Hyo-joo cast as Jaejoong’s love interest
by javabeans
Remember how DBSK’s Hero Jaejoong was all set for his acting debut in the joint Korea-Japan project, Heaven’s Postman? His co-star has been cast, and it’s Iljimae‘s Han Hyo-joo.
The series is notable for its famous Japanese drama writer Kitagawa Eriko (Long Vacation) and its I’m Sorry, I Love You director Lee Hyung-min.
Jaejoong plays a “quirky” character who delivers messages from loved ones on earth to the deceased in heaven. Han Hyo-joo is described merely as his co-star.
A source with the production said, “Currently, the actors are in script rehearsal, and shooting will begin early next month.” The two-episode “telecinema” is looking at a May 2009 air date on SBS and will also get a theater release and DVDs in both Japan and Korea, which explains why the production was eager to cast leads who command fans in both countries.

Han Hyo Joo! She's so adorable--this is really going on my list of "must see" now.
I was going to ask--do you get the impression that Koreans (and I guess asians, generally) have as much of an appreciation for writers as we do in the US? There's several big writers (Nora Ephron, Aaron Sorkin, George Lucas, etc. etc.) in film and television that often people will watch whatever it is FOR the writer, and little else, but I haven't gotten the same impression in the asian market--and instead think it's more based solely on celebrity. I know for me, there's several Korean and Japanese writers (Kitagawa Eriko being one of them) who I look out for, and flail happily when I see they have something new.

gallivanter, I'd say the plight of the writer is pretty much the same everywhere -- the few that are famous do get known for their work and attract fans of their own, but many do not. For instance, while most drama writers aren't household names (same in the States, really), a small number of them do become prominent enough to be their own brands.
But it's true that they don't get the superfame that Hollywood awards to people like JJ Abrams, Joss Whedon, David E. Kelley, Aaron Sorkin. (Granted, those are showrunners and executive producers, not just writers, and their role is more akin to the Korean "PD" who is more often than not a director rather than writer.) Also worth considering is that U.S. writers write on huge teams; Korean dramas are often written (astonishingly) all by one person.

KJJSHG - there's already a news article that indicated a kissing scene...
Im a certified JJ fan. whatever he does, I support. however when i heard him being casted in a drama, there's this scowl that appeared on my face. not because I dont want to see him act, esp act alongside a pretty actress nor do i think he's incapable. i just don't want this drama -which seems to have a good storyline- be a medium where people can bash him [if ratings are poor, they might blame his acting]. ah, i dont know where i'm going here... i just hope that JJ proves many doubters wrong; and perhaps impresses a few [ahem, like dramabeans. I understand you're not much of a dbsk fan, right?!]

@Javabeans-Yes, I noticed that. Then again, with American dramas, they are season for season, and the plot is not completely thought up. It's not one person's vision, so it loses that stamp (and therefore makes it harder for any one writer to become famous), but.... it works better for their ever-changing way.
The fact that it's all written by one person gets me to pick up certain characteristics of a writer though. The Hong sisters for one... and it all seem so much more cohesive somehow! And it ENDS, always always, and cohesively. Everything leads to that point, it doesn't randomly change to fit internal changes or whatnot or the writers' need for shock, and end without any connection to the beginning.

Ok, the acting is average for both of them. JJ has once acting in some of variety show ie Fish I dont remember. He has the talent and he has a unique talent to mimick an actor voice. Back to the business I didn't know about the girl acting but I'm looking forword because of the scriptwriter and the director although I'm a dbsk fan,

Thanks for the information^^
Looking forward to watching "quirky" Jaejoong perform and hoping that any kissing scenes will be tastefully done. Personally, I would not enjoy watching two female looking characters kiss. Euw...

I hope there will be a kissing scene, and not a FAKE one!
If your truly a JaeJoong fan, then you should support him! Dont say stuff like: " It really hurts me to see him with another girl." He doesn't even know you, so shut up! He and the DBSK can't stay single forever, you know. They need a love life too. Im glad the girl is pretty. If it was an ugly girl, then I would soooo die.
Can't wait for the drama to release!
JAEJOONG AND HYO JOO, FIGHTING!!!!
