Choi Ji-woo and Yoo Ji-tae in “A Star’s Lover”

After acting for ten years, Yoo Ji-tae is taking on his debut drama role. Despite his many film roles (Oldboy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, Ditto, Hwang Jini, Attack the Gas Station) and his additional career as filmmaker, remarkably Yoo has never done a television series before. While we see many a star go from television to film, it’s unusual for such a big name actor to go from an entirely film career to a television one. Perhaps we owe this move to his suitably high-profile co-star, Choi Ji-woo.
He takes on the part of a university instructor who falls in love with a famous movie star (Choi) in SBS’s December drama A Star’s Lover [스타의 연인] . (Let me tell ya, they make one good-looking — and tall — couple.)
(Looks like this is the drama formerly called Lovers in Asuka before it was then changed to Oh My Goddess, which has now changed its moniker once again. Third time’s the charm? Yeesh, just pick one already — especially considering how none of the titles is really remarkably better than the others.)
Yoo’s character is highly educated but has a somewhat difficult personality, part-time lecturing while aspiring to be a novelist. Lest you think this is another Notting Hill, the story is purported to be “a realistic love story” and departs from the potential Cinderella-story aspect of the premise.
The drama starts filming later this week, shooting on location in Japan, and is aiming for an end-of-year broadcast.

I love Oh Soo Yun (Autumn Tale, Winter Sonata, Four Tales, Love Letter) melodramas, but she just doesn't do realistic storylines. The consistent motif of her storylines are her remarkable appetite for destruction. Perfectly decent people are torn apart (lovely) and parent-child bonds are annihilated (inspiring.) And usually the love themes gome packaged with some random isease (leukemia for the WIN!) Maybe that's why I like her dramas so much?
Synopsis sounds like a setup for a charming comedy. Does Oh Soo Yun, bless her terminally ill soul, even know what laughter is?

wasn't Ko Soo supposed to star with CJW in this drama?

their relationship sounds similar to the other J-K coproduction, with kim tae-woo as the 2nd-class immigrant/sushi chef loving a hallyu queen. japanese buyers' taste is predictable huh?

I love Choi Ji & Yoo Ji so this is going to be a treat really! They'd look good together -- can't wait to see this! I didn't like Choi Ji's last drama series which I believe was unsuccessful but I hope this one redeems her!

If I had a penny for every time a k-drama said a drama would be “a realistic love story”....^_^
On the other hand k-dramas are 90% carried by the characters rather than the story so this may be just as well. CJW certainly fits the role/look of a star.....she always has that glamorous, untouchable air to her. Sometimes it makes her a little insufferable but in this case I think it will work quite well...

That guy looks like Park Hae-il doesn't he?
I thought I was the only one who finds Choi Ji Woo pretty. I really like her dramas - although I might be alone on that one- so this one might be enjoyable for me. I haven't had a good cry in a long time..

Im looking forward to this drama. I havent watched any of YJT's work but they look compatible.
I love CJW in her previous dramas (WS, STH and BD) and Air City was okay. hopefully this will not be too much of a heavy drama like the ones she is most known for. true -- CJW is perfect for the role.
@fizzle - you're not the only one. I also find her glamorous and beautiful.
I hope it will be successful kdrama! hwaiting!

maybe agony is her fix :)
i try to stay away from any CJW drama if possible...not that she's a bad actress, i just can't help but typecast her as a cryer. WS and StH ruined her for me. but the pairing looks adorable and i like YJT, let's hope this one is a keeper :)

I saw some of Choi Ji Woo's dramas & movies that were not melodramatic like First Love (her part here was more comedic), Mr. Duke (comedy & a little romance), The Romantic President (comedy & a little romance), Every Has A Secret (comedy), Nowhere to Hide (crime/action), The Hole (a thriller), & Air City (action/comedy/romance). She's a versatile actress. I'm looking forward in watching her new drama "Star's Love" (sounds like romantic comedy). Ji Woo fighting....

To me Choi Ji Woo is the best S. Korean actress. Not only she's very beautiful, she's also glamorous, elegant, sophisticated & talented. I saw several of her dramas & movies & I like them all. She's a very versatile actress. She's not only known in Korea, but also in all of Asia & other parts of the world (USA, France, South America, etc.). I think she's perfect for the role of Lee Mari on Star's Lover because she's a "big" star & a popular model in S. Korea. I love Star's Lover. Choi Ji Woo & Yoo Ji Tae's acting & chemistry are excellent. Read all the favorable comments & views in Celebrity Sweetheart/Star's Lover soompi. Great, great drama.

Omg I agree with all of you, Choi ji woo is the first korean actress I liked and up until now she's my role model. She and bae yong jun will always be close to my heart bec they are the stars that made me love Winter Sonata so much. Ji woo is definitely pretty and tall and she always touches my heart with the drama roles she plays. She's a true beauty and since I like the pairing on this drama I think I'll give this a try. :-)

Oh, I was watched Star's Lover (1-20 episode). It was a great drama, great story, great actress and actor, great chemistry, so on...all is great! CJW and YJT is a match in this drama. Thanks to SBS for make the drama happening in ASIA, especially in Indonesia. Standing applause for Star's Lover!!!
