The kiss that never was

Fans may be expecting young leads Nam Gyuri and Kim Bum to be locking lips when their upcoming horror movie Go-sa: Bloody Midterms releases on August 6, but they’re not gonna see it.

The supposedly “hot” (yeah, right) kiss scene was cut from the final edit and not shown at the recent VIP premiere/press event, despite the fact that it had been heavily hyped and promoted. The production company explained that the kiss “unfortunately was not essential to the content and flow of the plot, so it was deleted.”

In the uncut version of the movie, Nam Gyuri’s character had received an invitation from Kim Bum’s character to a club event, after which he surprised her with a kiss. However, due to the cutting of another related scene, the kiss no longer was relevant. It’s too bad that the production company and marketing team had prematurely created previews and ads including the scene, stirring strong fan response.

(Still, something tells me it’s not much of a loss anyway.)

A "heavily hyped" kissing scene??? Oh geesh. It's just a kiss, how hype up can it be? We've all seen it before.

I would have liked to see a kissing scene for Kim Bum but jeez, did he miss her mouth or what?

ugh, nam gyuri acting, that is a scary thot. she's got the wooden perfect doll schtick so popular with Korean women down pat. I count the days before she returns back to singing.

Good thing they cut it (not that I was going to watch it anyways) but it looks extremely awkward.

1st screen kiss, 1st nude/sex scene, 1st serial killer role, 1st housewife/divorcee role, 1st death scene, 1st villainous character...

Really, this is why in previews and such, you put only things that will HAVE to be in movie. It's not really smart to attract attention to things that were probably never essential to begin with and can easily be cut.

I think that having a hyped-up kiss scene in a horror movie promo speaks for itself.
If that's what they're going to need to promote a horror movie, then it wouldn't be that great in the first place. It's a good call on the editing staff's part; having that unnecessary scene cut out can make all the difference. Especially for people's perception on the movie.

I don't think that I've EVER seen a "hot" kissing scene in any Korean drama or movie.
They never look all that meaningful or impressive!
