Boyish-er and boyish-er…
by javabeans
Moon Geun-young departs further from her usual cute image in her cross-dressing role for the upcoming drama The Painter of Wind.
(In case you’d like a refresher, here she is looking girlish and sweet, and kinda actually a little like Lindsay Lohan.)

If it's supposed to be a period drama, where the heck did she get the fake facial hair? I'm a little confused.

Theatrics have been around forever, so they would have had fake facial hair during the period. I've just noticed that every time a female performer cuts her hair for a role or not, they are compared to Yoon Eun Hye and subsequently found lacking.

and don't forget the adhesive properties of rice hehehe...
yoon eun hye schmoon eun hye...apparently all a girl has to do is chop off her hair & she'll receive endless accolades for her acting talent in korea...
the girl is mediocre at everything she does, but people still can't help but fall over themselves over her ;P

Oh man, I love how realistic her "boyish" looks are! This reminds me of all the Chinese drama I have watched in the past ..where every time a female dresses up as a man, it's always so blatantly obvious, yet everyone's too stupid to realize it, at least wipe off the lipstick/gloss.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this.

oh my it does look disturbingly real! as if someone switched moon's hormone shots, or she was stranded on a desert island for weeks, without those mustache bleaching kits.

She is such a good actress! I have faith that she'll be able to pull off this role!
And it's annoying how ppl compare her role to YEH's! I've seen YEH's acting and I still don't understand what the big deal is? She is way overrated while true actresses are totally underrated! Too bad Korean award shows are more about popularity than talent.

@ anna
kekekeke :) It also seems like all the Korean actresses who do c-dramas dress up as a "guy" at one point: Jang Nara, Chae Rim, Park Si Yeon, etc... and none of the guys could tell?
I'm not sure if you've seen The Switch (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/The_Switch) but they had one scene where the girl dresses up as a guy but EVERYONE could tell :) That was really refreshing!

Y'all can hate on Yoon Eun Hye all you want, but you can't discredit her for all the Acting recognition and medals that she has received for her talent, and I dare say , that the judges knew what they were doing, compared to some biased people in here.
And just wait a minute, why bring up Yoon Eun Hye's name in the first place? It's you people who keep making a big issue about her and compare her to other actresses to begin with.

she's a cute guy.
and why is YEH even involved? MGY is the better actress, while YEH is the more commercial one.

The facial hair looks really fake and unneccessary. Even though she does look like a boy, she looks way too young to have all that facial hair.
It's not a matter of hating on YEH but rather people are just expressing their own opinions. I also agree that YEH is nothing but a mediocre actress. I honestly don't understand what's so great about her.

I personally love YEH's acting more.
Because she has such a raw quality about her. Untrained yet
was able to succesfully transform from pop singer to actress and a Best Actress at that. A huge feat for a girl product of a Pop Group.
I like MGY too but YEH just has this something called "star appeal". Sometimes being a good actress is not enough. There are plenty of great actresses out there, but they lack a certain uuumph for them to get that extra recognition.
Just thought I'd share my opinion on the matter as well.
