pacing seem like a conscious effort by PD to adapt late-90s J-drama), and it essentially arrived DOA.

Choi Ji Woo went to promote her drama Star's Lover in Japan without the other cast. The actual telecast of the drama will be in May 1. By the time the drama is aired everyone will forget the premiere.

March 12 press conference showed very little enthusiasm in the drama. Looks like the press conference is not for the drama but for herself promoting her secret love affair / latest dating with Lee Ji Wook 6 years younger, that has ultimately revealed. The media is craving for juicy answers whether she is already married or when she will get married and they got the flat answer ' No', from her. May be the media is a little worried for her age, catching up from 34+++ towards 40 and the prime time has passed to look for love but settle down decently instead like her peers.

Actresses do not need to get married. Do they? For an actress (like Choi Ji Woo),love can create anywhere any time, both on and off screen. So why bother to get a Korean husband and the extended family with so many women in laws involved. It's a pesky. There have been many incidents that her peers had gone through in court cases for blue black faces and broken noses from their husbands.

I love to see Choi ji woo acting in Air City & Star Lovers. She is so beautiful and natural in her acting.
