Next up for army enlistment: Jo In-sung

More and more of the industry’s 28- and 29-year old male entertainers are being called away for military enlistment, and it looks like Jo In-sung (A Dirty Carnival) will be next up, along with along with Jo Seung-woo (Go Go 70).
However, unlike many of the other recent enlisters, Jo has applied to serve out his term in the military performers section (band, music, MC work), and recently underwent his physical examination and interview at the air force base on November 28. Soldiers in this section are usually selected based on skill with a musical instrument, but there is also a separate entertainers’ section. Those in the military band, for example, perform at official ceremonies and other public events.
(I wonder if this move will make Jo the target for criticism, since this type of service — like the oft-maligned desk job for soldiers with injuries — is physically less taxing. To offset the imbalance, I believe soldiers serve a few months longer, and Jo is certainly not the only star to end up in the performers’ unit — many start out in regular training, then transfer.)
If he is accepted into the unit, he will begin his enlistment with six weeks of training at the air force headquarters in Jinju starting January 19, 2009.
Jo In-sung’s next film project is the much-discussed gay-themed Frozen Flower, also starring Joo Jin-mo and Song Ji-hyo, which opens on December 30.

I was actually worried him doing this movie right before the service. Rumors have always surrounded Jo In Sun, and well the military isn't exactly the best place to test them.
He seems so slight sometimes.

i don't know with this performer, air force is performer , i think you don't have to say this is less physical, air force need higher skill too. it's drive airplane right????. he want to take airforce i think,
belleza : don't worry all actor played in Gay movie is straight, tom hanks, antonio banderas, jake gylenhaal, hwang jung min, i know it take risk but Tom Hanks Got Oscar cause he play as Gay , maybe insung too

That's a bad angle for him with the type of chin he has.
I liked the director's other films and I am looking forward to this one with two gorgeous men. Kudos to both the guys for this bold move. I have always liked the other Jo since his Musa days.

did I understand it right?? there's a rumor in Korea that Jo In Sung is gay?? ....whatever... I still love him....one of my fave K actors out there....just sad that he'll be enlisted soon.....it sure is and will be a sad next 2 yrs for me....with almost all my fave actors being enlisted, eric, gong yoo....but anyways, I still have my JunKi and Ji Hwan out there.....

@dorispLOVESkangJiHwan , well, there's this blog which insinuates that jo in sung is gay basing primarily on his role in frozen flower and by the fact that he is not as "macho" or brusque as other guys. oh dear, some people are just plain narrowminded and/or stupid. how in the world can you possibly conclude that someone is gay just because he's a refined, gentle person like a prince? and how can you possibly conclude that someone is gay just because he's able to give a convinving performance in a gay movie?
