Everyone’s all smiles for Sweet Lies
by javabeans
November 17 was production press conference day for the new romantic comedy starring Park Jin-hee (War of Money), Sweet Lies.
In the movie, Park’s character is a TV writer who still carries a torch for her first love (Lee Ki-woo). When she happens to get in a car accident with him, she jumps to make the most of this opportunity, and fakes amnesia from the accident (so she can stay at his place until her memory returns). Jo Han-seon is the childhood friend who tries to get her memory back (which is when “the story takes a twist upon a twist”).
Yes, we can all hate clichés as a rule, but there are always some that work for us (hence the continued use of clichés) — and this movie employs two of my favorites: amnesia and forced proximity. I’ll definitely be checking this one out.
Asked at the press conference about her thoughts on marriage, Park Jin-hee answered that she feels that at 30 years old and 10 years into her career, she is “at the age where I’d seriously consider marriage… I want to get married soon.” (No word on whom with.) This also marks her tenth film.
Upon being asked why he chose this role, since he is more known for heavier or action-oriented projects, Jo Han-seon said he liked that this was a bright, cheery film.
Lee Ki-woo, on the other hand, was drawn to the project because of his co-stars, as well as the strength of the production house (CJ Entertainment).
The movie opens on December 18.
(Park Jin-hee is such a pretty lady, but every time I see her, I wonder why it seems she doesn’t wear clothes that well. Jo Han-seon is a bit eccentrically attired, but no big deal there. And Lee Ki-woo towers over his castmates even without the added lift of his helmet hair — the hairspray! the perfectly arranged blowout! it’s hilarious!)

Without clichés, there will be no more movies.. yes, as much as I hate them, they will never die.
I actually like this one. If the cliché is right on this one, she'll end up with her childhood friend.
